A wedding is a once in a lifetime event, where every person in the world that is important to you will be gathered in one place at one time to honor you. To us, it is of paramount importance that this day be fun and relaxed for you: your vision of the perfect party — brought to life! Help plan with you not only all of the normal details (i.e. names of bridal party, first dance song, people giving toasts, etc.), but also the special things that we can do together to make this day truly yours, your finance’s and your families.

Our all-inclusive, wedding package features all of your ceremony music and wireless mic coverage, separate cocktail hour coverage and then dinner and dancing for a total of up to 6 hours. Additionally, we play a wide variety of music emphasizing your and your guests’ requests, act as your MC and go through our complete pre-wedding planning process with you.

History

Established in 1990.

We are a close-knit, fun-loving company of DJs, working together to provide excellence in every facet of our service.

The company founders, 17-time Best DJ reader poll winners «DJ Adrian» Cavlan and «King Raffi» Nalvarian (Mix 106.5 Live 105 radio fame), have personally dedicated themselves to the achievement of this goal for a combined total of more than 30 years in the event industry. They have put together a like-minded team of enthusiastic, energetic, long-term employees who have not only passed through one of the most rigorous DJ training programs in the business, but also have remained committed to their continuing education and development in the arts of DJing and MCing.

From SF to Carmel, the name Sound In Motion can be found on the preferred vendor lists of many of the area’s top event locations. Manager

From 5 Star Weddings to Top-40 club nights and from product release parties to professional sporting events, DJ Kevin has the Experience to make any event a complete success.

Kevin started as a DJ with Sound in Motion as a Part time job while earning his Degree in Theater Arts at UCSC. Since then he has climbed steadily within the company to become one of our top DJs. In 2006 he was the recipient of the Best Club DJ award in Santa Cruz, as voted by the Metro Goldies readers Poll.

For the past 3 years Kevin also had the Privilege of acting as the Official Pre-Game DJ and MC for the 49ers, spinning at every home game and amping up the 49ers Fans!

What started as a part time job is now a Career, as Kevin has recently opened Sound In Motion’s San Francisco Regional Office.

His vast knowledge of weddings and events, as well as his familiarity with our entire staff, and venues throughout the bay area will put your worries to rest after just a few minutes of chatting on the phone.

My wife and I used Sound in Motion for our wedding and they did an amazing job. Our DJ was Logan Andren and he did a great job. We met up with him twice before the big day and he helped us put together a great playlist for our wedding. He also helped us splice together three songs we wanted to use for our slideshow which saved us so much time. Logan really allowed us to not worry about the music and focus on other things that we had to do. He really put us at ease with all the meetings and emails before the event. The day of the wedding Logan did an outstanding job DJing and MCing and made sure everything went smoothly. A DJ can make or break an event and Logan did everything he could to help make our day special. My wife and I were told by many of our guests that they were very impressed by Logan and Sound in Motion. We would definitely use Logan and Sound in Motion whenever in the future we need a DJ.

My now husband and I used Sound in Motion to DJ our wedding last weekend. DJ Brian Covington was awesome! He met with us, kept in touch with us and reassured us that things would go smoothly the day of our wedding. We really felt like he went above and beyond to help make things go smoothly. All that aside, he kept our wedding guests dancing all night! Even I couldn’t stop dancing and I had to greet guests at the same time. We had so much fun! He was professional and at the same time laid back and easy to get along with. We felt comfortable with him and my wedding party was particularly impressed that he got all their names right when they were introduced.

We hired Andy Acker through Sound in Motion for our July 2015 wedding at Seascape, and were thoroughly happy with him a as a DJ. His communication with us beforehand (emails, a few brief phone calls and one in-person meeting about a month out) took just the right amount of time and attention. He was thorough while still being concise and efficient, which is pretty much what you want from a vendor in the weeks leading up to the wedding.
On the day itself Andy did a great job of setting up and managing the sound, both during the outdoor ceremony and the indoor reception. The ceremony was on a windy bluff with several people wearing wireless mics (plus a harpist and a few others using wired mics), but the sound coverage and quality were great. At the reception itself Andy guided the introductions, toasts and speeches without becoming the center of attention.
On top of that he really read the crowd well, picking song choices that fit the vibe and giving attention both the older and the younger members of the crowd and generally satisfying everyone. His selections matched our taste in music well, just based on a few emails and a 1-hour conversation. Little things like this plus attention to many other small (but important) details really made for a truly excellent DJ experience.

