Residence Inn San Jose Campbell

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We got in pretty late at night and were all really tired. Check in was all of 5 min. which was nice because we just wanted to get in and get to bed. The room was great, clean and the perfect size. We were traveling with two kids and the kitchen, bathroom and pull out sleeper sofa were just right. The room was clean and kitchen fully stocked with everything you need.
Staff were always courteous and the continental breakfast that is included with the room price was the best we’ve ever had. They had a great variety of foods from waffles, eggs, potatoes, sausage, hot and cold cereal, drinks etc. It was so worth it! and the breakfast hours weren’t some ridiculous 6 – 8 am or something crazy like that. They were very reasonable which gave us enough time to get up, dressed and make it over in to eat. Another thing that was great is the food stayed hot and fully stocked. Not like other places where they put out a certain amount and when its gone its gone. Again a bonus when you are traveling with kids… we will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

I love the Residence Inn but this one is ugly! It’s in a horrible neighborhood surrounded by bars and liquor stores, FYI — in case you are traveling with children. The customer service here is excellent, so I gave them the 2 stars, but the décor and carpet are horrendous, the windows have no screens, and my youngest daughter got bitten by bugs overnight. FYI — if you don’t request the room to be cleaned DAILY, it won’t be done until very late, today it’s 4:20 p.m. and they have yet come by. I will never stay here again, we had no choice since my husband came for business and all the nice ones didn’t have a 2 bedroom suite available this week. Glad to be leaving today! YIKES!

I came here have zero expectations but I was wrong. I’m giving this a 5 star not because it was perfect. I almost never give 5 stars but there are so many things right at this hotel.
Staff: incredible and courteous at every interaction.
Gym: not big but free weights, elliptical and tread meal. Free weights were in good shape and a bench was there to boot.
Food: OMG the food is great. It’s not outback steak house but it’s incredible. First night was chorizo taco night and apocalypse IPA on tap and cold!
Room: great queen bed, nice kitchen and while the room is an older room it was clean.
If I ever come back to this are there is no doubt I’ll be coming back.

Stay in a studio suite; their choice of furniture and there arrangement made the room small. The room is good for one person. Bathroom would not close and toilet seat was broken. There must not be a lot of insulation in the walls because you can hear your neighbor pretty clear. Breakfast was very nice; a good selection of food and drink. The parking is a little tight and the lighting is poor.

when my daughter and family moved here 4 years ago we spent the better half of 4 months in this hotel. 4 years later and many more stays here. I find that the service and staff are as good as ever. This is my go to place now when I come to visit them. Everyone at the front desk to the managers, to housekeeeping cant do enough to make your stays more pleasant. The topper is Fernando and his wife who make the best hot breakfast and dinner. I highly recommended you stay here.

Excellent value for money.
The staff is very pleasant, let us check in at noon instead of 3, service is super efficient (we didn’t have a dial tone in one of the phones and there was a wet area in the carpet from cleaning prior to our arrival, they sent someone to fix these things within 15 minutes), clean apartment, stocked kitchen, large apartment, 2 LCD TVs, excellent WIFI (they have an option to upgrade the speed for $ 5 a day, but their free service is super fast and we saw no need for an upgrade, quiet (I could have sworn we are the only guests in the place, it was so quiet), free tasty breakfast.
The only con for me was the beds, they are double and not queen. However, they are comfy and clean.
Other than that, a gem.

I was kind or wary when I pulled up and began to regret booking here, the outside of the property looked kind of run down and looks like it is in serious need of a facelift and some grounds work. The guy that checked me in was very nice and I ran across a couple of staff members while trying to find my room. And they were super helpful and friendly.
Once I got into my room, all of my regrets faded away. My room is clean and spacious, with space for everything I need to do while I’m in San Jose. Sleep, work, lounge on the sofa and watch tv, cook (which I doubt I will be doing) but all of the appliances (nice and new looking too) including stove are full sized and the fridge has an ice maker and even the coffee pot is a full sized coffee pot.
Oh yeah, and there is a wood burning fireplace. Also, when you turn on the tv, you go straight to the TV, you don’t have to weave your way through stupid hotel menus in order to get to a channel.
The hotel has free hot breakfast every day, including DIY waffles, free wifi and parking. They also have evening guest welcome night 3 or 4 nights a week, which includes wine, beer and appetizers.
I am very pleased that I chose this hotel and from now on, this is where I will be staying whenever I come.

