History

Established in 2015.

In November of 1987, The Inn at SharonBrooke opened and was the first free standing assisted living facility in Ohio. It was a success and offered a complete prototype for building again. Partnering with other healthcare professionals, as well as a national provider, McClain and Donaldson moved forward to develop facilities throughout Ohio, totaling twenty facilities to date. Today, they continue to enhance and strengthen their model and concept with each new project they embark upon.

Meet the Business Owner

Jerry M.

Business Owner

Beverly Donaldson, a registered nurse, worked as a nursing supervisor at a full skilled nursing facility, «nursing home» in 1986. There she witnessed firsthand the environment our seniors were living in and had a vision of another option where seniors could live in a more homelike setting, not an institutionalized one. She took her ideas to her father, Jerry McClain, a developer and general contractor known for quality construction and his business acumen in their hometown community of Newark, Ohio.

With the possessed knowledge of their respective professions and abundant business and medical contacts, Jerry and Bev organized focus groups and did extensive research to develop their ideas into a business model and building plan. This crystallized concept was fueled by the philosophy to enrich the physical and social lifestyles of seniors by providing the utmost in personalized care and services.
