I want to Thank Kalani for the greatest job!!! She styled my hair and made my makeup for my wedding. On my wedding day she was right on time, and I was treated like A+ celebrity. She did absolutely stunning hair and makeup for me. It all turned out much better than I could have imagined, and I got so many compliments. The hair and makeup lasted the entire day and looked amazing in pictures. I loved my look and was very happy with her service!

Kalani came out to Maui last November to style mine and my bridesmaids hair for my wedding. Her friend, Camille, came out to do the make up. Both Kalani and Camille were super friendly, professional, prompt and organized. They set up everything and were flexible when we had people running late on time. My make up (airbrushed) was light and stayed perfect the entire night… same with my hair.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kalani and her team for any event. Thank you, Kalani!

I absolutely loved working with Kalani. A family friend referred Kalani to me, and boy, did I get lucky. She was so flexible with my crazy work schedule and she was so easy to work with. I sent her just one photo each of my desired makeup style and hair style, and she pretty much nailed both looks during the trial and during the wedding. My mother absolutely loved it too! But of course, what makes her stand out is her desire to want to improve between the trial and the real day. She was attentive to details. For example, during the trial, because my hair clip was already heavy, there was a lot of pressure on my scalp from the clip and all the pins. On the real day, she was able to make it feel lightweight without affecting the look. She also did my bridesmaids’ hair. Having 10 bridesmaids, there were a lot of different looks/​styles that she had to do, and she nailed of those too! She is a professional and talented stylist.
Other pros: she came on time (even 5 minutes earlier than her schedule time of arrival); she’s efficient (she finished ~30 minutes ahead of schedule); extremely reasonably priced
Cons: none!

Kalani is so amazing! Right when I sat down, we got to talk about the process of my hair transformatiom, my hair was naturally dark black and I haven’t had anything done with it for several years and I was going straight into an ombré. I loved how careful she was with my hair and how it turned out ! I can’t wait for my next appointment !!

I’m so glad Kalani did my makeup and hair for my wedding! She was such a sweet person and was just generally fun to have around the morning of the wedding! When I went in for my trial, I showed her a couple pictures of updos that I liked and she was able to combine both of them for a lovely hairstyle. I was scared my thin hair wouldn’t hold but somehow she worked her magic and it lasted the whole night! My bridesmaids and mom were also very pleased with their hair. My makeup ended up looking great as well, natural just like I asked for. Her prices are reasonable compared to some of the outrageous prices out there for bridal hair and makeup, and I highly recommend her to any brides who want to look beautiful on their special day! (In other words, all brides)

Kalani and her team recently did both hair and make-​up for my entire wedding party. She took the time to talk with each girl and make sure she understood what they were looking for. Her prices are fair and her work is gorgeous. I won’t hesitate to continue to come back for regular cuts and highlighting!

I guess my review is superfluous. When I tried writing a review last year, I couldn’t find Kalani, but I’m glad to have found her Unilocal page and to see she’s flooded with raves, which she completely deserves.
I met with Kalani last year before my July wedding, and she was wonderful! Everything about my hair, from the trial to the wee hours of the morning after the wedding, when everything was still intact, was a testament of her talent.
Not only were Kalani and her assistant completely professional and dependable (surprises are unwelcome for most wedding planning brides), but they were the nicest, most patient people. One of my bridesmaids decided to get her hair done after all the morning of the wedding, and I felt so bad because, had she known, Kalani would have brought a third person with her! But she managed to squeeze everyone in – and if she was at all flustered, I couldn’t tell at all! — and she got us ready in time.
Four hours into the reception, everyone looked beautiful, and my hair felt great for weeks, thanks to the free extra conditioning from the day before the wedding. Kalani, thank you, thank you! You really are the best!

Kalani is wonderful. I am very particular when it comes to makeup, since I do not use it but in very special occasions. She listened and understood to my wishes and needs, and met them all quickly and perfectly. I recommend her wholeheartedly!

