Nice view but not optimal. Food was okay. We got a plastic piece in our dinner plate and the manager said they are sorry and would take care of the whole dinner. Later on we were informed by the three waitress that they will take care of the that one plate. Not really recommend.

The Shore provided the best possible anniversary dinner for my wife and I. From the very moment we walked up to the hostess stand to our final walk down the shore, we were extremely pleased with the staff, food and overall atmosphere. Upon walking up to the hostess stand and telling her our name, we were greeted with Happy Anniversary because I had told them upon making or reservation that it was our 1st anniversary. She then sat us and told us to again have a great anniversary dinner and also asked if we had done anything special during the day to celebrate. We were very impressed that she paid close attention to detail and it set the perfect tone for or dinner. We ordered a few appetizers which came out in a very timely fashion and were extremely delicious. Our steaks then arrived expertly prepared. My wife even said that her filet melted in her mouth. We sat outside and watched the sun set on the water and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We even enjoyed some music that was played at the wedding that was also going on. Thanks to the staff at The Shore we had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to go back!

We made a reservation at 7pm. We showed up promptly, only to be told they weren’t seating anyone because the kitchen was backed up. This is ridiculous especially when we call ahead & made a reservation with a party of nine. Not to mention we all traveled to visit family in Canandaigua. Some from philly, mass & maine! & on top of all that it was my boyfriends birthday– the main reason why we wanted to dine here… so we were left stranded and had to walk to the wine and culinary center which was an hour wait so we called Nolan’s right next door which was completely booked. Then finally we called bristol harbor and had no problem getting in. The service there was incredible and the view is so much nicer. Anyways, I will not be returning to the shore on the lake ever again. The hostess could have offered us to have a drink at the bar… or maybe CALLED us ahead of time to let us know they wouldn’t be able to serve us… yeah that would have been nice.

My wife and I had a wonderful all-vegan meal last night at The Shore. We celebrated our anniversary, and executive chef Sean Wolf took excellent care of us. I had emailed The Shore a few days in advance, asking what kinds of vegan options are available. Sean replied back and outlined some wonderful menu options. They sounded good, so we made a reservation. When we arrived for our dinner, Sean met us in person and again explained what his staff could prepare for us. We ended up getting the corn fritters as an appetizer, along with the roasted pineapple salad. Both were excellent. The fritters came with a delicious dipping sauce that was made from pineapple and vanilla. We ate outside on the patio and enjoyed the view of the lake. My wife ordered the cauliflower risotto for the entrée, while I had pesto angel hair pasta. The risotto was drizzled with a very flavorful demi-glacé made from roasted vegetables. The pesto was excellent, with flavors that were strong but nicely balanced. My wife and I both enjoyed our respective dishes, and my wife said that her wine was excellent, as well. Chef Wolf had prepared a special vegan dessert for us: coconut panna cotta with pears poached in red wine. I enjoyed the whole meal, but the dessert was definitely the high point for me. The panna cotta was incredible. I don’t recall ever eating a vegan dessert like that. Throughout the meal, Chef Wolf would stop by periodically to find out if we needed anything. Our hostess was also very attentive. We really felt like we were treated right. It’s not often that the executive chef prepares a special vegan meal for you. Incidentally, Chef Wolf indicated that he really appreciated that we contacted him in advance, so anyone requesting special accommodations should do the same. We’ll be back!

Went here with a party of 13 for the Mothers Day Brunch. I had heard good things about this place and decided to make the 1.5 hour trip there. We made reservations only to find out everybody in the entire place is seated at the same time, which leads to everybody getting food at the same time. The food was average and disappointed us, especially considering the $ 30.00 price. Our service was ok and we had no major problems. Upon the bill arriving, we gave our server cash and 2 credit cards to charge. The initial transaction went off without a problem and it was billed correctly. Upon receiving my credit card bill, I found that I was charged the entire amount! I immediately reported this problem to Karen, manager(?). After speaking with Karen numerous times, and many unreturned phone calls, I put a stop payment on my credit card. This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with a business and I hope my review will save future customers of this establishment!

We ate at the Shore on a recommendation from a friend who lives in the area, and I’m glad we took her advice! I was a little worried when we first entered the dining room, because it was very dark and formal, albeit with a spectacular view of Canandaigua Lake. I’m a vegan, and another member of our party is gluten free. Dining out can be a nightmare as we’re often made to feel like we’re a burden to the staff. I was so happy that the menu had a vegan entrée! When we asked our server about gluten free options, he suggested he introduce us to the chef. So the chef comes out, and he’s this gigantic man with a stern look in an impossibly white, starched jacket. And he proceeded to kneel at our table and outline all of the gluten free and vegan dishes he had to offer and even suggested ways to modify other dishes to fit our restrictions. He never seemed rushed or hurried although there were other tables in the dining room. He prepared three courses for us, each of which were delicious, but the Cauliflower risotto took the cake. It was sublime. There was actually no rice in the dish, but cauliflower grated to rice size and shape and cooked with vegetable stock and topped with falafel fritters. I write a vegan cooking blog and this was the best vegan dish I’ve eaten. The chef stopped out again while we were eating our entrees to make sure we were enjoying them. We expressed our appreciation and he mentioned that we might share our experience on Unilocal, and so I’m writing my first restaurant review. We were made to feel really welcome where we’re usually made to feel ostracized. It’s nice that people are finally beginning to embrace veganism and gluten free lifestyles. Kudos to Chef Sean and The Shore staff.

Checked in at 5, asked for a dinner res at 7, to give us time to look around this large hotel and have a drink at the waterfront bar. Was told they were booked and they could take us at 5 or 8. We chose 8. After a beer, we wanted apps to hold us over until our dinner reservation. We walked up to the patio, was told it was full, walked into the restaurant proper and it was virtually EMPTY, at 6PM. We asked to be seated, a table with a view of the lake, unfortunately they sat us right by the door and every time the wait staff served the patio, we got a blast of hot air. After ordering drinks, I added a shrimp cocktail to my order. My wife ordered a bisque. The beer was a local IPA, which had a yeasty aftertaste. Bleh. After an seemingly endless wait, our apps arrived. I sent the beer back in favor of a martini with a twist. I got a good sized drink with a lemon wedge perched on the rim. WTF? I was told that this was a «4-star» restaurant, so the slow service was disappointing. When the food arrived, the quality was pretty good. The shrimp were not jumbo but decently large, and they gave me 5 instead of the 4 the waitress said came with the order. The bisque was reported to be good. My ribeye steak was cooked properly, a little fatty, the mashed potatoes a little cool, warm, not hot. Green beans were okay. Dessert cheesecake was tasty, the coffee less so. The décor was dark, damp and grimy. The chairs were awkward to move and mine felt like the cushion was worn out. All in all, a lot less that we expected. Price was on par with what you would expect to pay at a better restaurant. Sadly, this place has a captive audience and management had gotten complacent. Pass on this in-hotel stop and find a local place who has to succeed on its own merits.
