Campbell Ace Hardware

It’s been a while since I went to this location but I primarily remember it as being okay. There’s a lot of people on the floor to help you, which is good. The bad is that sometimes they’re not as helpful as you might wish them to be. For example, I went in and asked someone for recommendations for a type of scissors that could «cut anything». I couldn’t remember exacty what you called them (industrial snips) at the time and told the guy «metal, wire, plastic, whatever». He took me to household scissors. I told him that I wanted something stronger and he took me to… kitchen scissors. Yes, I’m a woman, but he couldn’t think of a single tool that might fit my description? Hell, if he had recommended a hacksaw I would have not felt so patronized. Anyway, I looked into it and some kitchen shears do say they are strong enough to cut branches and carpet. I can’t help but suspect he didn’t know that, however. So I found the snips myself.
Still, every other time I went in (with the correct name of an item) I got what I wanted.

My first few experiences at Ace were horrible. A cashier named Danielle was very rude to me when I was trying to exchange a can of spray paint that didn’t work. She went to her manager and he asked me if I knew how to spray paint. I felt that they both didn’t believe me. Anyways, they finally exchanged it for me.
A young man named Tyler who works there has been the nicest, most helpful, most polite person there. He is a pleasure to deal with. So the 4 stars are for him.

I go in to purchase some blades for my hacksaw so i know exactly what im looking for. So i walk in and am greeted by the cashier as i pass the front and it seemed like she was worried about making sure she let me know that she saw me because i was way past the cashier when she yelled hello. So walking to the isle about 3 seconds later i am greeted again by another associate in the main isle. He asked if i needed help finding something and I replied «no im fine» and walk into the isle. The associate follows me into the isle and asks again if i need help finding something. I said no im fine. So at this point ive only been in the store for about 3 mins and i have been asked 3 time if i need help. The associate continues to stand next to me and pretends to be looking at the shelfs. At this point im annoyed and offended because i feel as though im being watched by this guy. I tell him he can leave «im npt going to steal your shit». I cursed because this guy doesn’t get the point. I don’t need help and don’t appreciate being followed. He still stands there and says this is his «assigned» isle. So i move to thr next isle because i felt uncomfortable and was seeing if he was full of bs. He follows me. Now i know he is following me. I go to the front and ask for the manager. It turns out Andy, the guy who was following me, was the manager. Wow. I ask for customer service number, leave the store report it. Its not ok to follow people in the store just because of how they look. I headed to Home Depot and bought my saw.

Organized and helpful employees. I was surprised! They have just enough different items and model numbers of each to get the job done and secure your going here over Home Depot to find common items! It’s clean, spacious and less stress producing than trying to find items in the bigger competition!

Always impressed by being greeted as I walk in the door. The staff here is incredibly helpful and always very friendly. Parking is easy. I will skip the big box any day to get the stuff I need here with friendly and helpful service. They are my local go-​to place.

I’m writing to commend Ace Hardware and its manager for outstanding service. In June of this year mom bought a fan from Ace, last night it failed. Mom has been a loyal Ace customer for more than 40 years. And has been satisfied with almost all of her purchases. However this fan failed after a month and a half, initially the clerk on duty directed me to return the product to the vendor, after speaking with the manager, he chose to go beyond the. Written 30 day return policy and refund moms money. Exceptional customer service deserves recognition. Hats off to Ace Hardware and their wonderful team!

I’ve been to this location multiple times over the years for my rental properties. I have always been very impressed with the level of customer service. They actually know something about hardware. What a concept. Far too often I’ve gone to other places and the employees are utterly clueless. The manager Andy is particularly courteous.

I’ve had the worst retail experience of my life at this Ace. Employees, Hong and Daniella, referred to me as «the girl», «the girl is back!» «I’m calling about the girl.» Nothing to address me as the customer with the Weber issue. They are ghetto, unprofessional, inconsistent with their information. I am not going to go too deep into what the problem was other than it was about the Weber grill that was assembled by the store, kept at the store, and not picked up yet. The problem was I wanted an upgrade and ACE would not allow it. The day before, Hong told me that if I wanted an equal exchange or upgrade, then it was possible but I can tell in between the lines that it was discouraged. The day after when I went back to the store, Hong told me that I cannot get a refund, and now that I don’t want the assembled grill, it is no longer Ace’s problem. I stated that Ace sold me the grill. Hong said «No, Weber sold you the grill. You need to call Weber.» I called Weber just to amuse myself. Weber stated «this is clearly a retail issue.» That is the ultimate truth. Other lies Hong told me, that delivery fee is $ 50. The day that I bought the grill, I was asked «do you want it delivered, it only costs $ 25.» Later on, when I decided to have the grill delivered I told Hong that I only lived 1 street over and he sarcastically said «everyone says that.» I am also disappointed by the store owner Oli. He personally delivered my grill from his truck. Not a word of acknowledgement to me about the bullshit customer service I went through, not even a hello. He acted like he was in disguise. There is more to my story, it’s complicated and a customer service experience from hell. The more I write about these people and this store, the angrier and disgusted I get. The bottomline is they screwed me over and everyone involved (HONG, DANIELLA, OLI, NICO) knows it. We’ve lived in this neighborhood of Campbell (which is literally a street over from ACE) for 6 years now, and we always believe in supporting local businesses especially in Campbell but this ACE does not deserve our support. They lack professionalism, loyalty to customers, and customer service. Most of all they have proven there is NO business integrity. The employees are disrespectful and requires more training in customer service. Hong needs to stop lying to customers. Customers are educated these days. JUST STOP LYING!

