I had Quality First Home Improvement install retrofit double pane windows. The customer service was great! The installers showed up on time, were polite, did the job well and cleaned up after themselves. When there was a problem with the kitchen garden window with the caulking they fixed it. When the screen for my sliding glass door developed a tear, they replaced it. When they removed the old sliding glass doors and surrounding molding, there was a gap between the new molding and the walls, which they filled in. Four months later I received a follow up call and when I said that there was moisture between the panes of one window and that some of the vinyl stripping below another window was coming lose, they arranged a housecall within one week. They appreciate the need for quality workmanship and esthetically pleasing results. I am very pleased!

A salesman showed up at my door so decided to see what was up. He started what appeared to be some sort of script quickly interrupted him and informed him I was on my computer taking an online course and was in a hurry. He apologized and started the script again. Stopped him again and explained all that he had to say was not going to be any part of me deciding to use or not use the company he represented. His next comment was what a nice house we had and how we seem to like to take care of it. Once again interrupted him and explained all my decisions for projects based on reviews. Asked him for a card assured him I would check out the reviews for this contractor and base my decision on that information. He agreed and started his script talk again. That was it told him give me your card and I will read reviews and go from there, we are done here.
End of conversation.

This is a very unreliable company. We ordered a patio cover with a peeked roof fully covered because of our neighbors trees. What we ended up getting was what they called a pan roof which is channeled. Now the debris falls in the channels and clogs the roof. Communication was practically nonexistent. The crews would come in work a few days then nothing for days after. Now we get a call from the city telling us the final inspection was never completed and when they came to inspect, there are problems that need fixing! Surprise! We can not escape this company!

WORST COMPANY EVER! Beware of this company and their un-​ethical pushy sales people. i am a disable vet and how their team treated me is unbelievable. I was looking for help with my garage door and they canceled on me twice. Now they wont stop calling me because they want the sale. It is an absolute joke. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. READ THE REVIEWS!!! Their reasons for the bad Unilocal reviews are hilarious as well.

They’re running a comedy show in this company. I started looking at HomeAdvisor for kitchen remodeling options. They call me 30 minutes after that and schedule an appointment on next Monday 7pm. Monday comes, we’re sitting at home waiting for them, no body shows up. Tuesday I get a call from them saying they came out but we were not home. I confirmed that they have the correct address and told them we were home, they were sorry and scheduled another meeting on Wednesday 7pm. Wednesday comes, we’re home waiting, no body shows up, no phone calls or anything. Thursday someone calls and tells me he’ll be in the are next week, I told him what happened and he was surprised, he didn’t have anything on his scheduled about us, he wasn’t even in the area. Friday someone else calls me again from the same company tells me they don’t know what’s going on, are you kidding! you don’t even know what’s going on!, anyways I was pissed off but they talked me into scheduling another appointment on Monday 7pm again. Next Monday comes 7pm, we’re at home waiting for them, no body shows up, no body calls.
Do not work with them.

Not perfect, but these guys have it where it really counts. It’s a huge bummer that all the canvassing has dragged their Unilocal rating so low (they don’t deserve that).
Like all contractors worth anything, they have slightly pushy sales staff (though not overbearingly so) and the occasional scheduling and communication problem. But these things are mildly annoying, not deal-​killers.
To be totally clear: I’ve never encountered a 5-​star home contractor except for very small (one-​person) jobs. These guys are about as good as you get for what they are.
I do a ton of project management in my day job, so I suppose I’m a bit more sympathetic to the slings-​and-​arrows of lead times and trying to keep everyone’s work queues full than the average customer. If you aren’t, QF isn’t going to make you very happy (but then again, neither is any other contractor for a non-​trivial job).
We did roof and solar with them and have been very impressed with the quality of the work. At the end, they were wonderfully patient with my wife and me, got the job done quickly and professionally once we were ready, and their product was absolutely above reproach. The guys know their stuff and are operationally on-​point. Financing options were right where they should be (though obviously if you have an existing HELOC or similar, use that).
When it’s all said-​and-​done, that’s all that really matters – the quality of the work itself. These guys don’t cut corners and don’t skimp out on the quality of the product and IMO it’s worth a bit of inconvenience to get that.

These people came to our neighborhood the other day. Two people knocked on our door. We said no thank you as we were literally on our way out the door. They would not leave! We were polite in the beginning but got quite stern. The person’s name on the flyer was Danielle Colette at (800) 859−7494…

Your company called again today. You gonna blame the software again?

It’s rude to keep calling after I have clearly said do not call me anymore.

