El Tri Car Stereo and Tint

These guys are something else. I never leave bad reviews but this time I’m a lil upset. First I get a price to get a stereo installed and a camera for $ 120 because I mounted the camera and installed the stereo. The only problem is that I can’t find the power source because the previous owner jacked up the wiring. Not a hard fix for a professional. I was happy with the price of $ 120. I don’t mind paying. So today I went to go get it installed and this guy Hugo stated different prices. $ 80 per hr and min of 2 hrs. The he stated a different price for A sub woofer that was quoted $ 60. Then he started getting upset because I was telling him what his employee told me and how much. The he said I can shop around if I want. But I already took time off from work to go over there. He gives a card and says come back tomorrow while after that he says I can’t charge you $ 20 for install under his breath. Its not my fault his employee gave me a different price. customer service is really bad here. I work for one of the biggest mortgage lenders and we know about customer service. This guy needs to learn to call his employee and ask him what he talked about with the customer.

I had my windows tinted here because it was close to home. Everything seemed fine and then one day the light hit just right on the rear windows and i could see right into the back seat. They had installed the wron shade of tint on the little wing windows. Took it back to them to have them redone no problem, i left my car at 9am on a saturday. I finally picked my car up at 630 pm and it wasnt finished all they had done was remove the film. They did however manage to break my drivers side door handle and now i cannot open the drivers door from inside.

Had all 5 windows done! Great price! They have good deals, recommended place. Go check it out.

Brought my Acura in to get a quote to tint my rear passenger window because my car had been broken into and I needed to match the rest of the windows ($ 60). Then decided to get all four windows tinted because there were some scratches on my old tint and thought it would look nicer to get them all to match perfectly. Also, if I needed felt then Freddy would add it ($ 7.50) per window.
Raymond showed me all the tint options and he said that Freddy would match the two rear windows to the rear windshield (25%). Then the two front windows would be a shade darker then what I previously had (35%). Told me to come back at 12:00 to drop off and it would be ready by 3:30. This was all sounding great until I came back. Raymond called at 4:05 said it will be ready in 15 minutes.
Because my car was broken into I had been inspecting it like crazy from top to bottom front to back inside and out. So I know the little dings and scratches that had been on there already.
Now here comes the bad part…
When I walked in to pick up my car, I mentioned their Unilocal deal ($ 95 gets you $ 125 credit). Then that’s when things got a little weird. Raymond said that it only applied to labor and I was only charged for parts. Okay… fine whatever at least I didn’t purchased it yet. Then he presented me the invoice $ 175 for tint then $ 30 for felt. Raymond said he’d take $ 25 off my total as long as I gave him a Unilocal review. I made the mistake by paying before I even saw my car. Grrrr.
When I first saw my car I was shocked because it didn’t look like I had pictured. I sat inside and the windows had all these wet streak marks all over them and it was lighter than what I had expected. Raymond explained that this was normal and to wait 2 days and it would go away. Okay fine thanks and goodbye. When I got home I was taking a closer look at the tint job and found sooo many scratches around the windows and chips of paint missing! There was a huge scratch on the roof of my car too from them laying something on it and dragging it off!!! What the heck?! Then on everyone one of my doors Freddy had taken a chunk out of the plastic to remove the door panel to access the windows. He was lazy and didn’t get the correct tool to remove the plastic plates. Instead of them admitting and replacing the inexpensive plastic plates, they denied it. Also, his finish work around the doors was a complete sloppy mess, the rubber seal wasn’t trimmed accurately so its not flush to the door/​window frame, and there was a plastic «thing» (extra tint) coming out of the seal of the window, and Freddy said it would go away just like the streaks. White fabric was sticking out of the door from the inside as well. My windshield also has a few streak marks on it and after several washes it just won’t come off.
This is an unprofessional business! I mean who the mother EF do you think you are messing up someone else’s car and returning it to them in a worse condition! AND to tell ME that I’m scamming YOU?! Please people don’t make the mistake I made and stay away! Oh and the icing on the cake… I told Raymond to give me a refund and he said «Ill give you a refund… to get you the F*CK out of here!». Seriously dude how tough do you feel swearing at a customer chick?! Freddy claims he’s been tinting windows for 20 years, hate to break it to you but that’s just straight up embarrassing! My poor car… it’s just sad that I trusted this business.