Kalani is my hero! I found her on Unilocal for my wedding a few weeks ago, and thank you to all previous posters for giving me the confidence to book her, since she and her team were AMAZING.
Kalani and her team did my hair and make-​up, as well as hair and make-​up for my 6 bridesmaids and make-​up for my mother as well, and everyone looked gorgeous. I had gone through a trial run but the morning of the wedding was the first and only time for everyone else, and I just cannot sing enough praises for these artists. They made all of us look FLAWLESS (and ladies, I am serious here — like your face was airbrushed in a photo, but on your actual face… seriously) and they were able to work with 7 completely different hair types and styles and gave us all 7 completely different, perfect, and long lasting hair-do’s! (I was not going for a unified look, so everyone had something of their own.)
Furthermore, before the wedding, I had asked Kalani to keep this on the down-​low, since the hair and make-​up was a special surprise for the other girls. I sent her pictures and basic descriptions of each girls’ hair and face, but she went the extra mile and actually sent BACK a variety of celeb hair styles hand-​picked by her for EACH girl, as well as a few make-​up looks to choose from. I was not expecting that, and it was a very pleasant surprise as it helped me be able to better explain and clarify what I wanted, and it made the day-​of go much smoother since each of the girls could look at the celeb photos and make little changes to suit their desires!
Also, Kalani was VERY patient with me while I was working out the timeline. I think I didn’t explain things clearly, but she changed what I asked to be changed, helped me know what to expect, and then on the day of the wedding she and her team showed up on time ready to go!
On the day of the wedding, her team was punctual, friendly, personable, and very professional. They were genuinely happy for me, they were easy to get along with, they joked and chatted along with us, they tolerated 7 different girls asking for 7 different things, they listened to what we wanted and helped make it into something that could actually be done, and they gave us GORGEOUS hair and make-​up that lasted all night long and, for a few brave souls, all the way through the plane ride home the next day (true story).
IN SUMMARY, I looked gorgeous, all the bridesmaids looked gorgeous, and we had a great, stress-​free time getting ready, all thanks to Kalani and her team!!!

Let me make this crystal clear –My hair DOES NOT CURL. Period. I told this to Kalani before my friends wedding last month so she would know that no matter how much work she did it would fall before the evening was done. She laughed at me and told me not to worry and that I would look beautiful!
Of course, she was right and I cannot be more happy to be wrong! My hair was flawless in a loose, curled, up-​do. It took around 50 bobby pins to keep it in place and about a half can of hairspray but Kalani and her assistant Shar got it up and looking amazing. It withstood me running around, strong winds, and children touching it all night. Plus, did I mention that she got my hair done in less than half an hour? Yes, she’s that good! I did ask for a touch up before she left (just a couple extra bobby pins and a second coat of hairspray) but she got that done in a few minutes.
I wish I had known about her when I got married because I would have hired her without a second thought! Whenever I have a big event I’m giving Kalani and her team a call because I know they will get my hair whipped into perfect condition in a hurry. Thank you ladies!

I desperately was looking for a make up/​hair stylist for an upcoming wedding I was attending. It was a pretty important event and I wanted to look my best, which meant, not looking like what I look like every other day. I searched Unilocal and found a few places that were unavailable due to weddings or bridal trials. Sad to say, it is extremely difficult to find a stylist who is not already booked for a wedding. I emailed Kalani and received a prompt response and to my surprise, she had a stylist available. Now that is what I call a business. If you are in the business of make up/​hair styling, it is a smart move to hire more than one stylist. That way when people inquire about your services, you have more stylists who can easily accommodate. I was in between San Jose and San Francisco and worked it out with my stylist so that she would travel to SF. How great is that? $ 15 travel and $ 100 for make up and hair. You’d pay just $ 100 for hair alone in the city. My stylist was Stephanie and she deserves 10 stars. She is bubbly, fun and awesome to chat with. She perfected my look and I was blown away by the results. Even my date complimented me a few times during the night at how great I looked (thanks Stephanie!). Hair/​make up for dine within the 2 hour time frame. She did such a fantastic job, I tipped her nicely and threw in some cupcakes to top it off!
I highly suggested using Kalani Styles for your make up and hair needs. These girls are fantastic and they will work to accommodate you. That is what I look for in a business. 10 stars!

