Dr. Joseph has been my chiropractor for a year now. I had lots of lower back pain when I first visited Dr. Joseph. After few visits, I felt so much better and I am really thankful I have been to Dr. Joseph.

Oh Dr. Joseph, how you disappointed me…
At first I thought this guy was cool because he was willing to see my boyfriend the same day I called at the Livingsocial deal price even though I wouldn’t have my coupon until the next day (if you’re not familiar with Livingsocial deals, you have 24 hours to buy the deal and once the 24 hours is up, they email you a coupon that you have to bring in). But that’s where the coolness ended.
When we arrived, the sign on the establishment didn’t even match the name of the place — it’s called Vitality on here, and Cool Breeze Spa or something on the actual building. Minus points. The least of our problems.
I had scheduled back to back appointments for my boyfriend and I, for massage and treatment. My bf wasn’t getting the massage; and then when we were filling out our paperwork, we realized we had gotten the dates messed up and the very next day, my bf had to leave for an extended stay out of town and we needed all the time we could get. So I asked if I could reschedule my appointment for later in the week. Well, it turns out the doctor only works on Mondays and Wednesdays (wtf?!) so he didn’t have any appointments available that week or the following week — and I myself was leaving town for several months the following Wednesday. The doctor took my info and said he’d call me back about rescheduling. He never did. I guess he just figured that since I’d already paid on Livingsocial and we were both going out of town, he’d just take the money without treating me. Minus points!!!
Now for the most important part, the treatment. My bf had, only days before, been to see Dr. Long at Community Chiropractic in Calabasas and was very happy with his treatment there, which included electrodes, ultrasound, massage and an ice pack along with traditional «back cracking» treatment, as well as a thorough explanation of what was wrong with his back (he was in severe pain). The only reason we were at Dr. Joseph’s instead of Dr. Long is because of the Livingsocial deal (big mistake!). Enter Dr. Joseph, who was perplexed as to what could be wrong with my bf’s back, bewildered at the treatment he’d received from Dr. Long, and who spent several minutes hemming and hawing over how exactly to treat my bf before doing a couple of minor adjustments and telling him to stretch. Totally lame, especially compared with Dr. Long! We left the place irritated and disappointed. Minus, minus, minus!
The five star reviews associated with Dr. Joseph are a crock. The statements that he is «thorough» or that he «[has no] equal as to understanding the body physiologically» is disproven by our visit, wherein he seemed confused and inexperienced. He was, however, very good at demonstrating the pelvic thrust exercise he recommended for my bf, indicating that he is experienced in f**king people.

Hm, that’s funny, as I recall, when I initially called in that morning, I was told I could pick a time for my bf and I to come in because that day was WIDE OPEN (the following day was not, due to the Livingsocial deal I was told on the phone, but as I was informed that afternoon that the doctor only works Mondays and Wednesdays, that is probably the real reason his Tuesday was «fully booked»). Considering I was told during our first phone conversation that we could have the appointments that day, I am confused as to how patients could have been reached by phone and had their appointments moved around simultaneously. The doctor DID say that he would see what he could do to fit me in before I was leaving town, but he neglected to follow up with me as he said. I did not DEMAND to be seen, although I may have commented on the ridiculousness of his only working two days a week and how that would affect scheduling.
«Your emotional state – » (I cried silently! What a psycho) « – along with the disruption of the office due to the cancellation placed me in a situation of having to manage an upset therapist, office staff, patients that were caught off guard by your reaction and your situation simultaneously.»
I wonder, first of all, how any patients could have been caught off guard since my bf and I were the only patients in the office. The massage therapist was clearly irritated, as she proceeded to call a friend of hers and bitch about the cancellation in front of us, but since she was now going to be getting paid for doing NOTHING for two hours I don’t see what the big deal was to her, unless she only works on tips in which case she should find another office that pays her for her time. The «office staff» is the doctor and the massage therapist. Nice try.
As for my bf’s previous treatment with Dr. Long, I don’t believe I ever said he was «dissatisfied,» quite the contrary. I was merely trying to work with our limited schedule and also save some money. And, you can keep my $ 64 dude. Give it to your upset «staff.»

Dr. Joseph is an amazing chiropractor. I’ve never met his equal as to understanding the body physiologically. My husband and many of my friends have also been treated by him over the years. He can tailor his technique to the person he is treating. With me, I need someone to be very gentle and not over manipulate me or my muscles will spasm. Dr. Joseph understands this. He has treated me for years and I highly recommend him!
