Psycho Donuts

Maybe I went too late in the day, but the donuts were kinda stale. I will admit the creativity of flavor combinations is top notch. I got the maple and bacon loaf along with a smores old fashioned. Both unfortunately were stale. And paying top dollar ($ 4 for the maple/​bacon and $ 2.60 for the Smores) for stale donuts just sucks. Willing to give it another chance next time I’m in the area — if they had sold them as day old, that’s fine but at those prices, they better be fresh!

Came here at 4pm and there was a sign saying that they were closed and sold out of donuts and would open tomorrow. Are you kidding me? After making the drive out here and you’re supposed to be open til 11pm you simply can’t make more donuts? You have a whole 7 hours til closing! That just shows your company is pathetic and lazy and you clearly don’t want people’s business so out to the «psychos» that own this place.

This place is just great!
The doughnuts tend to be a whole meal, rather than just an early morning snack. They are sweet, and loud and awesome! But my favorite is the banana one, simple and not covered with frosting and other things. But tastes like straight mashed up bananas!
The atmosphere is great too. Very eclectic, with this rockabilly voodoo theme. Zombies and nurses and everything coool in this world!

3 ½ stars. Love this place!
The real fun is in the fun donut themes and toppings. Their standards are ok. Honestly, I am usually a buttermilk bar and old fashioned kinda gal. Add a cruller and apple fritter to that, and I am a happy gal. Put some fun toppings on a kickass basic, and I am all over it!
Their buttermilk bars and old fashioned donuts are ok. I like the Mellow Submarine. The marshmallow frosting with puffed rice is really unique, but their old fashioned donut is just o-​o.
Love their Canadian Morning. But again, the basic buttermilk bar is just kinda meg. Big, but dry.
Their fritter is really nice, though!!! It is super crispy, but light.
Cruller is, again ok.
Donuts are good, tho pricey. I can see why a lot of people make this their standard donut shop.
But is you’re craving something done reeeeally well without all the frills for way cheaper, you can find it elsewhere.
If you want something that makes a great Insta photo, people will get a kick out of and enjoy, and you don’t mind spending $ 4 for a donut, stop here for sure!
We have found happiness in really well made basics elsewhere, but when we are in the neighborhood, we will stop by for some bacon topped, marshmallow frosted goodness!
Staff is friendly. Parking has been fine whenever we have gone. Though I can imagine at peak hours the smaller lot fills up fast.

Psycho… Donuts?.
I was fascinated on how good Psycho’s vegan doughnuts were, so I decided to take a trip here again. This time however, they ran out of their vegan selection. Not a problem. I decided to get their other crazy doughnuts. I got a Kooky Monster, Fung Shui, Marla, and a DOH! Nut. Total of four doughnuts came with a whopping price of ~$ 8.50.
Kooky Monster — A square shaped doughnut with vanilla icing and Oreo’s on top. This one is nothing special, the icing + Oreo combo was incredibly sweet! You couldn’t even taste the doughnut lol. Oreo’s were stale.
Fung Shui — A green tea icing with chocolate chip pieces on top of a doughnut bar. Once again lol, it was supremely sweet, I got a hint of the green tea but the chocolate pieces masked the hell out it. I thought I was eating a chocolate bar doughnut. Too much chocolate.
Marla — Maple icing with peanut butter and Butterfinger pieces on top. This one was the best out of the four I got. It was sweet and salty. Not to sweet and tasty. I would order this one again.
DOH! Nut — Vanilla icing with sprinkles. Just a decent doughnut, not overly sweet. To be honest, I got this one because of the price lol
Oh and I forgot to mention that ALL these doughnuts were DRY! They look fresh from the outside but as soon as you take a bite, the dough is stale. I think they were out for a few days… Disappointed by the fact that I payed $$$ for these, I expected top quality. If you decide to come here, I suggest asking the nurse on which ones are the freshest. I made the mistake of not doing that and payed the price.
At the end of the day, Psycho Donuts is truly Psycho. Their prices of their decent doughnuts are through the roof! I believe you also pay for the experience and the cool decoration. (Not sure, but It can be understandable) Don’t get me wrong, this place is great. I love the theme aspect to it, but ultimately, the doughnut quality leaves a lot to be desired.

