BEWARE! This place is a joke! We made our reservation 2 months ahead of time. They told us check in time was 2pm. We asked if we got there at 1pm and no one was at our spot, would we be able to check in 1 hour early. We were told yes but that they would «probably» ask for a small donation to their dog park. Hmm we don’t have a dog but ok. Well we arrived at 1pm and were told there was a MANDATORY $ 20 CASH donation for early arrivals. We asked what the donation was for and we were told it goes to the SPCA. We told them that was not what we were told on the phone and that a MANATORY $ 20 DONATION is not a donation, if it was we would be able to decide the amount we wanted to donate. Finally they told us we could donate $ 10 and it would go to various agencies in the community, but that it must be CASH. We paid it and asked for a receipt. The manager (who is extremely rude!!!) told us in all her years she never had anyone ask for a receipt. They hand scribbled a receipt on a piece of paper. We told them we wanted something with the Beachcomber name on it as to prove this was truly a «donation». We were given a very hard time and customers arriving next to us were going thru the same situation when the girl checking them in told them there was a MANDATORY $ 20 CASH donation. Our feeling was that if Beachcomber wants to charge customers for checking in 1 hour early, then fine, but make it a policy. Do not say it’s a mandatory $ 20 Cash donation. As far as we know they could take that $ 20 and go buy lunch for the staff that day on us! We were treated very rudely by the manager and the 2 employees. Customer service is NOT important to them! Rude Rude Rude!!! Stay away, don’t go to this place!

First time here. Campground itself is nice. Sites are extremely narrow but concrete pads are a plus. A lot of trees provide shady sites but the negative side to that is that our satellite Dish has no signal. Had to rent a cable box to hook up to tv inside but can’t watch our outside Tv. Too bad the campground is so close to the airport which is very busy all day long which gives you the sense you are by Newark Airport. Not sure if it’s like that all season long or just on this weekend. But overall enjoyed our stay. Met a lot of nice people. Campers and staff included

Horrible service. This prison is so anxious to get their hands on your money that they don’t even treat you humanely. We were driving around on a golf cart and security stopped us to see if we all paid to get in or are registered. You can’t have more than one car per site but don’t worry you can pay for as many as you want. Have a friend in town that wants to say hi? Sure no problem, they just have to pay the 2 night minimum of $ 20. Oh your kids are one year older now? Be sure to update the contract to charge them as an adult. Your son wants to stop by for the weekend? Just have him register himself and his car for the price of a hotel. Having a party? Too bad, you need to be quiet, and we’ll send security just to make sure everyone paid to be there. Oh you registered for the season? What a shame the season doesn’t start officially until next weekend so you’ll have to pay to get to your trailer.
If you’re looking for a great prison that you get to pay to be locked into, look no further. But if you’re trying to enjoy yourself, look elsewhere

I stayed here during Halloween. Some of the staff were rude to me and sassy because I had brought 1 extra person that I originally booked for. Each time I went to the store this 1 staff member would always have some smart ass comment to say towards me. If it were not for children being present I would of given it back ten fold. As far as the campground there are nice sites and not so nice. It was clean and decorated nice for Halloween. I only stayed there because it was last minute but I will not be returning the staff really turned me off.

Biggest, cleanest cabins we’ve ever stayed in. Like immaculate. TONS of activities for kids every hour practically. We stayed Columbus day wknd and there were hay rides, pumpkin painting, contests, bingo, dances, trick or treating etc etc etc. The kids said it was the best camping trip we ever had. We go every year, normally to north jersey/​NY state. Staff was nice enough (i was worried based on other reviews). They gave out free coffee, free homemade soup! Who does that???
FYI there are NO TENTS allowed. Not even small pop up dining tents. We didnt need it though because the screened in porches are huge. Bring a camp stove unless you want to grill everything all weekend. Their website doesnt show many photos at all. You have to go there to see just how awesome this place is. 15 min to the town of cape may. 5 min to shoprite/​homedepot etc

I’m posting a photo of a product for sale in their shop: «BLACKFACE SOAP.» This should tell you something about the people who own this «resort.»
Customer service was either helpful and pleasant (to me in person) or extremely rude (to my family in person and to me on the phone). Their «store» is a joke; it’s filthy and sells very little that you’d want to buy. Their «fire rings» are old rusty wheel rims. They have no cooking grill, so I had to buy one in their shop.
Site quality varies widely. You might get lucky, you might not. Bathroom facilities are inadequate, and perhaps due to so much use, are not kept clean.
The main pool was filthy and full of sand. Do they ever clean it?
Won’t be back.

I just spend the last week here with my 2 daughters in our popup. I visited here before making reservations, just to check out the place. When I was there in April they couldn’t give me an exact site #, but I requested something shady since I don’t have AC in my popup. The site I got was excellent, supposedly in the «new» section which backs up against a chain link fence and the woods. A pool and bathroom were just a short walk (2 min) away. The campground looks to be well maintained, the roads are in good shape, etc. I have a small popup so I had no problems maneuvering but if you have a giant RV you should practice backing it up somewhere else, not here. some of the spaces could be a little tight.
Pros: Nice swimming pools, activities, level shaded sites, quiet at night, very few bugs, close to Cape May and Wildwood. Bathrooms and showers are very good. Save your complaints about spending 25 cents for a 4 minute shower, or stay at home and whine. Overall, the campground is very clean. Remember, if you see trash laying around, it’s not the campground’s fault, it’s the idiot who threw it there in the first place.
Cons: Swimming pool needed to be vacuumed but the water was always nice. The bath house closest to us should have more than 1 toilet. I mentioned to staff early on in the week that the hot water faucet in the bathroom was stuck «on» but they didn’t seem to care because it was still not fixed by Saturday. I would agree with one of the other reviewers that the hookups can be a bit far away. Take an extension cord and extra hose if you’re not sure.
Next time we go camping at the shore, we’ll be coming here again!

