Nelly’s Childcare and Pre-School

I first heard about Nelly’s from my mother’s group, where there were glowing reviews about both the Sunnyvale and Campbell locations. I contacted the Campbell location and took a tour as soon as I found out my daughter’s teachers at her previous daycare were moving on. The waiting list didn’t deter me, as this was a sign that Nelly’s must be fantastic if everyone wants to send their child there. It wasn’t long before a space opened up and my husband and I transitioned our daughter over.
We eased her in with guidance from Mai and her new teachers in the infant center. It was hard at first as she was 18 months old at the time and only used to two other teachers since we have had her in daycare. But everyone was so nice and took the time to spend one on one time with her and make her feel welcomed and at home. One week later she walked in to the room and took her seat at the table and waited for her home cooked breakfast. She loves the place!
I am very happy with the choice my husband and I made to move our daughter over to Nelly’s. Not only is she learning Spanish, she is in a loving and caring environment with delicious home cook meals.

I would like to update my review as a someone did email me in regards to the situiation that occured and apologized for the mishap. As we can all appreciate mistakes do happen and so any acknowlegement is an appreciation.

I can’t recommend Nelly’s Childcare and Pre-​School enough; my husband and I are literally in LOVE with it.
We met the staff at a Las Madres event. It’s a Spanish Immersion daycare; and our daughter yells «Hola!» each morning when we pull up.
We feel as if we have a second family at Nelly’s. The staff is amazing and the other parents are really nice. We’ve had our daughter in the infant room and now the 2 year old room and I can tell you they treat the infants GREAT with a lot of attention and caring.
We feel that our daughter learned many skills and has blossomed under the staff at Nelly’s. They really care about EACH child as an individual. I have stopped in my daughter’s room (s) at odd hours many times and found everything going great each time.
They have brought in a petting zoo in September at no extra cost to the parents, and just threw a huge Halloween party, with a DJ, music, potluck food, games, prizes and decoration. It was a blast! We went to the San Francisco Zoo earlier this year with everyone too.
Though we speak no Spanish, our daughter is learning Spanish and bringing it home. We frequently hear her pepper her burgeoning language skills with Spanish.
As a picky parent, I can’t say enough wonderful things about Nelly’s. Having a child there is like having a trusted relative care for my daughter each day. She has made friends, learned new skills and is a happy little girl each day when we pick her up.

Both our daughter (3 years old) and son (9 months) are at Nelly’s in Campbell and we couldn’t be happier. We love the family approach combine with an excellent academic program. All the teachers are fantastic and our kids love it. Sometime when I pick up my daughter she says that she wants to stay a little longer! The Spanish program is great and after a few months our daughter picked up the language. The home made food is also a big bonus for us. We love Nelly’s!

Our daughter has been at Nelly’s in Sunnyvale since she was 1 year old (January 2011-​present). It was recommended to us by friends who had their son there from birth-​5 years.
Pros:
* Outstanding infant teacher who treats the kids as her own. She’s totally on top of what they are all doing, and they become comfortable with her immediately.
* Socialization — the older kids learn how to help and play with the younger children, which is beneficial from all sides. Our daughter has really bonded with some of the older children as well as with the teachers.
* Homey feel — it’s hard to explain, but Nelly’s really feels like family. Our daughter adjusted very quickly, and really enjoys going to ‘school’ every morning.
* Personalization — if you have special requests, for example allergies so the child can’t eat certain foods, they are very respectful and careful to follow your instructions. You don’t have to worry.
* Lots of outdoor playground time, which the kids love.
Cons:
* The house next door has like 10 cats, so beware if you’re really allergic. Nellys does the best they can to keep the cats off of their property, but there’s only so much they can do.
* The infant/​toddler teacher speaks great English, but the other teachers speak broken English. You have to have a bit of patience and ask them to repeat, but if you do, you can eventually understand what they are saying (or ask the infant teacher to translate).

My daughter was at Nelly’s Childcare and Preschool in the Sunnyvale location from 6months — 4 years. She had remarkably care, wonderful home-​cooked meals and snacks, learned Spanish, and most of all — felt it was her home away from home.
They had just finished their Campbell location when we were leaving. We’ve continued to stay in touch and we’ve been invited to some events (Halloween Party, Christmas) at the Campbell location. It is a wonderful place and the outside area is very large with plenty of little crazy coupes, sand area/​etc. for the kids to be entertained. I so wish it was closer to where we live! Boo hoo!
I’m not even mentioning the great art activities, or family feel when picking up the kids and chatting for a bit. Nelly was the best and my daughter still likes to stop by and say hello!
