Action Day Primary Plus – Campbell

I have 3 kids at action day Campbell and like most places I have checked it’s not perfect but it’s the best I could find for my kids. I love the way the rooms are separated on the nursery based on development and not just by age groups, it makes you feel like your kids are in a safe place and the school provide all the developmental toys for this stage.
I love the balance between academics and games on the preschool ages and the AMAZING potty training (miss Thuha is the master of potty training). Most of the teachers are great especially the babies (room 14) and all preschool teachers. In most cases the ratio is pretty good other than the potty training classes where they sometimes have 1 teacher on 12 kids, that at least half of them need to run for the toilet sometimes.
The school is open almost all year round (7 days off if I’m not mistaken) which is perfect for working parents but I wish the staff will get some professional training sometimes (not because they are not professional enough, just because there are always new things to learn)
The one thing that really bothers me is the subs in the school, some are not as good as the teachers and it feels like no one is passing them personal information on the kids (like if a kid is not allowed to eat school snacks or has special sleeping habits for example)

Almost two years after my initial review, it seems appropriate to provide an update. Our level of satisfaction with the child care that our daughter has received at this campus is very high. The staff really cares about the children and they take great effort in creating a well rounded program that offers room for individual growth. This is definitely far more than just a childcare or a daycare center. This is place where children are nurtured and given the opportunity to learn through play and the exploration of the world around them. We all want to offer our children the best… Action Day is the best!

My son has been at this school for almost 6 months now, and we really like it. The administrative staff is always available should we have any questions, and the teachers are absolutely wonderful; they are very patient with my son who is having a hard time getting into the flow of school, and they give him the attention he needs to get comfortable with his surroundings. All in all we’ve been having a great experience.

My Son is in the K1 program. Ms. Esther is super awesome with him when i drop him off. He tends to be very upset when i am leaving, She holds to calm him down while i leave. I appreciate the daily paper they fill out to update me on what my son did through out the day. I am glad i have my son there, i do not regret it. Thank you ADPP

My children have been at Coventry since the beginning of the school year. My son is in their kindergarten program and my daughter in their preschool program. The office staff and teachers are kind, accommodating, helpful and really solution oriented. I am a single parent and having the school be so supportive makes a huge difference! My son’s confidence and skills have improved dramatically in just 8 weeks and my daughter has made tremendous improvement potty training, as well as have made strides in her behavior.
We couldn’t live without Ms. Rosa, Ms. Karla, Ms. Laurie, Ms. April, Ms. Becky and Ms. Guerrero!

Our son has been attending ADPP for a year now and we cannot say enough positive things about it. We have referred friends and family, which says a lot! He started here when he was 3 months old and he is well cared for, loved and taken great care of. We are very happy with our decision to have them take care of our son while we are at work!

My son been attending school here for 1+ year and we have been very please with the teachers and curriculum that they have. The staff are very friendly and responsive to our inquiry. We are planning to put our second son into school when he is ready. I highly recommend any parents that are looking for a daycare/​pre k school for their child to check out primary plus.

This is my second review, my first was last December. My daughter is now in Junior K at Coventry and I am still very happy with the school environment and staff. I have also toured other locations and have met quite a few people in the organization. The program is very well set up, the teachers that I have had experience with have all been great. I know my daughter is in good hands when I drop her off and she often wants me to stay with her at school to play when I pick her up. I have met many of the parents of other children attending this school and have not heard any stories like the one star review I saw on Unilocal.Of course with any program there are going to be days when Murphy’s Law enters the equation but that possibility exists at every school and every environment. The kids all appear to be happy here and the staff in my opinion is very well trained. My daughter has been in classes with miss Rosa, miss Angel, and miss Jacklyn and she loves her school. I highly recommend Action Day and plan on my daughter continuing in the program.

