Scale Model Stuff

When I was a kid building models living in the Canoga Park, Scale Model Stuff did not exist. As an older dude who now lives in the Bay Area and has recovered his love for model building, finding this little gem of a store while visiting the valley was an absolute joy. The owner was abundantly helpful and even provided me with a discount for model that was not part of the sale. Though the location is tiny it is stocked with every tool you’d need and almost any type of model you’d want to build.
Anytime I find myself in Canoga Park, I’ll definitely stop in.

I stopped in here on a whim as I drove by, seeing the sign stating that they had dollhouse stuff. I’ve been buying dollhouse stuff for photography projects and to spruce up my tarantula terrarium. This is a very small store, but has quite a bit crammed into it. Mostly focused on model trains and cars, they also had a few dollhouse things (not really much) and some kits, puzzles and figures. I ended up buying a number of train-​minatures for my art projects including some HO 1:87 scale birds. OMG so tiny!!!
Prices are normal for this stuff. It’s not cheap, but the quality was good and I am happy with my purchases. The store owner was helpful and polite. He helped me find the specific types of things I was looking for and checked online when he didn’t happen to have a type of miniature person in stock.

Impressive selection for such a tiny shop. Mostly car, railroad, and ship models. A few dollhouse miniatures, but not many. The proprietor was very nice and let us browse around. He had some helpful suggestions and looked some things up in a catalog for us. Less selection than can be found online, but I enjoyed being able to actually see what I was buying in person.

Just moved to the area and went online to find a hobby store close that had Scalextric items. I was promptly greeted when I went in early afternoon on a Monday and pointed in the direction I needed to go. They had a good inventory of track and cars. They had a good sale going but I was on a budget this trip, just hope the sale continues next month. Looking forward to my next trip there.

Small store but the things in here are amazing. I love looking at the details on some of the models they have here. The man who was there was very helpful, he seems to know his stuff.

Rating based on their selection of ScaleXtric slot car stuff. I just received a ScaleXtric slot car set for my birthday and I needed more track pieces. Scale Model Stuff is one of the few shops in the entire Los Angeles area that carries various brands of ¹⁄₃₂ slot cars.

With Pinwood Derby season upon us my boys were on the look out for extra special ways that they could «pimp» out there rides. I have seen this hobby shop staring at me in the face every time I’m in the drive thru at Starbucks across the way so thought I would stop in with the boys and then reward myself afterwards.
The place is tiny but packed with loads of models and accesories. The owner asked us what we were in for and quickly showed us what he had. The selection of stickers and paints was ok and the prices fair. We purchased a set of stickers and then continued our search for more performance related items like graphite powder and tuning books.

Apparently business is so great, that the owner doesn’t need to really acknowledge customers, and apparently doesn’t need or want our money.
We came in looking for Tamiya ¹⁄₆ Motorcycles, knowing it was a long shot that a small shop like his would have any in stock, but we thought it might be worth a look.
The owner briefly acknowledged us, even though there was no one else in his tiny shop. Since we didn’t see any of the models we were looking for, we asked him if he had any.
«No.» he responded, and went back to reading his magazine. No follow-​up with the usual «but we can order them.» Just «no» and back to ignoring us.
As we finished looking around for anything interesting to buy, my GF spotted a Darth Vader Mr. Potato Head in a case by the door. She commented on how cute it was, and the owner glanced at us from his magazine, and said «yes, it’s not for sale.» And went RIGHT back to his magazine.
We’re more than happy to take our business elsewhere.

Came here for supplies for a project. It seemed a bit crowed, but such interesting stuff to look at.
Jim was cool. He tried helping me find materials that I couldn’t and when he couldn’t find it he looked for it online and gave me advise on where else I can find my materials.
Would come back to get some hobby design materials. Parking is on the street. Not much of a big sign stating it’s business, unless you’re a good driver.

Jim Cowling knows his stuff. There is a great collection of model trains and Rockets and scale model stuff… on the corner of Canoga Park Ave… my kid loves this place…