We went in looking to buy a Weber grill, when the store manager «Nico» approached us and told us they were having a promo on the grills the following weekend. So, we decided to to buy the grill the following weekend. We asked him if we could put down a deposit to hold the grill for us, to which he said «you could do that, but I have so many grills being built in the back right now, that there really is no need to put one on hold.»
We go in to the same store the following week on a Friday evening and of course the grill we wanted is no longer available! In addition to that they had a clueless store manager that did not know what grills she had in stock. After fumbling around for about 30 minutes, she tells us she has a grill in the back and can sell to that us. When they bring it out we see it was the floor sample, and she is convincing us that this was built 2 days ago, yet you could see how dirty/​dusty it was, and had scratches all over it.
I am all for supporting independently owned stores, but this is one store I will not be supporting. The store managers (especially Nico) could use some training and make an attempt to do a better job. Trying to shop at ACE Hardware has been a waste of my time. I’m better off shopping at OSH, Home Depot, or Lowes.

I’m not one who frequents hardware items, but I was looking for a flower care product and nowhere seemed to carry it except ACE hardware. Their store didn’t have it, so I utilized their online service (which was seamless), and the product arrived right on time to the store. The worker called me as soon as it arrived and it was a quick and easy pick up. The worker was also very helpful as he gave me some more tips on how to take care of my flowers and keep them healthy for as long as possible.
I would definitely come back again, whether it be for a pick-​up or to check out what other household items may be of use for my place.

Friendly, but stupid. I mentioned to the cashier that I need to find a HW store that has people available to help with with what to buy. She laughed and told me to have a nice day. I realize that finding good help is difficult, but that should of solicited a «I can get someone to help you». It didn’t.
I’ll just keep shopping at OSH or Home Depot. I would prefer to shop at the independently owned stores, but not if they refuse to training their people.

Despite this being an Ace Hardware, the people who run this place give it a great family feel. Super helpful and friendly. Found the WD-​40 I wanted with very little hassle. My nephew and I studied the shoplifter pics they post on their window and laughed. The people working there laughed with us.

Great service! Got the screws I needed and nails for some home improvement and side projects. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped find the cheapest solution for the problem.

Visited twice today for electrical and then plumbing. Great friendly and helpful service for each item, from Linh and DJ. Also other associates in the past have been very good including the owner. Ordered a special electric lawn mower from ACE online last week with pick-​up in the store, worked out great (B&D MM875). Easy parking and no hassles or confusion, unlike other big box HW stores locally with a nice niche coffee shop next door. Reminds me of Campbell 35 years ago; good service, products and people that are Not rushed. This is worth a few extra dollars.

Unusual hardware items are here plus lots of friendly SERVICE! That is key ok.
I went in there looking for those stainless steel ball chain necklaces I use to carry my house key on when I was a kid. I found a small length prepackaged in the key making area which I have to say has an interesting variety of key things. Things that attach keys to your pants, things that attach keys to other keys, and key things I didn’t take the time to figure out its mechanics but I’m sure someone is looking for it. So fascinating ha ha. Seriously it is (fascinating) and that is what you find here so look around and knock yourself out.
Chains…the helpful salesman took me down a few aisles to «chains central». He showed me this little set up where you put together your own chain necklace. Brass, white balls, stainless balls, different sizes in spools. Then there’s these tiny drawers with the finishing attachments. So cool! Yardstick provided along with this cutting plier thing. Viola, custom chain necklace… people…and I made it myself.
Made another one out of brass for my house key for those hikes in the foothills.
Headed over to the kitchen aisle to peruse cleaning products. Pretty fun. Lots of variety.
Saw this lady leaving with two fully loaded hand trucks of canning jars and other canning supplies in tow. She made a haul here.
Will return to look around when I have more time and to pick up some wood stain. Heard from a friend that they have a great color fence stain.

As soon as I walked, the cashier acknowledge me.
I said where do I get a door latch; immediately he said aisle 11, right hand side.
walked over in two seconds, perused their large organized selection and grabbed my latch.
It’s a nice hardware store with brand names and the better quality I prefer.
Good selection of quality BBQ grills.
Spacious store, courteous help.
Not the cheapest prices, but selection and service they got. In spades.
Will return.

It is so great to walk into a section of a hardware store and have the staff there know how to help you or find what you are looking for.
Cashiers are very personable and will often point to items that are comparable to what I am buying but on sale that week.
It is definitely like a mom and pop that have gone away since the advent of the megastore. The only downside to the mom and pop is that they may not have everything you could possibly be looking for but I trade that for the expertise and caring attitude of the staff any day.

The staff is very helpful and always willing to spend time with you. They carry Benjamin Moore paint and that’s they only paint I use so I’m thrilled I don’t have to go further for paint anymore.
Pros:
Friendly staff, easy to find items, clean store, and easy parking, and I’m supporting my neighborhood store
Cons:
A bit limited on some items, a little dark, and the space is too big for what they need

Good inventory. They had what the other guys didn’t have and didn’t know about.
Friendly and knowledgable staff.
