History

Established in 2007.

— 2007 – 2009: Modlin Legal is a freelance law practice, as Ms. Modlin prepares to launch a Wills and Trusts firm.

— ¹⁄₂₀₁₀: Modlin Legal becomes a wills and trusts firm in Campbell, CA.

— 2011: Ms. Modlin publishes her first book, The Independence Track, How to Succeed as a Freelance Attorney, and begins regularly lecturing on the topic of Freelance lawyering. She has been hosted by most of Bay Areas law schools and bar associations.

— 2012: Modlin Legal celebrates 100 clients. Having outgrown our first office, we move into our own 1,000 sq. foot suite across the street from the old offices, keeping our super convenient, easily accessible location.

— 2013 — present: We continue growing and making estate planning more affordable, accessible, and less intimidating than ever before!

— 2016 — «Wills & Trusts For the Rest of Us: Estate Planning for CA Residents with Net Worth Up to Ten Million Dollars» is published, and is available on Amazon.

Meet the Business Owner

Marina M.

Business Owner

Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, I emigrated to the South Bay when I was 12. My BA is from UC Davis, and my JD is from USF Law.

I always knew I wanted my own practice, and right after law school I freelanced, learning about ways to run businesses and practice various types of law. After 2 years I started doing wills and trusts, mindful that I want my business to treat others the way I’d like to be treated: both clients and people that help me run the practice.

I love what I do and believe in it. My clients tell me that I make the process easy and smooth, and am smart and neurotic enough about details to make them feel safe. They also like it that I’m a «lawyer with personality» — we laugh a lot as we work together, and usually part as friends.

I lead a balanced life and find the time to do things I love: rock climbing, trail running, backpacking. I am periodically enrolled in acting and/​or guitar classes. I’m a Big with the Big Brothers Big Sisters.
