Our talented map artists make quality maps with an assortment of graphics and GIS software. Our skilled pressmen print maps up to 47″ x 64″ on a wide selection of stocks, including high wet strength and plastic, on large format presses that print up to 6 colors in one pass, while maintaining close registration. Our in-house bindery team folds maps in many configurations, including user-friendly styles that can be leafed through like the pages of a book. Williams & Heintz Map Corporation embraces ecologically sustainable practices.
History
Established in 1921.
Louis Heintz, and three of his coworkers at the US Geological Survey, started the map printing company. He was a stone lithographer. They created tax maps for cities and municipalities that needed accurate maps because they were missing out on revenue.
In World War II, Williams and Heintz worked tirelessly for the government printing maps of Europe, the Pacific, charts for pilots on sized linen.
By the fifties, Williams and Heintz specialized in making and printing geologic maps. We created with the Geo-color Guide which established a library of tints and colors for geologic maps. This concept was later adopted by the US Geologic Survey.
Today at Williams and Heintz Map Corp., we still specialize in printing large format cartographic work. The substrates have changed; we print a lot of maps on plastic, which is very durable. The technology has advanced and the processes are better for the environment.