We had a wonderful time with Sound in Motion! Raffi was our DJ, and he was a treat to work with both in the months leading up to our wedding and during the event itself. That ends up mattering quite a lot, and I was proud to see how elegantly everything came together. We were actually recommended to work with Raffi through our wedding venue, since they had always had such positive experiences with him.
Raffi gave us more than just DJ services during the reception. We also rented an excellent photobooth from Sound in Motion (looking at the pictures now still makes us giggle). Raffi provided music on a mobile speaker setup for our Indian-style baraat/procession. And most importantly, Raffi provided all the sound system and microphone setup for our ceremony itself. We put a LOT of thought into our ceremony, and it was a relief to know that we wouldn’t have to worry one bit about the audio. Everything worked perfectly.
Raffi was an especially good choice for us because we had a joint Indian-Mexican wedding, and we wanted to make sure that our DJ could understand the rhythm and pace of what we had in mind. Raffi was very experienced and brought a lot of knowledge and energy to our process. He even listened to a number of Bollywood songs to familiarize himself with some of the music we wanted. He gave us many ideas that we hadn’t even thought of before.
Furthermore, I enjoyed the software that Sound in Motion uses to have you select your must-play and must-not-play songs. It wasn’t the most modern looking, but it brought up song suggestions really well and gave me a number of ways to choose and organize my songs. It helped me organize my thoughts while planning.
All in all, I’d certainly recommend Raffi and Sound in Motion for any event, and especially for a wedding. You won’t go wrong!

Sound in Motion was very easy to work with from my first conversation with Raffi to the last dance with DJ Logan Andren. Logan came to our house ahead of time and met with us to fully understand the «feeling» we wanted throughout the party. He also met with The Holly Farm and made sure he understood all the logistics there. The Italian Dinner music was perfect as was the dance mix played later. Logan was friendly and professional. I’d highly recommend him and Sound in Motion for your wedding or party.

Long overdue but definitely not overlooked!
I’m an event coordinator and I worked alongside of Matthew for a San Francisco wedding 7÷25÷15. It’s really awesome as a vendor to be paired up with another vendor who can work as efficiently, professionally and swiftly as you – and that’s what Matt delivered that evening.
Not only did he exude confidence on the mic and in his song selection, but he was SUPER enthusiastic and charming emceeing the program. I’ve come across many emcees who have awkward transitions and say inappropriate joke/lines, but not Matt. Because we both worked in harmony, he was able to keep the timeline moving and it was refreshing each time he had a comment or announcement made. Matt is one smooth operator and definitely worth bringing onboard to be part of any event!
Hire Matt and you won’t regret having one of the most coolest DJ/emcees I’ve encountered in this industry!

Without a doubt, of all the vendors I worked with for our wedding Logan was our favorite!!!
First of all, Sound in Motion was super professional and got back to me right away after I first emailed them and had availability for a pretty last minute wedding. They seemed like a good company and the price was right so I went for it. They had me pick a DJ and really with minimal to go off of we picked Logan and are so so happy we did!
Logan is so friendly and hilarious and appreciates humor and made our first meeting so fun and productive, though I’m surprised we got so much done because I feel like we just laughed the whole time. He had a lot of good ideas and positive feedback… It was really nice to just have a moment of planning that felt like relaxing. I had some various tricky requests that he made come to life seamlessly and we had some tricky names too that he conquered no problemo.
I also had last minute song requests the night before which he played all of and he kept the dance floor going all night. I may be biased towards my wedding but I also know I’m not being biased when I say it the best DJ I’ve ever seen at a wedding and only one other maybe comes close. He did a great job of not being too prominent of a figure like he wanted to be center of attention (as I have seen at some weddings) but still making nice announcements and keeping everything running smoothly. We had so much fun dancing at our wedding and so did everyone else. Literally almost everyone was on the dance floor and stayed the entire time. I saw family members of mine dance that I have never seen dance before… it was amazing.
And the best thing ever was being surprised months later with all of the toasts that were recorded. That was PRICELESS and the best thing ever. Shows how he goes over the top. Logan truly seems passionate about this job and hobby and we are so thankful!

We had Logan DJ for our wedding on 9÷5÷15 and he went above and beyond our expectations.
First, everyone we worked with at Sound in Motion was really on top of things. I like their form to collect all the music information, which helped keep us organized and keep appointments and phone calls to a minimum.
But as far as day of — Logan was perfect. At first, I was on the fence about a DJ. But his music selection was so great — for both younger and older guests, MC’ing skills top notch and he really kept on top of our schedule to make sure we got to everything.
After the wedding, I had multiple guests even comment to me how much they liked the music and how good of a job Logan did fitting in their requests. I would definitely recommend for anyone else holding an event.
My only downside to sound in motion was that we added on uplighting and for our venue, I just didn’t think it added too much. So definitely think about it before adding on.