Recently visiting Portland and eating the original Voodoo donuts, I was excited to see a similar store near home, Coming later in the day, the donuts weren’t the freshest and I could see them trying to emulate Voodoo with the wacky names and donut shapes/​designs. I will say they did have vegan options, which is a plus since I am lactose intolerant. I ended up ordering a raspberry one and a greenish one I can’t remember. They were okay, no wow factor of that sort, but I was content since it was dairy free.
Maybe would go once in a while if I am in the area or craving donuts.

Today I met the donut of my dreams — the Marla!
Maple bar with cracked butterfinger pieces and peanut butter.
And of course, chased it with milk!
I wish I had saved half to eat later as I don’t live anywhere near this place!
A girl can dream, right?

The first time I had Psycho Donuts, I thought I was going to die from the tooth and stomach ache the sugar gave me. I’m glad I gave this place a second chance. I wanted to take my sister to a creepy cute place to bond over sweets, and I remembered that this was in the area!
If you’re sensitive to sweets, you better get that coffee and take it black with no cream or sugar. The donut will take care of that for you.
I personally like their vegan donuts (so dense and moist!).
Staff makes sure that you are well taken care of :)

Reading past reviews for this location and the downtown location cracks me up. Especially the ones that harp on «how sweet» these donuts are. DUH! You are visiting a donut shop known for their crazy donuts high jacked ON sugar.
I do prefer this location over the downtown for a few reasons. The first, its the original. Second, parking is not a hassle. Its a small lot but there are spaces behind the shop too. I’ve never had to park there or had to power struggle for a spot. Lastly, they always have Spare Tires after 1pm and as Spare Tires are my favorite flavor, Campbell has a special place in my heart. In addition to having these two, they also roll out a bunch of other flavors I have a hard time finding at Downtown too.
Spare Tires are chocolate raised donuts with chocolate glaze. Read that slowly, chooocoolatte raised! Like a plain glazed but chocolate! The shock factor of that alone made this my first choice on my first visit and is my go too. It is just as awesome as it sounds! If you are the kind of donut «enthusiast» that dislikes «sweet» donuts, this would be a good choice for you. Another good choice in this category is the Dirty Turtle!
The Dirty Turtle is a cake donut with caramel and cheesecake icing dusted in oreo crumbs. Now, this was not a donut I chose. It was my partners because I do not like cake donuts. But I will eat this one! Unlike other cake donuts I have had, this one was super moist and actually tasted like cake! I feel like cake donuts are normally dry and crumble and are just not pleasant or resemble a cake at all.
I don’t normally venture past these two as a donut alone is enough sweets for me, however, I have tried the Smores. It’s a plain raised donut with chocolate glaze, melted marshmallows, and graham crackers. Smores on top of a plain raised donut! It was good but the marhmallow cream or whatever it was can get stuck on the roof of your mouth. I also tried the Marla which is a maple bar with crushed butterfinger and peanut butter glaze. I had to wipe the PB glaze off. I never got it again lol

I wish I could eat here everyday. Hands down thee best donut shop in the Bay Area. It’s too hard to pick a favorite. I recommend trying everything at least once. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I love psycho donuts

I’m sure donuts here can be good but my Feng Shui (green tea) donut lacked any flavor of green tea. I could only taste the chocolate from the excessive amount of chocolate chips on top of the donut.
Not even a hint of green tea in a supposedly green tea flavored donut makes a sad donut eating experience. Next time I’ll be sure to get something else.

I reallllllly don’t like this place for a couple reasons…
First off, they get WAY too complicated with their donuts and I think the combinations are nasty.
Second, they tried to hire me a while back as a donut decorator but the pay was less than the «nurses» whom by my brother’s definition «stand there and put your donut in a box». AND the «nurses» get tips while the people doing the actual work don’t. I don’t respect businesses that don’t treat workers fairly.
Overall, this place is soooooooo overrated and very pricey ($ 2+/donut). Go to your normal mom & pop shop to get real donuts with excellent service! Not to mention, the mom & pop places are usually privately owned and love to give out free goodies :) I honestly think people come here just to be trendy sometimes.