I’ve been around car stereos for about 7 years and the first stereo place that I went to would do a horrible job causing me to come back to that place 2 or 3 times in the same day with my stereo not working right. It would take hours and hours of my time every visit.
I moved 4 years ago and sometime between then and now, I discovered El Tri Car Stereo and Tint down the street and around the corner from my place. I went there to get an amp fixed I believe. Every time I have brought my car there to get fixed or get parts replaced (amps, wires, remote start key), the guys there are super nice and get the job done fast! I have not had to come back after each visit like the last place I went to! They always know how to fix my stereo and what parts I need to get replaced at a decent price that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg! Whenever people ask me about my stereo or which place I go to, I always recommend El Tri Car Stereo. My windows were already semi-​tinted on my car so I have not had to go to them for that, but from my experience in talking to other people that have gone there, I hear they do a great job with that too! I deff recommend this place to my friends and other people when they ask. You won’t be disappointed with the service. Also, they like to show you exactly what they plan to do to your vehicle before taking steps to do something that you won’t like and let you know what is going on. Thank you for always taking good care of my car when I bring it in to get serviced!

I was referred by a buddy of mine. He had his car tinted here and I liked how his car looked. I forgot the guy’s name, but he was very nice and knowledgeable. He said it would took 3 hrs to finish. So my friend and I decided to kill time by shopping and eating.
After 3 hrs, the guy called me and let me know my car was done. I was very satisfied on how great he tinted my car and the cost was a good deal since I paid cash. I highly recommend this place if anyone want their car tinted.

****minus 10 stars****, I had 2 horrible encounters here:
1) Installed remote popper, this guy would not allow me to check the popper until I paid him whole cash inspite of paying him 50 $ advance. I kept asking for car keys and requesting let me check atleast and he kept saying pay the full money only then u can check. r u kidding me… who is running away with your money… worst customer service.
He called me later and asked me to remove my Unilocal review, I thought since he realized his mistake so I removed it… BIG mistake.
2) After 2 months his remote trunk popper stopped working, I called him many times and he asked me to come on friday morning at 9.30. I left my office and went there and guess what he is not there and not coming to shop today. The guy who works there could not repair it and refused to return/​exchange. I feel cheated and stupid.
Seriously guys, any other shop in bay area will be better then this shop, I would not recommend anyone to go here.

Amazing customer service! Hugo was very welcoming and helped me pick out tint shades. I’m always hesitant whenever I go somewhere to get something done for my car because Iam a girl, I always think people would try and hustle me, but not Hugo. He was very honest and helped answered all my questions. Never did I felt pressured to upgrade to buy something I didn’t need. The whole service took about two hours. And the other guy (didn’t get his name) who helped with the tinting was very very helpful as well. Gave me instructions on what to do and what not to do for the next couple days. It’s been two days since I got it and I can’t help looking at me car. It looks perfect. Thanks again! I will definitely tell all my friends and family to go here for tinting services!

I came here to get my windows tinted due to their low price and great Unilocal reviews. Bottom line is, you get what you pay for. I got my rear windshield two back windows tinted. When I picked up my car, I noticed that there were areas where the tint was adhering unevenly. I talked to the tint guy and he said that once things dry out it will look even. Two weeks go by, most of the uneven areas have smoothed out, but the top of my rear windshield looked terrible and one of the rear windows had lots of bubbles. I brought my car back in and the guy told me that they will redo the rear window. As for my windshield, he explained that the top of my windshield had several inches of dot matrix so the tint will not adhere properly. If I wanted, I could pay an extra $ 80 for them to put a solid piece of «carbon fiber» material so that it becomes opaque. That’s pretty ridiculous when the entire job cost only $ 100.
It would’ve been nice if they had explained from the beginning that this would happen when tinting windows with dot matrix at the top. Anyway, I had them redo the rear window and it turned out nicely, but now I’m stuck with a crappy looking rear windshield. After I came home, I hopped online and read about the dot matrix affecting window tints. I found out that tint shops can apply a piece of vinyl, not carbon fiber, to block off that part of the windshield and that it wasn’t very difficult to do. If I had to do it over again, I’d ask this shop if they worked with vinyl to cover up the dot matrix and whether it was part of the quoted price. If not, I’d go elsewhere. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
Tip: Try to come on a weekday. Both times I went there were over the weekend, and both times I left my vehicle there for over 6 hours.

