Be wary consumers. The siren songs of lunk free and cheap fitness don’t materialize so easily.
I actually had stopped going for a while (life got busy, you know how it is). The last time I’d actually gone in was in May/​2015. At that time they said they needed updated bank card info which I provided. Months went by and I never gave it another thought, until January when I decided to take a look at my budget. I realized I could save a whopping $ 21.00 a month simply by cancelling the membership, as I had a gym in my basement now that was more convenient.
So in I go to PF where I’m told by a snarky youngster in a snide tone that I’m $ 150 in arrears and I can’t cancel the membership. I was shocked! How could I be in arrears? They say that the billing info they have is not up to date (nothing has changed) and since May ’15 the fees have been piling up each month. I asked why they hadn’t contacted me (phone, email, letter?) and they had no answer. I told them to cancel the membership and they refused, saying I needed to pay them first. Of course I then refused, and asked to speak to the GM who was conveniently unavailable.
So, I recently sent them a registered letter, signature required stating that I was cancelling the membership. They called the next day and left me a message stating that I couldn’t, until I paid them. Wow, I’ve never found it so hard to NOT go to a gym before!

After having frequented several other locations in the past, this one is probably the best. It’s your run-​of-​the-​mill gym, so don’t expect anything fancy. It’s pretty cramped on the inside, and there’s not a lot of open space. They have a zillion cardio machines but very little in the form of weights and upper-​body equipment. And, there’s a good chance several of the machines you want to use have an «out of service» tag on them. Some of the cardio machines don’t seem to be hooked up to the TVs either. There are no real cons, but as far as pros go, it is very clean on the inside; the locker room and tanning booths are always clean; the free Wi-​Fi works pretty good too. And (as I always compare it favorably to my former Southgate location), the girls here are always hot. It’s not a ghetto, overweight, sweatpants gym.

Probably my favorite PF. I was visiting my mom in Ann Arbor and was spending time in Canton. Having the Black Card lets me visit any Planet Fitness gym across the country. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. Their stand up tanning was fast and had strong bulbs. The equipment was all new and there were plenty of choices. They also keep it nice and cool inside which is always a plus.

Planet fitness is just wonderful! I love them.
This location is my home gym, however I rarely go to this location much anymore, 2 – 3 a month tops, not because I don’t like it, but proximity being the issue. I just have procrastinated changing my home location since I moved, but that’s why I love Pf you can flirt around to any location as a black card member 10 sessions per location a month, so I’ve not been super pressed to switch.
This location is on the smaller side, and I know some of my friends and family don’t care much for it, but I do I like it a lot. The staff is great. Plenty of cardio equipment, good tanning, and massage stations, clean locker rooms.
On the down side parking can be tough, the plaza it’s in is small and sports a Menchies, and several other stores, and businesses including, Jungle java, and Jimmy John’s.
Parking can be difficult at peak hours. I still like this location it might be a bit small, especially for the big community they serve but still good.

This review is not bout the gym itself which is OK, no great shakes. However, what has upset me is that 5 days after I signed up paying higher joining fees + $ 10 per month membership, we got an offer to pay just $ 5 joining fees and no commitment $ 10 membership. When I joined, there was no mention of a no commitment membership for $ 15. I called and the woman I spoke to claimed to be the manager and said she cannot reimburse me the diff even though the current offer is valid till end of May. If the offer started weeks after I joined, I wouldn’t ask them but just 5 days after I joined, this offer comes up. But she is not budging. I am pi***** off that no one even said anything to me earlier about no commitment option, I guess they get commission for screwing customers. I should’ve stuck to summit park!!! Better bunch of people and not a bunch of high schoolers that seem to be running this joint.

This is a great place. The kids running it are so nice and they make you feel at home. They do need to pay more attention to the customers. I have seen them tell customers that they are doing something wrong and then let another customer go by doing the same thing and they say nothing. They also need to remove the flowers from the massage room. Some people cannot have flowers because of allergies. It makes it uncomfortable.

Affordable clean gym. Machines are typically open whenever I go morning, after work, or evening. Their parking lot on the other hand it almost impossible to find a parking spot any time of day. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Other than the parking lot I have no issues.

As far as gyms go this one is very cheap. I went with the $ 10 a month and they offer a good selection of machines and a lot of each machine so there’s typically something always open. Everyone cleans the machine after they finish which keeps the place clean good size locker room training on site. I am satisfied with this gym.

Cheap, cheerful, clean, tons of cardio equipment, fast in and out. My only dislikes are the fans that blow on me in certain spots, and their little rules where you can’t even hang your sweatshirt on the machine if you get hot. I wish they had towels and magazines too. But a great place to get the job done.

This place is a nightmare. I really wish pf would make another location in Plymouth or another one in canton. There is never Any open parking spots and always crowded inside.

I’ve been a member for about a year or so now. I don’t love Planet Fitness, but I don’t hate it either. To me, this place is A-​OK!
First off, being a young lady myself I know how most women love doing cardio and there are plenty of machines for that! Endless treadmills, ellipticals, and arc trainers. There are also a few bikes (both tall and short) and two stair steppers. Keep in mind that most of the space in PF is taken up by the cardio machines.
Secondly, there is decent sized area for weights and free weights. I know how men LOVE this area. When comes to finding a weight machine that can help workout some part of your body, they have it.
Thirdly, they have an area near the front of the place for abs and stretching. The stretch machines are awesome! It has multiple ways to stretch certain parts of your body and it works! My only problem is that there are no medicine balls. I use those especially for my ab workouts.
Lastly, there are also additional services that are available to black card members. Such as tanning, red light therapy and hydro massage. I don’t tan, so I can’t speak for that department. But the red light therapy is interesting and the hydro massage obviously doesn’t compare to a real massage.
For PF there some things people should know. 1) black members do get the free tanning, massage, blah blah, BUT black card members get half off drinks. 2) black cards members can visit any PF place in the country compared to regular membership where you can go to the PF you got your membership at. In other words, choose your membership wisely! Overall, PF is ok. If I had more money and the time to use services like a swimming pool or actual fitness classes then I would go to Lifetime Fitness, but I’m a poor college student so that’s not going to happen. Haha! PF is great if you want a cheap membership.