Great donuts and cool selection. I had been anticipation coming here for many years now and when I came in the place was empty and I let the girl who was working there know hey it’s my first time. She just gave me a dead stare and didn’t say anything as she impatiently waited for me to make my choices. It was overall very awkward lol. Not once did she say welcome or let me know about ANYTHING lol just dead stare. Hopefully it’s a better experience next time :)

Donuts are like diabetes about to happen. I like the names and how creative they are with the donuts but these are WAY too sweet for my taste buds. it was worth a try.

Ew!!! They don’t taste fresh at all. Even the cereal on the ‘cereal killer donut’ was stale. But why the two stars? Cause you gotta go. Most of all take the kiddos. My daughter loved the place. Thought it was super fun.

I loved my donuts from Psycho Donuts! I came here late at night with a girl friend and she had warned me that the donuts were just okay — a bit dry, but we didn’t find that to be the case at all. Even though it was the end of the day, the ones we got tasted fresh and not at all dried out. I got two donuts: Smores and Strawberry. My friend got Drunken Pumpkin. She could not stop talking about how good hers was. My favorite was the strawberry. I wish I’d bought more of them. I wish I had one right here in front of me so I could eat it. It even had bits of dried strawberries on it! I can’t wait to go back and may have to make this a permanent stop on my way two and fro the bay area.

There are many well-​known donut places around the country. Portland has Voodoo Donuts, LA has Randy’s, New York has Doughnut Plant, Seattle has Top Pot, and SF has Dynamo. Even Hawaii has their own famous «donut» shop in Leonards. For the Silicon Valley clientele, we have Psycho Donuts.
Perhaps you’re wondering where the «Psycho» part comes in. Well, let’s take a brief look at the menu:
BOSTON SCREAM PIE — Skull-​adorned, chocolate-​frosted yeast donut with custard filling.
HEADBANGER — Donut that has a face of a rocker that knocked his head so many times that blood (raspberry jelly) is coming out.
CEREAL KILLER — Berry Cereal-​topped donut.
MELLO SUBMARINE — Can’t get enough cereal on donuts? This one has rice crispy treats.
GLAZED AND CONFUSED — Hey look! An almost normal glazed donut!
I have to say, most of the names and decorations of the donuts are quite hilarious! Unfortunately, not to everyone. Apparently, there was this big uproar about how insensitive the theme is at this donut shop. And to that, I say, «…» Actually, I don’t have much to say. It’s just donuts, people. Come on. I mean, how can you not have a little chuckle when you have a chocolate cake donut covered in powdered sugar and call it the Michael Jackson! This Filipino would be honored if someone took a fat, brown donut, stuffed it with Ube/​Taro filling, glazed it, and put a face with a big nose on it, then called it the Jamie J!

Crazy selection of unique «donuts». The choices are numerous and it took me some time to read all the descriptions.
Recommendations: Dead Elvis, S’mores, and the Taco.

Seriously, this is a place that would only be cool if opened one day a year: Halloween.
I got an oreo ‘kookie’ donut. Oreo crumbs kind of stale, frosting wasn’t fresh, but the donut itself was alright.
This place is great if you are feeling very bold and adventurous and want sweet exotic bold flavors for breakfast. Not for me.
Also, they charge $ 26 delivery fee for within Campbell. Why? My colleague wanted to order some and have it delivered our department down here at the company building, which is only 5 minutes away. Really. $ 26​.to drive 5 minutes. okay.

I’ve passed this place a million times and have read the reviews and even got involved when the community knocked them for having a padded room (some folks are WAY to sensitive) but I’d never stopped in to taste what everyone raves about. Well I started a new job and a week into it I decided to do a little sucking up and bring doughnuts for a meeting that morning so into the parking lot I pulled!
Right off the bat I was greeted with a friendly «good morning» that followed with the sent of doughy, sugary goodness. Wow! Everything looked so fun that I couldn’t decide so I asked the nice nurse to just pick a variety of 12. She really took her time in choosing a great variety for me. I was surprised though that a dozen of these tasty treats needed two huge boxes. Hmmm should have considered that since I was taking the lightrail into the office. Ha!
Once the picking and choosing was done she rang up my order. Ouch! $ 50 for 12 doughnuts? I guess impressing you new co-​workers is priceless. So I paid up and headed to the train.
SCORE! My treats were a huge hit and I made the good impression I was hoping for. I’m not a big fan of doughnuts so I honestly couldn’t find one that I absolutely loved, however the rest if the team devoured them. Yay me!