Had tsken my Mercedes E500 for tinting Hugo and his team did a very good job. Hugo wss very friendly planning to take my bmw too.

Hugo and his team were awesome! I told them what I was looking for and what I wanted. They took a look at the car a found out it wouldn’t work. They then said they could try another option. The new option works perfect and it was $ 40 cheaper. Stay local and give them your business! Thanks Hugo.

I just had a new stereo put in my truck. Hugo did a great job-​very clean installation. Very good prices-​I bought everything from him. He had every thing in stock-​and did the job in the time he said it would take. I would go back any time-​and will recommend this place to my friends, thanks Hugo

I know of this place because I brought in my RSX a few years back to do my tinting and it held up well for years. I finally got a new car and I decided to come back here to do the tints on my S2000. As I remembered, they were very nice and courteous, their work is top notch and the price is very competitive. Even today, it is how I remembered it and I’m glad I brought my car here. If I didn’t know where it was, it would have been somewhat difficult to find but since I’ve been there before I remembered where it was.
The work is phenomenal and they did my tints in less than an hour. Talk about speedy and great services. I would suggest anyone to come here because they also give you a lifetime warranty on their tints. I let my car sit out in the sun so it could dry longer and in the fairly hot sun today, it dried and I could see no water marks or bubbles in the work. I’m more than satisfied with their workmanship.
I’m definitely going to take any other cars my family has to this place if I need tints. The reason I gave them a ⁴⁄₅ is that they are also a audio/​video installer but because I didn’t use their services for that, I couldn’t rate them higher. But as far as tints go, I definitely give them a ⁵⁄₅ stars.

Just got out of El Tri and overall had a great experience. Julio the owner is a very cool dude who knows his stuff.
My tweeter had gone bad (different car stereo place) and I called him regarding pricing. For a new tweeter, his numbers were good but unfortunately when I arrived, the tweeter we were talking about didn’t fit (not his fault). I chose the better, more expensive brand, Kicker, for tweeters and was about to pay him when I asked about stereos.
He gave me some numbers that were a bit above my taste but after a bit, we worked it out to a great deal on a nice Sony stereo.
Unlike other car stereo shops, Julio lets you look at the work as it is happening and he’s a friendly, talkative dude who explained what he was doing. That right there was a much better experience than the other 2 shops I’ve been to who kept you out of the work area with harsh tones and frowning faces.
After installation he made sure it all worked properly and that the Bluetooth was functioning well. My music actually sounds WAY better after that stereo upgrade.
I left very satisfied and may come back later for some tint.

I’ve had six cars tinted here over the last few years (Sierra, Tahoe, Mini, Mazda, Corolla, Mazda) and I plan on having a seventh done tomorrow. The prices can’t be beat for the tint, and the quality seems to be good, as it’s been many years and not one bubble or flake yet.
Some installers are more precise than others, for instance the first mazda and the mini were as perfect as can be, while the window corners on the Tahoe could have been better. The other two are both highly acceptable.
I had some stereo work done here also, and though there was a slight misunderstanding, everything was made right. Another tip, PAY CASH.

My car stereo player broke and thought it was time for a new one. We started out at Fry’s first but it was very difficult to get the installation parts and make an installation appointment so we left very frustrated. We found this place on Unilocal and just showed up. Rio was very helpful. We were able to buy the car stereo and they already had the installation parts there. He would of installed it at that time but we wanted window tinting also so we had to drop off my car the next day. Everything was perfect when we picked up. Very happy with this business and would recommend to anyone.