I booked Kalani and her team for my July wedding.
Prior to the wedding, I was indecisive and didn’t really know what I wanted. I don’t think I look good all made up, strange I know. Each time I showed Kalani a picture, she was able to do it perfectly. When I left her salon (I had 2 separate hair trials), I changed my mind and didn’t like it anymore. See, I’m indecisive. When it came to the day of my wedding, I still didn’t know what I wanted and was a little worried actually really worried. I wasn’t worried that Kalani couldn’t do her job, I was worried that I didn’t even know what I wanted!
Fast forward to the wedding day, her team (her + 2 assistants) arrived on time and ready to work. When it was finally my turn, she showed me a couple pictures and with the aid of one of my BM who made decisions for me, she was able to transform me into a beautiful bride. I was so impressed and happy with her and her team. All she heard from me was I don’t like this, that, this, that and she didn’t get annoyed at all. In fact, she was able to complete my whole look in less than an hour and a half. On top of that, my bridesmaids looked so gorgeous!
It took them about 4 hrs to do 4 BMs and 1 bride and another 3 hours to do 2 mothers, grandma, flowergirl, 1 aunt and one friend. There were a couple last minute additions and she was able to do it without making a fuss about it, sorry Kalani, i didn’t know!
During this time, we were taking bridal party photos at another location, the wind blew so hard that a couple of pins fell off (i asked her to put the pins loosely) in the back. My BM contacted her to see if she could fix it. Her and her team left and were already on the freeway, but they came back, tools in hand to fix it this time not loosely.
Thank you Kalani for doing such an awesome job, guests were telling me that I was beautiful the whole entire evening and my makeup stayed on for 10 hours even in the sweltering San Ramon heat.
btw, she’s very reasonably priced and will work with you. She even includes a free blowout the day before your event. It helped my hair a lot the day of.

i love Kalani and her assistant! literally, love them!
she squeezed me in on a saturday in june with less than 24hrs notice. when i walked into the salon she greeted with her huge, beautiful smile. i asked her to style my hair in a curly updo that she said, «puts Jessica Alba to shame.» and truly it was lovely! received compliments on it all night. the two of them tag teamed and it only took about 30minutes to get the job done… and it lasted all night! wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

KG has worked with my hair several times. My hair is not easy to work with cause I have A LOT of hair that’s full with thick strands, although it does hold well. KG did my hair for a wedding and the bride wasn’t too particular with her bridesmaid’s hairdos. So, me loving funky and non-​traditional styles all I asked and told her was that I wanted something fun, funky, creative and sexy. I let her go to work and the finished up-​do was amazing!!! By far one of my favorite up-​dos ever!!! She nailed what I wanted to the tee!!! My hair held up so well that night I wore the hairdo to work the next day!!! If you need someone who has style and professionalism she is your go-​to stylist!!! Check out the photo!!!

Kalani did a great job for my friend’s wedding. I was a bridesmaid and she and her associate came to the house super early in the morning to prep us for the big day! She did my hair up beautifully and it held up all day without a problem. She was a delight to work with!

Kalani did my hair and makeup for my wedding. I know I was asking for something a bit more complicated with the hair (I wanted 20’s style fingerwaves with a slightly more modern take). She did an excellent job on the big day and the makeup stayed on flawlessly throughout the long day. Other than the fact that she is talented, Kalani is also very sweet, patient and always professional (she’s dependable and reliable). I was lucky to have Kalani as my hair & make-​up artist for me, my mom, and my bridesmaids a few weeks ago. She did such an amazing job on all of us. The airbrush make-​up is very light and looks flawless. I didn’t touch up ONCE throughout the day and night, other than lip gloss from kissing the new hubby! KG does my hair, does she do yours? She should! Kalani has been doing my hair for a couple of years now, and I’ve recommended her to a friend who loves her too (unfortunately she doesn’t Unilocal,so I must Unilocal on her behalf hahaha). My hair is THICK and I tend to box dye it black, and when I come in to Kalani with crazy requests she takes her time and doesn’t let me leave until I’m happy. She’s been known to call/​text/​email me a couple of days later to see how my hair is doing (cute, right?) and in a nonintrusive way will remind me when its time for a trim. I love how she accommodates this mom of 3, full time student, part time worker’s schedule and in a short time I come out with healthy, fabulous hair :)