Yesterday I called the Quality First asking them if they could come over and do the estimate on our roof. Right from the start I was asked if I have a spouse and when he will be home, because they need both adults to be present for… WHAT?.. All right, I gave them the time after 6 pm, and they made an appointment for 6:30 pm.
Today, right on time, the sales rep. came. Partially I expected something like that but was still disappointed. First, the person didn’t even climb on the roof to see/​measure it. He did a rough estimate of our pitch, saying that he’s pretty sure we can do shingles. Then he roughly measured our house, drawing the image/​measurements on some piece of paper. After that he asked us to give him a few minutes to give us his quota. (That was interesting. Most contractors take measurements, pictures, and then go home/​to the office to do the rest. They usually send you the document outlining all the things that is planned to be done with pricing for each item.)
After he got done with our quota, he started to semi-​explain things. He explained that our roof is going to be 17 squares, and the price for that would be 14 000+. Their price seemed to be higher than we expected, so we asked him to split it up by what’s being done for this price. He told us that one square is done for the price of $ 805, and then we will have to have our tar roof removed, which will be additional $ 79 a square, on top of that we’ll have some dry rot replaced/​fixed and gutters added which will add by his approximation another $ 1800+ (he couldn’t quite specify how much exactly will be each job). Then he suggested we sign the contract right there and then.
We refused saying that it is much more than we expected, so we would like to ‘sleep on it’ for a few days. He then started to push it asking what he could do to sell it today. He offered us a ‘better price’, which became almost $ 2000 less than the original proposal. We were still not convinced, we want to go with the contract right there and then. We asked if the project manager can come over and assess the job proposed and pricing before we sign anything, but were turned down by saying that no one will come unless we give them $ 1000 deposit. (That was disheartening.)
We then asked what is the ‘cancellation’ policy if we decide to cancel, and were informed, that it is 3 business days from today. I then asked what is the process and the representative informed me that it’s enough to call back and cancel. He didn’t encourage us to read any information on the documents we were signing, and I am sorry to say that it was quite late and my kids were getting ready for bed, so I didn’t insist on it. After he left, I re-​read the part about cancellation, and it seems that to cancel we need to either mail the cancellation form, or hand-​deliver it to their office, or send a telegram. This is not what I’ve been told, and it is not something I’m ready to do, even if I was convinced it will reach them on time.
We have an appointment scheduled for Thursday with the project manager (?), who is supposed to double-​check everything, measure, etc. before we’re supposed to be charged officially, and I am hopeful he will come up with more reasonable price for us, as we believe we’ve been overcharged by a lot even with the ‘discount’ the sales rep. gave us.

These people are horrible!!! Pushy sales people walking the field. A gentleman approached my family as we are obviously leaving our home. My father a disabled veteran told the man that he was not interested in anything at the moment. The man and his coworker then began to degrade our home? Aster reading other reviews it appears this is common for these people. I would warn anyone looking for a contractor to go elsewhere because if you tell these people no they will get very hostile. Shame on your company for hiring rude disrespectful people!

I guess we are one of the lucky ones dealing with this company. We had a new sliding glass door installed in our family room, to replace an older one. We had no trouble with the bid process, ordering and the delivery and installation. However, due to the number of negative reviews here I seriously doubt I will take another chance with them. For that reason I will delete them from my contact list.

Had someone stop by unannounced. They mentioned they did painting and we happen to be looking for someone to paint the outside of the house. They said someone was going to stop by on a Monday so I didn’t go into the office that day. No one showed up, no call, nothing. So not too happy with my first impression.

OK! Jeremy. Can you PLEASE do something about your call center. I have asked 6 times to put me on the do not call list. I’m starting to get pissed again.

My honest opinion– they have done a great job on the solar installation for my home, the installation was clean, the pipe lines were painted nicely in black so it doesn’t look awkward. The installer even helped me to clean my gutter a bit since he was on the roof. The customer service folks called me a few times to keep me updated with the installation schedule, license approval (need to get approved by PG&E after the installation). Great company and service. I will recommend this company to anyone that i know.

I strongly recommend passing on this firm. My experience was only with the first visit by the «sales rep.» who was asked to come provide us with an estimate for a full kitchen remodel.
We were approached by a representative the day prior at the Pleasanton, CA Home and Garden show. The representative asked if we would like a free estimate the next day. I explained we were available at 10:00 a.m., however, we had an appointment at noon so it would have to be on time. I was assured the representative would arrive no later than 10:00 a.m., and if not, they would call me to reschedule.
Well, the sales rep. arrived at 10:30 a.m. without calling to advise he would be late. When confronted, he stated it was due to traffic. (This was a Saturday…)
Unfortunately, I allowed the rep. in to give us an estimate. Not to bore you with all the details, I will get to the end of the conversation. After providing a price to us verbally, which sounded somewhat reasonable, I told the rep. to write it up. He then wrote a very vague contract, asked me to sign it, and asked for a $ 1000.00 deposit. I told the rep. I was not prepared to enter into a contract, I was expecting a bid only as we have other contractors scheduled to bid as well. This did not sit well with the rep. After attempting to sway me toward signing the contract some more, he finally wrote the date, the final bid amount, and «Maple Reface, Quartz Counters complete.»
This information, written on the back of his business card, is the «free estimate» we received from Quality First Home Improvement, Inc. Needless to say, I would stay as far away from this firm based upon all reviews here on Unilocal!!!

