Coffee is great, small place, we sat for awhile waiting to go on the Canandaigua food tour. First it’s all about the coffee here and the real reason to go! But we got both the coffee and the drama lol! The owner here is very nice, however other shop owners nearby come into her shop with all types of dramatic stories. So if you want to hear some«local talk» hang around for some doozies! The one star minus is for the drama… but it’s all about the coffee!

Very cute café in the small town of Canandaigua. They have a lot of specialty lattes and great flavor shots you can add for an additional $.50, but I went with a regular latte when I went, and was pleased. The guy who was working told me to try it and make sure it was made perfect before I paid, which is not the kind of service you receive everywhere. Not a lot of seating, so this is not a great café to hang out at, but is nice if you’re just looking to grab something to go. I love Starbucks coffee, but I will definitely go again to support this great local business.

The Dalai Java is the ultimate intimate, personal coffee place in the Finger Lakes. The coffee is organic, fair trade and is roasted locally by Ben and Karen, the young and very groovy new owners. The DJ has an affiliation with the slow food and snack movement in the Canandaigua area, so the soups and many goodies are home made. Lots of local artists have their wares on the walls and shelves. Lots of local characters and stories abound. If you want to discuss anything from the Winter Market in the Antis Street parking lot behind the DJ, cars, art, exercise and more, stop at the DJ.

Love the cute hole in the wall coffee shop atmosphere, but when a «simple» vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso is made from a premixed jug with an excessive amount of vanilla then you should expect a 3 star review. $ 5+ for a latte that I had to throw away because it tasted like I was drinking vanilla milk. I’m only visiting in Canandaigua for a few days so I could have had the one bad experience and this place could actually be the best place in town… I’ll leave that for you to decide

I love this place. Very local, excellent mochas and locally roasted coffees. Lots of local products, like honey, chocolates, but butters. But their coffee and mocha draw me here. And the relaxed atmosphere.

just ground and brewed the beans at home– my TERRIBLE coffee making streak is OVER! I made decent coffee! It was the Nicaragua blend and I bought whole beans.

I’ve been here a few times now, and only had their iced coffee, but judging based on the quality of that iced coffee(excellent, in case you were wondering), I’m sure the other coffee drinks are up to par. The place itself is small, with just two indoor tables and one outdoors, and the owner is usually manning the counter.