Our beginning stages of planning with Sound in Motion didn’t go too well at first. We were passed around a few times by different people in their staff. It got a bit confusing and we were initially disappointed and were looking for other options. But once we met Frank, our frustrations were eased.
Frank is amazing! He took really great care of us for our wedding recently and we had such a great experience with him. He was so kind, helpful, positive and enthusiastic — exactly what you’d want in a MC/DJ! He was totally cool with all of our [kind of obscure] song choices and made our entire wedding flow seamlessly. He knew exactly how to plan the evening with us at the Silicon Valley Capital Club. It was a comfort to know he knew the venue so well.
Their online customer portal needs an update though. It wasn’t very user friendly and there is a whole lot of text that we just don’t have time to get through. If this was simplified, they’d be golden!

We had Brandon as the DJ for our wedding and he did a fantastic job. We were able to meet with him in person before the wedding to discuss timelines, music styles, and all the small details required to make the night work out.
For the night of the wedding, Brandon was very professional and provided the audio and lighting for both our ceremony and reception. Everything went very smoothly and the dance itself turned out to be great.
The best part of Sound in Motion is their online portal. My wife and I are super busy with work and we usually ended up working on the wedding late at night. With their online portal we were able to choose all the songs for our wedding automatically without having to go back and forth with emails or phone calls. Being able to do that was a huge time saver.
Overall, we were very satisfied with SIM and Brandon and would recommend them for your wedding or event.

I had the pleasure of working with DJ Raffi this past weekend. As a wedding planner, it makes my job so much easier to have an awesome team to work with. Raffi is BEYOND awesome!
When my clients first started looking for a DJ, I wasn’t sure if they should go with Raffi since he was out of their budget, but after reading all of his great reviews, they were convinced. In the meeting before the wedding, he gave great suggestions on the timeline, and on the wedding day, he totally exceeded my expectations.
His voice is very commanding, and he makes his presence known as the MC. You want a great MC that will get the attention of guests, make the flow of the reception seamless, and get the party started and going. Raffi did all of this and more. He’s SOOO FUN to work with, you will not be disappointed with his services.
I can’t wait to work with him again! FIVE stars all the way !!

We had Logan Andren from Sound in Motion DJ at our wedding last weekend, and he was fantastic. Friendly with great suggestions on which songs to use for each part of the event. At every step of the way, he was accommodating and answered all of our questions. Music is very important to us, so he made sure the sentimental music we had for the ceremony was cut properly and at a comfortable volume for our guests. As an MC during the reception, he welcomed everyone warmly and gave us all the support we needed to keep things running on-time, with the toasts delivered at the right time and the right music cued up for every step, e.g., the bouquet toss, the cake cutting.
More important than anything else, Logan had a casual, confident, and approachable disposition. I’d hire him again in a heartbeat!

I was looking for DJ entertainment for an event at the Mountain Winery for a corporate event for 200 people, and they had recommended Sound in Motion. I reached out to a few other people in the corporate world and personally, and they all came back with the same name! It is clear why.
These guys are amazing! Friendly, courteous, accommodating, and just plain fun!
I emailed them at 9:00 PM, and had a response within the hour. Very responsive! I had the event nailed down by they nest afternoon.
I worked with Brandon and Frank, they not only provided great music, but they listen to all of my requests, and added some of their own, based on my needs. It was clear that they paid very close attention to my requests, and had great instincts for what will make their clients happy
I was thinking about a photo booth, and as luck would have it; they also offered this service. This was also a huge hit for the day, and they made it so much fun.
I will definitely use them again, and will recommend them to anyone needing such a service.

It has only been the second day after our wedding and I just couldn’t wait to write a review for Nick Conforti. When I first met Nick during our consultation meeting over a year ago, he was professional, personable, and was able to answer all of my questions with a great deal of confidence. My fiancé at the time wasn’t able to attend the meeting, but that didn’t stop Nick from wanting to get to know the both of us as a couple. Nick was interested in hearing about our love story and how we got to where we were at.
At our follow up meeting Nick was very thorough with the planning process. From beginning to end, he gave us step by step information for the day of that we didn’t have much to ask him at the end of the meeting.
On our wedding day Nick was the MC and DJ. The music for our ceremony was exactly what I wanted and the lyrics and chorus to the songs were ‘on point’. I’m not sure of how he did it so effortlessly, but like one of our guest said: «it was like music from a motion picture». Our guests were dancing all night and when Nick announced the last two songs, the only thing the I heard was the chant: «one more song» repeatedly.
As a client, and a bride that was on a mission for the most perfect day of her life, I can honestly say that my childhood vision of the most perfect day in my life was met! Thank you Nick Conforti and Sound in Motion for the most EPIC moment!
