Good burgers. I thought Frank was the owner because he’s at the register all the time, but he’s not the owner. However he always remembers my kid and is nice to him. So I like eating here.

Excellent hamburger. Will go back again and again! Unfortunately given the wrong order burnt was too hungry to wait. I’ll just be sure to remind them next time.

Ummmm yeah, it’s called Kirk’s Steakburgers but not all Kirk’s are created equally. Incredibly disappointed and feel like I wasted my money here. We recently tried Kirk’s in Palo Alto while out Christmas shopping at the Town and Village Shopping Center and had an amazing mouth watering experience. The Palo Alto location is the true Kirk’s experience! They pride themselves on chargrilled cooking and the fact that they use ground sirloin. It’s what sets them apart from your average burger joints.
The San Jose location is friendly where they come out and talk to you; ask how your food is & make small talk. The speed of our meal was fine but… Our burgers were so greasy they soaked through the buns. I highly doubt the burger meat is actual ground sirloin at the San Jose location. It was just too greasy to be sirloin! The burger patties were not formed properly and they resembled mush. Plus, there was no chargrilled taste! That’s the whole reason you would want to eat a burger here!
I had ordered the bacon, avocado with cherry pepper relish. At the Palo Alto place the relish was the best part but this place skimps and adds a bit of the relish to a mayo sauce having it slightly resemble thousand island dressing. So not the same stuff!
The steak fries were hot and crispy as well as their beer battered onion rings! Sadly out of our meal the sides were the highlight. We were in San Jose for the evening and thought we would try out this location and contemplated driving over to Palo Alto but thought…“it’s right here, let’s give it a whirl!” Paid a lot for sub-​par food. In short — Kirk’s Steakburgers in Palo Alto is the best of the 2 by far.
Okay – so today I was contacted by the owner and they apologized for our dining experience and refunded us our meal. Just for that they will earn future business from us.

We love Kirks Steakburgers. We have eaten there before and today I just wanted to give them a shout out. Their burgers are excellent and what makes this place different from other burger joints is that in addition to selling soft drinks they also serve beer. I believe they have about a half dozen beers on draft including my favorite Gordon Biersch Marzen. Other burger places like Juicy Burger and Burger Pit don’t serve alcohol. Not knocking those places because their burgers are good too but it’s nice just to go to a burger place and enjoy a beer sometimes.
It’s one of our favorite burger joints but the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because yesterday we had to wait about 18 minutes for our order to get done. The place wasn’t even busy so I don’t know why that happened. That’s not usually the case there but other than that we will continue to keep going there.

Big kirk with cheese, fries and the occasional shake. I try to come once a week. Yes, go here you won’t regret it!

I went to this location for the very first time and it will also be my last!
On Monday, December 4^th around 1PM, My husband and I thought we would stop off at this place being that we were in the mood for a hamburger.
We ordered 2 hamburgers and a chili cheese fry, the order itself took a really long time to a point where I could have traveled 20 minutes away to my house, made myself something. watched a movie and then come back. It was upsetting!– When We got our order and began to eat, my husband discovered that there was a piece of hair in his hamburger, literally COOKED into the patty. I saw it and told him that he should notify the man that rang us up which was FRANK. My husband came back out to the patio to let me know that Frank, did NOT even bother to look at the Hamburger and seemed VERY agitated and even raised his voice at him while he was trying to be discreet and not say it very loud to avoid embarrassment to his business. He told the cook to make him a new one and seemed unhappy about my husband getting a new hamburger and that itself took so long that I was done with my food by time he came back to the table.
As I was eating, my chili cheese fries, I felt something stringy in my mouth and pulled out ANOTHER piece of black hair out of our order. I spit up my food and thew it away, I was nearly livid that this happened not just once but TWICE! Very unsanitary and disgusting serving people of the public food that is coming from someone Else’s body. I went in to discreetly tell Frank that his cook should be wearing a net around her hair because I also found a hair in my fries and Frank began to raise his voice with me, have an attitude and also even insulted me a customer. I got shaken, and also too raised my voice to make my point after he had told me that his cook is wearing a baseball cap and that should be good enough, I told him that apparently it was NOT good enough if it was still getting into our food, not once but TWICE. I have very light hair now, and do not have black hair and it was cooked into our food and my hair is very short not long. He said that I should have saved the food to show him when the first time my husband had went in he did not even bother to look at it, and just threw it away. Frank had also claimed that he was going to dig into the trash to look at the hamburger to see if my husband and I were lying, and I asked him if it mattered that much that he sees it for himself how come he did not look at the hamburger the first time my husband originally came in. I notified Frank that I work for the City of San Jose, and little does he know that I am related to someone on the City Counsel that also has friends within the Health Department and I can make a complaint and have the, shut down if I wanted to especially after seeing a damn dead water bug in their restroom.
and Dear Frank and Business owner of the Kirks Burger Restaurant, I just had a Kidney Transplant less than 1 month ago, it is insulting to me as a person with Kidney Disease that you do not care about the safety and sanitation of your restaurant and the public, you could have easily made me sick as someone who takes anti-​suppressant pils to stay off dialysis. You could have risked my new kidney and got me sick. I am really upset that Kirks would have anyone as horrible as this man to work with hospitality and the public because this grouchy old man has ZERO customer service skills or communication skills.
I am definitely going to take this business up with the BBB, also notify my sister who sits on the city counsel and will be in touch with the Health Department for this, this is totally wrong for anyone to be treated as such, and I definitely do NOT recommend this place at ALL! Save your money people.

