The Real Pit BBQ

So good I would eat it everyday. But that doesn’t correspond with my diet lol. Tasty and great prices. Don’t hesitate to try their food!

This is a little dive BBQ joint with the best BBQ. The brisket was super tender and the jalapeño sausage was really good. Oh, and the ribs are the best! Don’t forget a pecan pie and ice tea! I ate here 3 days in a row while staying the river.

Nice little bbq joint. No frills, just good bbq. Definitely a place to grab some food to take out on the lake.

From the outside it lives up to it’s name. Very unassuming location that we probably would not have stopped at without a recommendation from a local. We are very glad we went. We ordered the Family pack with ½ beef and ½ sausage and selected potato salad and coleslaw as our sides. The meal came with bread, pickles, onions, and plenty of BBQ sauce. We ordered a large lemonade and a slice of chocolate pecan pie. The flavor was all around delicious with exceptional potato salad.
One downside is the amount of styrofoam and plastic used without a recycling container available. Taking the food to go would reduce this some.

This is basically a shack with some picnic tables but the meat is where its at boys and girls. We ordered a family meal (shhhhhh but only for the 2 of us) 1 pound of briskey, pint of coleslaw, pint of mac and cheese, bread, picles and onions and suace. Also ordered a soda, sweet tea some jalapeños and a piece of blackberry cobbler. With all that came to 24.01, not bad in my book ! Mmmmmmm

The service was very good. Warm and friendly. The Brisket gets 5 stars, but the sausage, sides, and bbq sauce get 3. Sauce was a bit peppery for our taste, but not bad. Mac & Cheese was bland. Slaw was also very good. I ate most of my brisket without sauce and honestly it did not need it. I would eat here again, but I’d stick to the brisket.

I just had a family pack with a pound of Brisket and 2 sides and it was priced right and delicious! Every time I come here they do it right!

The food was not impressive. The service was impolite and rushed when we were the only ones at the joint. Even the Mac and Cheese was a disappointment. How do you ruin Mac and Cheese?

Best brisket I have had in a very long time! Sausage and BBQ Sauce fantastic, Potato Salad and cole slaw both delicious!!! Beans were good, but were not on par with the rest of the food. Overall, I will definitely be back to this place when visiting my folks again.

Delicious smoked turkey sandwich-​perfectly seasoned and smoked, served on a fresh bun. Save room for a piece of Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie-​it is divine!
This is a popular place, so don’t wait too late in the day to get hungry because they don’t have a bottomless pit.

Great BBQ, very juicy and not too much sauce on the sandwich. Quick service. Potato salad was worth trying.

Great place to stop after tubing. Came with a group of friends and everyone raved. Awesome turkey. The ribs were succulent with a sweet sauce. The mac and cheese is the Mac daddy. Super friendly service!

Everything I have tried is great! Love this place. Try the pecan pie and the turkey sandwich

I went back today, feb 2015, and the bean recipe was back to normal. First class Texas BBQ.

My friends and I were in town from Houston and we wanted some authentic, «hole in the wall» BBQ after floating down the river. We asked a guy at the Tube Haus where we should go and he directed us here. Boy, am I glad he did! It was exactly what we wanted.
I ordered the chopped beef plate that came with two sides, and I picked mac n cheese and potato salad. Everything was excellent. I also ordered a sweet tea and was not disappointed! It was huge and it met my southern taste buds’ standards.
I can’t comment on the negative review, but I can say that we had a wholly positive experience and we’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who’s in the area looking for good BBQ at a good price.
As far as service goes, there isn’t much to say about it. It wasn’t impressive, but it wasn’t bad either. We ordered, paid, got our food, and ate, so there wasn’t much room for outstanding service or really bad service either. I’d say they were friendly enough, and pretty timely considering how busy they were.
Bottom line is that this place serves up really amazing BBQ, good southern sweet tea, and delicious sides all for a decent price. Definitely would go back!

These people are rude crooks! Come here if you want to be completely screwed over… Charged my card TWICE and said it didn’t go through even though it showed the money had been taken out twice on my mobile app. Still they refused to give me my food because ‘my card was declined’.
When I talked to the owner things got even worse! Can you believe this guy actually yelled at me and told me he could do whatever he wanted because it’s his business?! What kind of place is this guy running? I even called my bank and they confirmed that I HAD been charged twice. the girl at the front said she would give me a refund after all (which btw, who actually offers a refund if they don’t believe your card really went through?!) so she refunds me HALF of what was actually charged to my card.
So I was charged $ 13, got yelled at by the owner, didn’t even get my food and then because they had already given me my tea my father in law was told he had to pay for my tea. But it gets EVEN worse…
When I went to the bank to settle everything and show them my recites and see what I could do they looked at my recites and say no wonder there wasn’t a refund issued… It says ‘offline’. The girl must have turned off the credit card machine and swiped my card just to give me a recite and shut me up. Ugh REALLY?! (See pics)
I don’t care if you have the juiciest BBQ, served on gold plated platters, hand fed to me by you yourself… If your running your business like you don’t care about your customers and you act like a complete asshole then I won’t be eating at your BBQ!

Pretty good BBQ for the area. Ribs have a nice sweet brown sugar glaze and are tender. The mac and cheese is pretty good along with the potato salad. I ordered the brisket and it was pretty good as well. I would definitely go back when I am in the area. It beats Rudy’s any day.

This place was amazing! The food was absolutely delicious, and on top of that the people were so friendly. We got ribs & sausage, both of which were excellent. The ribs may have been the best I had while I was in the Austin area. The bbq sauce was perfect. We even brought some home to put on other food. We also got some sides & a slice of pecan pie which were also good. We devoured the food in the nice little seating area, and a few locals came & talked to us, giving us some great tips about the area while they waited for their food. It seemed like most people got the food to go. I wish I lived in a place where I got such delicious smoked meat brought home for dinner… but then again, it was kind of out there. Definitely recommend as a post tubin feast.

We needed a quick spot for food, and this place had great prices and great food. All I would like is improved bathroom facilities.

I used to love this place esp their bbq sauce, I would even go as far as to say I liked them better than R*udy’s. Then I noticed sometime last year as I drove by the sign said «New owners, same great taste». The next day hubby and I put that to the test. The recipes changed somehow, brisket and pork were dry, coleslaw and potato salad were lackluster and bbq sauce tasted as if from a grocery store. I’m hoping I caught them on a bad day, but I haven’t been back since.

So this place is «Real Pit BBQ» with a great side of southern hospitality
Visiting this area of Texas I was hoping to find a place that had some fantastic BBQ and asking one of the locals that live there that happen to be friends of mine, they told me to try this place. In fact they would take me there to try it because it is so good.
Looking at this place from the street it doesn’t look like much, but what great restaurant does? Looking at the two people in side, I step up to the window and order what I wanted and the family that I came along with did the same knowing exactly what they wanted. The man took the order, shut the glass window and the him and his employee started working at what they do best. Making some grade A BBQ. We waited for a few min and after getting to talk to them while they worked he invited us to go to this little rodeo they and a group of others through every thursday night. Sharing a few laughs and talking about how he started this place up turned out to be a lot of fun and the wait for the food was not that long at all.
So grabbing my tee, bag of chips and my BBQ sandwich, I sat down to eat and boy did I enjoy it. Thats «real pit BBQ» right there! I would travel the 3 hours to see my friends any day knowing there was this good of a place here. I look forward to going here soon and trust me, I will be here soon.
Oh did i mention that their prices are awesome and that they make all their desserts homemade as well? hehe i love this place