I felt incredibly uncomfortable during my time spent at planet fitness. I do bodybuilding as a hobby and felt immediately judged despite the fact that I followed every rule they had. I literally shrieked when
I heard the «lunk alarm» go off (someone else set it off for working out too hard…”).
I also noticed a schedule for pizza day and bagel day… nothing like a gym that WANTS to stunt people’s progress… it’s like going to the dentist and getting candy as you leave… imagine an Alcoholics Anonymous having liquor available after the meeting… it’s ridiculous…

Although it’s a decent gym, it is always too crowded to get a parking spot after work. It is packed and smelly. I went to cancel my membership after being charged an «annual fee» of $ 39…being hit with a random annual fee on top of my monthly payment is what pushed me to the point of canceling. Peace out PF canton — I may try other gyms in the area in the future.

Planet Fitness is great for the price and convenience. Hard to beat a $ 20 a month Black Card membership. There is plenty of equipment but membership has increased significantly, so peak hours are no fun whatsoever. You really need the flexibility of your own schedule to get in and enjoy the equipment (ie., work around the peak hours).
Staff is mostly young and all are friendly. You get a greeting when you come and go. Nice enough people. Trainer is helpful too.
One note. Black Card perks include the tanning beds. The staff has no idea what they are doing with the beds from day to day. Don’t complain if they give your assigned time to someone else or you have to wait 20, 40 or more minutes past your scheduled time. They’ll basically give you the «what do you want for $ 20 a month look» which equates to «if you don’t like it here, leave»
In other words, for $ 20 a month you get a ²⁴⁄₇ operation to workout at, smiles and greetings but skip any additional customer service. Ain’t happening here.
They do other things for members like a Pizza night and I think I’ve seen a donut night too. Something like that. Good value for the price.

Gotta drop it a star. After working my way around to the «real» weights and not just doing the 30 minute circuit training, I’ve noticed that there is a SERIOUS lack of weight in this place.
I know you don’t want to have «lunks» in your gym, but I’m far from that. I’m just an overweight dude trying to shed some pounds. Being that I carry more weight on my frame, my legs are naturally larger than other people’s (as are most overweight people’s legs)…so when you have your leg press sled that is only outfitted with about 250 lbs of weight — it really makes no sense. I think the entire gym only has about 10 — 45lb. plates. That’s just not enough for 3 Smith Machines and a leg press sled. It’s pretty much impossible for me to get a solid leg workout in at this place unless I take all of the weight from everywhere around the gym — which I’m sure would be frowned upon.

I’m not in love with this gym but I can’t hate it either.
Two stars for cleanliness in the locker room and on the gym floor. Although they don’t offer towels, bathroom amenities or hair dryers, it’s clean and that’s all I can ask for.
Ladies love the cardio and I’m no different. The variety of machines and the number of machines is impressive. You can usually find something that’s open without having to wait. The TV selection is a little boring. The Fox channel is all court shows and Simpson’s re-​runs, A & E is all cop shows and CNN gets repetitive sometimes. The screens showing ESPN seem to never be near the open machine I’m going to use. I suggest a switch up of channels every once in a while.
I’ll tan occasionally, but the beds skeeve me out a little. It’s clean your own and sometimes the people I see coming out of the bed before me make me want to wash it down with bleach before I get in. And because the beds are in constant use, the bulbs are SUPER hot he majority of the time. The standup booths have metal handles which are too hot to touch sometimes. I should know better by now and just stick to the spray tan.
The staff are friendly, typical gym folks. College kids and girls who like yoga pants. And although they don’t offer classes, the «personal training» sessions are always open. And if the session they are offering at the time isn’t full, someone is usually walking around asking folks if they would like to work out their arms, backs, etc.
It is what it is for a $ 20/​month membership. And the location is relatively close to my house — and being able to use any of the Planet Fitness’s nationwide is also a perk for someone like myself who’s always on the go.

Planet Fitness is always a great gym. Lately they may have gotten a little busier because Planet Fitness is now the Gym of the biggest loser, but I don’t find that much of a problem. I either go in the Morning or in the Evening but this location is open ²⁴⁄₇ now.
It is very clean. After you use a Machine you clean it so they stay pretty clean and the bathroom’s are pretty clean as well. They have Elliptical, Treadmills, bikes and lots of different weight Machines. They also have a few others too. The treadmills, elliptical and bikes have a nice feature. You can plug your iPod into them and listen to your own music, movies or whatever things you have. If you bring headphones you can plug them in and listen and watch one of their TVs. This is great during a workout.
Don’t be alarmed by the lunk alarm. It goes off when somebody is slamming their weights etc. Pf is the Judgment free zone after all. It is meant for everyday people not body builders etc. Planet Fitness is the best gym you could be a member of. If you are looking for a gym I highly recommend this place.