I highly recommend the flat iron steak sandwich and the onion strings. The steak was so tender and the onion strings was a perfect match.

This restaurant is like the nerdy kid that got hot over summer and is now a thing. I’m fairly sure kirks got a makeover in the last year. Regardless, I am whole heatedly impressed with their décor, food quality, beer selection, specials menu, and condiment bar.
You order from the counter, where the staff is more than happy to help out with questions and decisions. Then find a place to sit (unless you’re doing take out of course). Make sure to peruse the condiment bar and grab anything you desire. The sauces are also plentiful. If you need a quick and easy meal, this is a great place of the beaten path of downtown Campbell.

I have been coming to kirk’s for over 20 years and the quality of the steak burgers has always been fantastic. The owner has changed twice, but each time they have improved the restaurant, new booths, new lights, indoor bathrooms :)
I always order the big kirk, medium rare with cheddar cheese. The fries are great, especially the garlic fries when you order them crispy!
Highly recommend and even though the prices seem higher than other places, the bill tends to be the same as when I go to other burger joints.

Kirk’s has changed quite a bit over the years. The most notable change is the inside décor. It used to be a bit of a ragged dive, but who cares when the food is good?
Over the past few years it seems new management has invested in new paint and «real» chairs and almost fancy wooden tables. It’s much cleaner and inviting inside and no longer feels like a secret hole in the wall. I miss that a bit.
The food? It’s still very much a famous Kirk’s burger. Just a bit more expensive and perhaps slightly smaller.
If you’ve never been, try it. If you were turned off by the dive-​like atmosphere from 5 years ago, try it again. You’ll be surprised.

Frank is a super friendly man, he has great customer service skills. Turkey burger for me and Kirk burger for my hubby. 1^st time there and won’t be our last!

It’s always good to come to a place that remembers you. The burgers are juicy and you can dress them up just how you like them. I love that they have horseradish available as a topping! Thank you Frank!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile now but every time I drive by, it was closed. Had the craving 30 minutes before closing so we were able to place our order. We were cheerfully greeted by Frank, who is obviously serious about friendly customer service. He talked a lot of game about the burgers and they did not disappoint.
Burger showed up on a roll rather than your traditional bun. With the fear produce bar you’re able to top it anyway you want it. Plenty of different sauces as well.
Probably one of the best burger experiences I’ve had in awhile. Thanks Frank!

I was super impressed by this place. The staff here are outstanding and the hamburger they make are mouth watering delicious!!! Walking up to the place the smoked filled air gets your belly rumbling for a juicy burger. Walking in the it’s very clean, even the bathrooms. And I think that tells a lot about a place. You order your food and take a seat. Then you get to put all your fixings on it yourself. Which I love that cause isn’t that what you usually complain about. too much this… not enough that. And if any of you who may really hate lets just say mustard like my hubby does then you have no worries. So come with the kids it’s a very family friendly place. They had cold beers in a freezer right in front of the cashier. You’ll be pleased!!!

Upgrade, the steak burger was meaty, juicy and yummy. Comes with a plain bun. $ 6.95, you get your condiments at a large island. Fresh lettuce, red/​white onions, horseradish, mustard, mayo, ketchup and pepperoncini.
Also, I ordered a small order of the Sweet Potato fries; a generouse amount and they were yummy. $ 3.95 and worth every penny.
And a small soft drink; they have a variety of drinks including a vitamin water deal, and it’s good. Free refills.
Décor: clean and several large screen TV’s to watch.
Customer service: fine.
Parking: fine.

I went here with my co-​worker and got the ½ lb burger with no buns and a combo fries and onion rings…
I was very disappointed… my lunch came out to friggin’ $ 18. If the patties were properly grilled, I wouldn’t have mind paying that much but it didn’t have that charred grilled meat taste nor were the patties even that big… ugh…yuk!
Never again! Not worth it!

Yum! I have driven by this place but never stopped in. I am glad I did yesterday! I ordered a small chili cheese fries and just a regular burger. It took a long time to get the order but boy was it worth the wait! The was pretty big and it was so gooey with cheese. The chili was good but I wish it had meat in it. The fries was crispy and flavorful.
The burger was cooked to perfection! I love the condiments bar. It had just about everything!
It’s not cheap fast food but if I am craving a nice yummy burger this is where I would go!

I do enjoy come on here and updating some of my review from time to time, general I update these review because something has changed.
I showed up here the other night and found that some new remodeling has happen, the wall were extra clean this evening, looks like they just painted not too long ago. The floors and table looked like they received some extra special attention too, meaning they either refinished or new.
What looks like it has not changed, the service. The service was very good the staff was friendly, helpful and fast. They made sure everything we wanted was done to our liking. The food quality was very good if not better from last time I was here. The menu looks like about the same. This is a place I would recommend to anybody looking for a great burger, milk shakes, patty melts, fries and onion rings.