Our favorite vacation spot! Perfect for kids endless activities! Tons of kids all day at the playground on the beach, arts and crafts every morning for the kids, pool games, hayrides.. it goes on and on!

I have to agree with the other reviewers who commented negatively on the customer service here. For a family-​run campground, we were appalled at how we were treated when we asked for compensation for a maintenance issue. We just returned from three nights here for Memorial Day weekend. My daughter and I drove from VA and my fiancé and his two kids from NH. Long drives, looking forward to a relaxing three days. We stayed in a Park Model that has just been built. We paid $ 206 per night, as they charge this steep rate for Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a rather inflated price for glorified camping where you have to bring all your own bedding and cookware, but its a pretty nice model. The stay was going fine, although the sliding door was difficult to lock and each time we left it was a bit of a hassle to get it to lock. On Saturday night, after arriving home late with three young kids, we were unable to get the door open with the key. A maintenance guy arrived quickly and was also unable to get it open. He called his boss, who also could not. The boss removed the AC unit and crawled through the window. That night they gave us a piece of wood so we could keep the door locked. With all the back and forth and waiting, our kids were up past 10:00. The next morning a maintenance man came back, left for Home Depot, came back again, then again, and by the time the door was fixed we had been visited by maintenance no less than 7 times. We also advised that the screen door kept coming off the tracks and finally that was fixed as well. Prior to checkout we spoke with the manager to request some reimbursement for the trouble. He was unwavering. He told us that there was no way that the door could have been properly fixed at 9:00 pm and that we didn’t complain earlier that the door wasn’t working properly, and that we didn’t complain about the screen. He gave us a voucher for a free bundle of wood and a bag of ice ($ 6.00 value).
In the morning, we turned in the key and gate keys about 30 minutes before we completely vacated. A guy almost immediately came around and gave us a hard time for still being there. He was inhospitable and grumpy.
I don’t understand businesses that don’t cater to their customers. Would it have been that hard to say, «I am so sorry this happened and interrupted your vacation. Please accept a one-​night reimbursement.» In fact, this should have been offered to us by management without having to ask.
The next time we plan a visit to the Jersey Shore, we will avoid this place.

I am a seasonal and this place is the Best. Everyone is like family… friendly staff, very well maintained, Great security, Awesome activities for the whole family, 3 pools, lake and beach, paddle boats and so much more. If you have never stayed here please try it you won’t regret it… you will come back every year… Oh did I mention the great tent sites, cabins, and transit!

Rude power mad nasty employees. Every interaction was marked by hostility not hospitality.

Pros — All in all Had a great week stay here at Beachcomber. The campground is top notch. Paved sites with gravel roads, big camp store and nice pools. Pretty close to everything. Most sites are wooded and shady. I would say there are about 60−70% seasonal, The bathrooms looked clean and well kept.
Cons — the power/​water hookups are really far away on some of the sites we had to buy extensions. The roads are really tight. I only have a 23′ and had a hard time backing it into my site because of all the decorative fencing. Also, during peak season you cant just stay here for the weekend. You have to pay for an entire week. One last thing is One of the managers was really rude to me when I was at the store. I had not noticed a bike rack so I parked my bike up on the porch and out of the way. He basically caught me on the way out and pointed out a tiny sign that said no bikes on the porch and in a condescending tone told me not to park my bike there again. Didn’t catch his name but older heavy set guy with a beard. (Santa?) I apologized, shrugged him off and went on my way. All in all a really nice campground and Im sure we will be back.

I had a great time with my family this summer here. the park is very clean the lake is exceptional. the Stanford friendly through security everywhere. your kids are safe

I don’t know what those other people are talking about, the staff is really nice. They go out of their way to get answers if they don’t know them.
I stayed in a cabin and it was really nice. The cabins were clean and well kept. There were plenty of activities for my kid, not to mention a lot of little ambient stuff to do.
I used to camp a lot, and I was a tent camper, so I can see how sweet it would be to camp here in a tent; I mean, there’s electric and water at your site. I’m used to some primitive stuff.

Pros: Kids activities were great! Loved that they had a bunch of stuff daily for kids to do. Not just the weekends. Kudo’s to the activities department. Facilities were pretty clean, and workers were always around taking care of things.
Cons: Very tight roadways and access for trailers if you’re not comfy maneuvering. Was here for 10 days and saw 4 campers/​motorhomes hit the stockade fencing.
Our site was very shady (disliked), and had several branches fall to the ground. Fortunately nothing damaged my truck/​camper. Concrete pad was great but could have been even with the dirt around it to avoid tripping hazards. And I’ve traveled from Maine to Myrtle Beach and have never paid for cable. To me that’s just cheap considering we rented an «Ultra» site.
Would I visit BC again? Wouldn’t completely write it off, but we like to find new places to visit.

We booked a site for a week and a half and prior to going we called to see if we could secure a more secluded site as we didnt want to be located by the pool. Both employees and the Manager/​Owner we spoke to were unbelievably rude and after a few moments of conversation they said they were canceling our reservation and were returning our money, less than 24 hours before we were supposed to leave for our vacation. Luckily we were able to secure another location with a different, more friendly person from a nearby site, but the unprofessional manner of the staff at The Beachcomber nearly ruined our summer vacation. These people have no idea how to run a business and interact with their potential patrons. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.