Overpriced, dangerous, incompetent, and incapable of guest service. You have many options — use them.
This hotel is in a decent location but it has high criminal traffic. In the TWO HOURS I was there I heard a gunshot, I saw a crime, a car dumped, the police called, and another guest putting his motorcycle inside his room because he was concerned about the continuing escalating criminal activity. He told the night desk clerk that «things were getting out of hand». Groups of people were staying in rooms with high traffic which I witnessed while waiting for the police to respond to my truck being blocked by the abandoned car. The police determined that the responsibility to remove the car was the properties. The night desk clerk was doing all he could to help but had no options or power. For 2 hours I waited while the night desk clerk repeatedly told me he would have the car towed; for him to then tell me, now 4 am, that the car could not be removed and I would have to wait until the owner of the car returned. This abandoned car was blocking FOUR vehicles and the property could do nothing?! In addition to their lack of action to remove the car they did nothing to offer any assistance with my needs. I explained I was diabetic and needed food and medication. He asked if i wanted him to call me a cab or an ambulance. wow. The manager was still not responding to his repeated calls, so he truly could not do anything. Since I was not a guest, only dropping a guest off, I had no where to wait comfortably at 2 am and was not offered accommodations or food.
A few hours later the maintenance man arrived and began helping the guest with the vehicle parked next to mine navigate their vehicle out. I immediately ran to my truck and explained I had been trapped for 5 hours and needed to leave immediately. At that time a guest of the property asked the maintenance man what was going on with the car. He then began to ignore me and told her there was nothing they could do and he was sorry. I said «everyone is sorry» and he turned to me and said «Don’t give me attitude» «I don’t have to help you», and walked away. AMAZING HOSPITALITY! (I was able to get my vehicle out on my own.) I then went to the front desk to speak to a manager and identified myself as the «woman with the trapped truck» and was told «oh yea, there is no manager here».
Broken lamps were discarded by the dumpsters which looked trashy and the same broken lamps were inside the rooms. The property was dark with a lot of bushes. This seems to provide more opportunities for crime. It is obvious that the traffic is not guests coming and going.
For $ 350 a night they can afford a manager and property patrol.

Let me just say impressive. We arrived eariler than expected and Erika at the front desk was most helpful. We were able to check in immediately. The room is spectacular. Plus hiw can you not love a place that has breakfast, dinner and drinks included. We will return.

Roaches in the room… Seen 6, but you know what they say… Where there’s 1 there are certainly more…
Called the the front desk… Agent did apologize but if didn’t feel genuine…

I like this kind of hotel especially when it comes with complementary hot breakfast and dinner! Breakfast comes with make-​your-​own-​waffles, oatmeal, bagels, english muffins, yogurt, milk, apple juice, orange juice (you can drink pop in the morning), scrambled eggs and the breakfast differs each day. Dinner happens from Monday-​Thursday with each day serving something different. I was there for Nacho Night.
They have a kitchen that comes with some glasses as well as some pots and pans for you to use as well as a fridge. The room comes with a bed and sofa that can also be turned into a bed.
The pool is rather small though. :-(
The front desk is really nice though, always ready to help you out!

This one was a good one! We love Marriot properties and this one did not disappoint. the room was nice, full kitchen, pull out couch, wood burning fireplaces and wonderful hot breakfast! The bed was way too firm for me but I am sure most like that. We are house shopping so it was convenient. We are headed back to the same spot this coming weekend as well because it was such good experience. Its layout is more like a condo or apartment setting rather than hotel so your not walking down hallways, elevators etc… we liked it a lot!

Massive damage to my house has caused me to live in hotels until construction is complete. Thank god for homeowners insurance. First we stayed at Staybridge for three months it was nice but nothing special to talk about. But then we moved here. Moving from one hotel to the next with only a matter of hours to do it is difficult, we had to be out of one and check into another with a few hours gap in between and a car full of stuff. Luckily for me Islya (front desk) was here to save the day. Even though it was not our check in time she had someone help us with our bags and bring them to our room hours early. She must’ve known we were tired because then she offered us complementary drinks and helped us to relax and unwind after a very stressful day. We have been here a little over a month now and every day we see her, she asks how we are doing, how the house is going, and is been so helpful and understanding about our situation (as has the rest of the staff). We got the penthouse suite for two months (thank God for homeowner insurance) and it’s truly amazing. Granted the stairs do get tiring still I guess I’m just lazy… lol.
This place is amazing, the only complaint anyone could have is the parking. It is very hard to find parking during the busy times of the week especially at night but such is a small sacrifice for such amazing guest services

I’m a pretty die hard Marriott girl and although I wasn’t staying at a Courtyard, this place was just as nice! First, the girl who checked me in is just fantastic. I literally wanted to recruit her to my company. She is THAT nice, THAT accommodating, and THAT friendly. She also handed me a bottled water and a cookie which was a nice touch. I got upgraded to the penthouse suite (ohhhhh yeahhhh) which consisted of two levels with separate beds and bathrooms. The kitchen was very nicely updated with stainless appliances and granite countertops. I love that they also give coffee, tea, and POPCORN to each of their guests! It was quiet, the tvs worked well and even swiveled around so you could watch them while getting ready in the morning, and had blackout curtains. The reception area does offer a free breakfast, free dinner, and cocktails during certain hours. This girl is a fan of a free cocktail! The night I went down they even offered me an entire bottle of wine to take back to my room! The only complaints were that the parking lot is small and does fill up. It’s also hard to maneuver around in even a compact rental! Also, my shower did run out of hot water the first night… But I do love a long shower. Maybe that was my fault. :)
Overall it’s a fantastic hotel for any kind of traveler! When I travel I’m gone for a week at a time, so it’s nice to have the a home away from home vs just a room!

