Brentwood

If you want a quiet and safe place to live in Campbell, I recommend Brentwood. I definitely miss living here, and most reasonable place to live in Campbell, CA :)

My wife and I lived here for 2 years with our daughter and our dog. Caitlin (Manager) and Efraim (Maintenance) were great. The grounds are very well maintained and any questions or issued we had were addressed and fixed almost immediately.
I would give them 5 stars but the buildings are pretty old. There is no A/​C and you aren’t allowed to use window units so it can get pretty hot inside during the summer. The deposit wasn’t an issue for us — they do a pre-​move out inspection and we got exactly what we expected. They charged us about ¹⁄₃ of our total deposit for cleaning, paint and carpet steaming, then we got a check for the rest about 10 days after moving out.

This apartment complex is very quaint and you get that small community feel. Everything is well maintained and reflects well on the landscaping. The rating I’m giving is mainly based on service. Caitlin and her staff have been very attentive and efficient regarding any of my questions and concerns. I’ve had a few issues; to no one’s fault, could of been really inconvenient. The staff had acted swiftly in addressing these issues. Being in an industry where service counts for a lot, I am nothing but impressed. It’s a great place to live.

Oh, Brentwood…
So I lived here for 6 months, at first the apartments and the complex didn’t seem that bad. I initially lived in a studio, all the studios are on the lower floor, above are the 2 – 3 bedroom apartments. I lived by myself and worked Mon-​Fri, 40 hours a week. My upstairs neighbors however were party animals ²⁴⁄₇. THEY WERE SO LOUD. I could hear their dog running in their kitchen very late at night, I could hear them stomping continuously, talking, yelling on occasion and again, it was super late at night. It didn’t matter the day of the week. I definitely had to get use to the loud sounds, I even complained to the manager but they still continued to stomp and be completely inconsiderate. Part of it definitely was the poor insulation, both walls and celling.
Anyway, half way through my 6 month lease I found a roommate and moved to a 2 bedroom apartment. This definitely helped when it came to the noise factor as I now lived on the top floor VS the bottom. However, management became my issue once I moved from my first apartment to my second and also as I moved out at the end of my lease. When I lived in the studio I had no visitors as the place was too small, so it was just me that walked on the carpet and I never had my shoes on. I hung like two items on the wall and I kept the apartment spotless. In the end I was charged almost my full deposit. It was so ridiculous, the property manager always had an attitude and wouldn’t budge on the cleaning fees, it was beyond ludicrous. She was not friendly, approachable, and had poor communication skills, all the things you need and want in a property manager she was far from it. The same ridiculous fees applied when we moved out of the 2 bedroom even though we did a deep clean (just like I had with the studio) it did not matter.
Other cons–
–High rent, you do not get what you pay for.
–Asbestos in the ceiling.
–Laundry room only took quarters and there was no quarter machine on the property.
–Washing machines were small and shoddy, they always seemed to need repair.
–A lot of dog owners live in the complex. I love dogs, they weren’t the issue their owners however were. Dogs continuously barking at 6 am every morning. Owners not cleaning up dog waste. Dogs without leashes chasing you down.
–Gates to the complex never locked, which is a bit scary especially when there’s a rough neighborhood right across the street and you live alone.
–Lastly, the last month of my lease the property manager stopped communicating with us altogether, I had a question about the last months rent but NOPE, NO RESPONSE. We had to complain to Lyon Properties to get our deposit (what little remained of it) and the rest of the finances resolved. So unprofessional!
I would never recommend anyone to move into these apartments, not anyone that I liked anyway.

First Unilocal review! Had to pop my cherry once I lived at this place. Agree with the last two reviews, you cannot do anything to get your deposit back. Treat the deposit as part of your rent and at least you won’t lose sleep on not getting it back.
I heard they had a new property manager over the last few years and hence the recent negative reviews. This manager is terrible. No responses, attitude and lies straight to my face. What a gem she is. Also assume nothing will get fixed, so make sure everything works upon moving in. I complained about things when I moved in (to the oh so pristine apartment as they argued on me moving out, yeah right…). Also, they have a cockroach problem which she argued I brought with me. Forgot I had paid a security deposit for my pet cockroach. Seriously, what a gem she is. Just think, there is some really lucky guy out there…
Anyways, enjoy if you dare. Anything to save a few bucks my guess, but is it really worth it?

I have lived at the Brentwood Apartment Community for over 2 years. I personally love it.
The size of this complex is perfect, just big enough to build relationships with your neighbors, yet small enough to make it feel homey. All of the apartments are completely up to date with hardwood floors and new appliances. The common grounds are a joy to stroll through, beautiful flowers, clean pool, and great community in general. The people who live here are nice and caring. As for location, you could not really ask for anything better. You are walking distance to Safeway, VTA, Movie Theaters, Downtown Campbell, Restaurants, Bars and a huge park. But if that non of that stuff convinces you to check this place out.
The management at Brentwood is top of the line. Monique & Efren are like the dream team of property managers (think Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen). To put it simply, they care about you. I had a little problem with a window latch, Efren fixed it that day, he even vacuumed my appt before leaving (talk about going the extra mile). I work late hours and needed to talk to Monique (the property manager) asap, but I would not be home till after office hours. She stayed past her office hours (close at 6, she stayed till 7:30) just to help me out. I honestly could not ask for anything more from an apartment community.
This kind of premium treatment and location comes with a little extra cost, but it is completely worth it. To sum Brentwood up in 3 words: class, care and integrity.

I love living at the Brentwood Apartments and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! It’s typical apartment living, of course sometimes you will hear people, but overall it’s pretty mellow… there seem to be a lot of families and everyone i’ve met is really nice. John, the manager, is awesome and so helpful! The maintenance man is awesome, too! Any issue I’ve ever had have been fixed within a day. The rent is super cheap, too! You won’t find a nicer place for this kind of money!

I’ve lived here for a while and the place is really going down hill. It is mostly due to the area though. There are some very loud new residents and parking after the office closes is hard to find. There are lots of vacancies though. The smell of pot is really nasty. The pool shuts down a lot and when it is open it is not very clean.