The sales people loudly approached and rang my doorbell wearing neon vests. I thought it was EBMUD. They offered an estimate. I told them I wasn’t interested. They told me I should be and proceeded to insult my home. I asked them to leave and get reading lessons while they were at it since they ignored the sign. I then called their office to complain.
The office representative was apologetic and assured me that they do not encourage their canvassers to behave this way. However, it’s very obvious that this is their standard practice based on the many other reviews similar to mine.
Any company that takes this rude and unprofessional sales approach would never see a penny from me. Shame, because we are in the process of completely renovating our home.

Where do I start? The sad thing is that I was connected with these losers via a table set up outside my local Orchard Supply Hardware. I did read some of the Unilocal reviews, but I was desperate to find a contractor to repour my driveway and decided to take a chance.
Sales guy was knowledgeable, sales manager dropped the price to what I needed after I balked at the first price. Yes, sales is a little pushy, but I was prepared for that. I’ve done sales and can handle it.
After I signed the contract and paid the deposit, NO communication or response to my calls for 2 weeks. When I wrote to the sales rep cancelling my contract and asking for a refund, the sales mgr immediately called me and said my job was scheduled for 3 days later. I decided to go ahead, but because I had no warning of the date, I was not there to supervise. Big mistake.
The framing and concrete pour appear to have been done OK, BUT: they changed the shape slightly without my approval, and didn’t follow my instructions for the placement of the joints to compensate (after promising they would). The surface of the aggregate needed more stone fill than they used, and they left 4 small gashes in the surface that should have been filled/​repaired before the concrete dried. They trampled and destroyed the surrounding bushes and I’m still finding concrete waste and trash hiding all over my yard, places where they thought they could dump concrete waste without my noticing. I“m still waiting to see how many of my other yard plants die.
With direct supervision this could have gone better. The guys were pleasant and seemed to know what they were doing. But I was constantly kept in the dark as to plans, option choices, issues, etc. My calls to the Project Manager were never returned. This was not a cheap job, and for the price that I paid, it was not the experience that I deserved.

Five months ago, I had Quality First Home Improvement Inc come out to my house and give an estimate on replacing our front door. Their sales representative was not very knowledgeable about their catalog or pricing. When he finally did work out a quote, it seemed a little high.
He asked if he could sign me up for an installation date. I said, «No, we are just getting quotes this week.» As soon as he realized he was not getting a sale that day, he packed up his display pamphlets and left, saying he’d call me next Tuesday.
He did not call next Tuesday, but did call next Thursday, asking when he could send someone out to do this work we discussed. I told him we decided to use a different contractor, but thanked him for his time.
Since then, I get calls from their call center in Sacramento every few weeks. It is always a 916 number. The first few times, I told them politely that we do not need any work, thank you. Then I told them to stop calling me, and take me off their list. They have promised to remove me from their call list the last 5 times, but I am still getting calls.
The last three times I have told them I would NEVER use their company, because they keep harassing me.
Today, I told them I would be writing a Unilocal review warning others to never use their services, and never, NEVER give them your phone number.
Quality First is Anything But…

I’ve told these people a number of times not to call or come to my door. They have pushy neighborhood canvassers that have no respect for other peoples property. They have walked through flower beds as well as come into my backyard. Luckily I have two large dogs that made them think about their actions.
In addition to that they have non-​stop Robo-​calls from a Fremont number (510−413−8459). I’ve stopped answering their number since all it seems to do is cause them to call more when you ask them to stop.
I’ve read the horror stories and I’ve seen the shoddy work first hand, do your homework and find a reputable contractor. These folks are what give other contractors a bad name.

Cold calls from a contractor?
I just hung up from an unsolicited phone call with a person from quality first (and his manager). They were pleasantly persistent, which is a solid sales tactic, but they took it just up the «obviously obnoxious» line. The initial lead in was a bit misleading as I could have sworn he said he was «with the department of energy» instead of «working with the department of energy». The second is still a bit of a stretch. They do some work that can get you a tax credit, sure, but that is not really working with the department of energy. I haven’t seen their work, but I’m not too impressed with their sales department.
As always, don’t buy something you don’t want or need.