The hotel and staff are awesome! This hotel is great for a sports team. They have a bbq area which is great!

Paper thin walls and ceilings. Staying in ground floor room and have been listening to people in room above me walk around for the last hour. It is 1:20AM.
I have stayed here before and had a good experience but won’t stay again due to risk of no sleep and plenty of other options nearby.

I stayed here on a recent business trip to San Jose. If you’ve ever stayed at a Residence Inn you know what to expect, so skip to the third paragraph of this review.
Since you’re reading this paragraph, I’ll assume you haven’t stayed at a Residence Inn. Residence Inn is a brand owned by Marriott. Basically, they’re like studio apartments, with a full bathroom, kitchen, and living area, and that’s exactly what I got when I stayed here. The décor and furnishings are more like a Hampton Inn/​Holiday Inn Express (that line of hotels).
This particular hotel was okay. The room was nice and clean, housekeeping did a good job keeping the room clean. The area seemed to be pretty safe and they serve a nice complimentary breakfast daily and light dinner most nights. The problem was that the parking lot is really tiny. Everyday that I came back to the hotel I had a hard time finding a place to park, and even then I had a hard time finding a spot where I could fit my rented small SUV (a Hyundai Santa-​Fe). There is a «Reserved» spot for one particular hotel room, which I found odd and a couple of spots wasted by some construction trailer. This was a little frustrating.
The front desk staff was pleasant, and those were the only employees I really encountered during my stay. I can’t comment on anyone else. Make sure that if you head down for breakfast, get down there before 9 am. Despite the fact that they tell you that breakfast closes at 9:30, they stop stocking the breakfast bar around 9 am and you have to ask for stuff. I realize they want to get it cleaned up, but they should at least keep things stocked until closer to 9:30.
Also, I requested a King non-​smoking room, which I got… but it’s handicapped-​accessible. I am not handicapped and I don’t particularly care for the wheelchair showers in these rooms. There wasn’t another king non-​smoking room available for me.
If coming back to the San Jose area, I’d stay here again. I would make sure to specifically request no handicapped rooms, though.

Stayed in the penthouse suite (two-​story with bedroom on first floor and one in the loft) and it was just the right amount of room for 5 people total. We even had a fully stocked kitchen!
Our room was thankfully cockroach-​free and very clean.
Easy enough to find a parking spot (despite our group coming from different locations in 5 different cars).
Continental breakfast is amazing, and dinners during the week are just as good. If you get breakfast on the weekend, go early to avoid the rush at the end. Sausage. eggs. potatoes, waffles, soda, water, juice, yogurt, fruit, muffin, pastries, toast, cereal — oh so good.
Blackout curtains were awesome.
Minus a star for the wired internet not working.

5 stars because for it not being a 5 star hotel, or even A hotel, it definitely lives up to high standards. It’s located just up the street from highway 85, close to a dive bar and near a grocery store (Cosentino’s). There’s a fully stocked kitchen here too; imagine a mini apartment. They also include breakfast I think.

I’ve currently been in this hotel for 1 week and have about 7 more weeks here. I’m in a «rehabilitation» program for my shoulder injury and the insurance company set me up to stay here for the duration of the program.
When I arrived the staff knew exactly who I was and greeted me like I was arriving to a first class hotel. They checked me in with ease and walked me to my room which I thought was great, considering they had confusing signs showing the direction to the room.
Once inside the hotel, I was taken aback by the set up. It’s more like an apartment than a hotel. They have everything here, down to the dishwasher, pots/​pans, dishes… CAN OPENER! COME ON! WHAT HOTEL HAS A CAN OPENER? The maid service is wonderful and very friendly also. They even have these cute magnets you can stick on the outside of your door indicating to «come back later» or «no service», which we found more useful than a doorknob sign.
They have a breakfast and dinner service in the dining hall free of charge, a computer with a printer, swimming pool and hot tub, a mini market in the office and the fitness center has tv’s mounted to the stairmaster and treadmills!
I had breakfast one morning in the dining hall during my 1^st week here and one of the front desk clerks came over to ensure I was having a pleasurable stay here. I felt that was so thoughtful of her.
Since I dont know the pricing of the hotel, I cant comment on it, but the service is outstanding! I would highly recommend anyone to stay here based on the wonderful customer service, clean and well maintained interior and exterior of the hotel and food service they offer to the guests staying here.
