I came here today after being turned away from another smog center. As soon as I walked in I had great customer service from the lady up front and the service tech Jalani. He took me right away and had me in and out in 20 minutes. All in all AMAZING service, i recommend anyone to go here for a smog! Great prices and people, thank you!

I took my 2001 Honda to get smog checked today and it was quick and easy. I paid $ 49.99 and Jalani had me in and out of there in 10 minutes. I definitely recommend this place.

Great experience here! Needed to get smogged for new registration, so I went here because I’ve been there a few other times when I needed to get this done in the past. Like always, it was a painless deal! Gentleman at the counter inside promptly took care of me and went out and took care of business. In no time, he was done! Friendly, sincere service I got. Signed the paper and off I went to the AAA to get my stickers. As long as I live in this area, there’s no reason for me to go anywhere else! Recommended!

These guys are very helpful. Even if they don’t offer coupons, there are relatively affordable and they finish within the 20 minute range. Their waiting area is nest, free snacks and water, glad these honest to goodness business still exist. Try them and be astonished!

Highly recommend this place. No need to make an appointment – they work quickly, so even if you have a couple people ahead of you, you won’t wait long. Plus, their waiting area is stocked with coffee, cold water, Red Vines, Chex Mix, and mints to hold you over while you wait.

I have gone to this particular smog test place for years and only now do I find it terrible. The other reviews talk about the speediness of the test… I’ve been sitting here for an hour while the guy finishes his phone call. I used to be in and out in 15 minutes. Disappointing.

Phoned earlier and they said they’d give us a $ 10 discount (Total $ 49.99). Liked the Unilocal reviews so I pulled up and the (older) guy was scratching his head looking under a hood of someone else’s car. He looked up and seemed annoyed that I was there. He said two cars were ahead of me. «Okay!» I said, as I pulled up Unilocal on my phone. Quickly found one around the corner who heard my situation and honored a $ 25 Unilocal coupon at their shop and said there wasn’t a wait. Only $ 35 and out the door in less than 15 mins. Thanks, Five Star for allowing me to find «Fast Smog» on Ruether… better service and better rate!

This is the best place to get a smog check in SCVALLEY. I have been going here for approx 3 years and every time they go out of they way to make sure you have a good experience. No hassle and very fast. If you need a smog take your car here.

I didn’t go there but I did price-​compare, my mechanic charges $ 38 for my ’06 Subie Forester and these guys charge $ 49 on special. I think I’ll save $ 11 and just go to my mechanic.

This is the ONLY place I will ever go for a smog check. The staff is bend over backward friendly, always offers a discount of some kind, sends out postcards, calls to thank you for business, and offers cold water, snacks, and magazines while you wait. Don’t bother going anywhere else.

Appropriately named Five Star Smog Test. Other reviews attesting to customer service and follow up are accurate. I’ve been here five times now. Quick, clean, friendly, red vines and bottled water are a nice touch. My car is older and required an additional test of evaporative fuel recovery system. 20.00 more but instantly rebated along with another 10.00 credit on the main test. I have older cars, and they need an annual smog test at a test-​only location. This is the best place to have it done. 5 star does it quickly (always 30 minutes or less for me, even with lots of customers). They have red vines, pretzels and bottled water in the waiting room. They are extremely helpful (letting you know that you can renew car registration on-​line or at AAA). Vern (assume the owner) is awesome!

You have to bring your car to be smog checked here. The owner went out of his way to be helpful and accommodating. The odd thing is your taken back by this superior customer service because you rarely get it these days! You think for a moment maybe I am being «punk’d» (Where are the cameras?) this guy is too nice. Whether the car passes or not is out of their hands but if it had not passed, i would have been O.K. with that result from this location. I was so impressed I went back a few months later with my wife and her car, it needed to be smog tested as well. She too was impressed with the service! Now that’s saying something cause she’s hard to please (Let’s keep that between you and me). So in a nutshell, if you need a smog check take it here Their name should be changed to 10 stars!

Five Star Smog was very clean, very efficient & the staff, especially Vern, was very friendly. I went here on a recommendation, and was in and out in 20 minutes! I was offered cold water & snacks, while I prayed that my beast «Goldmember» was street legal for another year. Once the results were in (pass!) Vern went over all the details of the results with me, including that he had passed everything along to the DMV.
I highly recommend Five Star Smog, and will definitely be bringing my car (s) back here when needed.

Ugh! A Smog check is such an annoyance. My car is getting older but it’s still runs well and I know that it’s going to pass every time I take it in, but it’s still annoying to have to do it. Even more annoying, AAA required me to go to a Test Only Center, so the place that I normally go was out and I needed a new place for this test. I think it was my mother that went here first, she said she really liked the guys working here and they weren’t over priced. So I listened to mother and drove over here.
They have coupons. I wasn’t aware of them but the gentlemen working was kind enough to give me the discounted price without having the coupon. To be safe check out the coupons on their website, (

The older gentlemen working was so friendly. There were no cars ahead of me so they took my keys and told me to take a seat and to help myself to a complimentary bottle of cold water from the mini fridge and to enjoy some of the treats on the table which consisted of a bucket of RedVines, large hard pretzels and some mints. Side note, I dig RedVines. When I was a kid I used to bite the ends off and use them as a straw in 7UP. It made is Cherry 7UP, the only thing better than regular 7UP and then the RedVine straw would get kinda sorta soggy and you got to eat it and it was flavored like, yup you guessed it, 7UP.
Bottom line: I really liked the guys working here. I was in an out in maybe 10 minutes. They had complementary things to snack on and something cold to drink. Most places have that old disgusting water cooler with dusty paper cups, a water bottle is a huge step up. Those paper cups always make the water taste like dead trees. The price was fare and they even gave me the discount, just because it was a nice day out.