My son has been going to ADPP Coventry for 18 months. We have come to really love it there and my son is always very happy. Over the past 6 months, the school seems to be making a concerted effort to fix issues that parents bring to their attention in a timely and appropriate manner. As I read through the previous reviews, the things that parents were complaining about in 2010 – 2011 no longer seem to be an issue from our perspective. The office staff (Miss Laurie, Miss Karla and Miss April) take parent concerns very seriously and work hard each day to make sure the school runs effectively and smoothly. My son has had some really incredible teachers/​caregivers there as well. Miss Amanda, Miss Nkemkah, Miss Estella, Miss Cristina, Miss Norma, Miss Nina, Miss Vanessa and Miss Preeti, just to name a few. They are caring, kind and always open to suggestions from my husband and I about how we would like our son’s day to run.
My son plays outside twice a day everyday, he reads books, does circle time and interacts with his friends all day long. The art projects that come home from his classroom are adorable and above and beyond what I would be able to do with him at home.
The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is that there are a few staff members who I do not think spend enough time playing with the kids as opposed to just sitting there and watching them. That, however, is really just an isolated incident with one particular teacher. All in all, I will continue to send my happy healthy baby there and will continue to recommend ADPP to any friend who asks!

This review is for their infant/​toddler program. I started my daughter at this location when she was 4 months old and I had to return to work. I was very nervous about day care as she was a fairly high-​maintenance infant. (Did not self-​soothe well, had bad acid reflux and always wanted to be held.) I had visited and observed about 5 – 6 different day cares so I knew that this was a solid program. Ms. Estella and her crew provided phenomenal care. She was super attentive to my daughter’s needs and she often gave me great advice about taking care of my daughter (very helpful for me as a new mom). I’d even venture to say that she is a «baby-​whisperer»! My daughter is now 14 months and has since been in two other classrooms for older babies. We are still happy with the program. We enjoy the parents-​night-​out options and the front office staff is always professional and friendly.

Every experience I’ve had here has been positive.
My daughter loves it there.
Interaction with staff (Miss Beki and Miss Jacklyn) have been exemplary.
Highly recommended.

I want To preface this review by saying that this does not apply to all ADPP schools. My son was at another site (el Quito) and He loves it there and my wife and I both felt very safe there.
We transitioned to the Coventry school because the location was more convenient for me and my wife. Like I said we love his old location and would recommend it to anyone and thought this would carry over to his this location as well. We did our homework before we moved my son. We read reviews, we attended open house functions, we brought him to class at various times of the day to see how he interacted with the staff and other kids. When we finally moved him over to Coventry he did well his first week. His teacher Miss esther was great.(I still like her this review should not reflect badly on her).
The second week of class I brought my son in a little later then I usually did (he had a big long weekend). when I arrived at his classroom there were twelve to thirteen kids and one Teacher who was obviously unable to handle things. The teacher was flustered and running around. (who wouldn’t be with twelve two year olds running around) When I enquired about my sons regular teacher I was informed that she had called out sick and that the next teacher would be in at nine. This was at seven forty five. a little too long in my book. I hung out for a little while and then decided to go to the main office to get help for this poor lady.
When I Arrived at the main office There was no one there. I called out a few times and no one answered, I wondered to the back rooms to see if anyone was around but found no one. I waited for about 15 minutes until someone to finally showed up. I told them that the teacher was overwhelmed in my sons class. she also informed me that my sons regular teacher called out sick and the sub was late but she would go over right away and followed me out the door. My first thought was «doesn’t that leave the front office completely unattended again?» what if another class has an emergency? I returned to my sons room to see that at least six more kids had arrived this put the ratio to, eighteen kids one teacher and one office worker.
I felt uncomfortable enough with the situation that I made the decision to take my son to work with me rather then leave him in that chaotic of a classroom. While I had my son in the room next door packing his stuff from his box which still had his name misspelled after we informed them of this error on his second day. The office worker came over to ask if everything was okay and why was I leaving? This left the teacher alone with all the kids next door. I told her I was not comfortable leaving him there for that day.
I called my wife to let her know what was going on and later that day called to talk to the director of the program and explained the above story and my reasoning behind why I left. she apologized and asked if there was anything she could do? I responded to her that «Daycare is all about trust and that day Coventry broke that trust. how can I know that what I saw was not happening every day and it was just because I happened to drop him off late I saw it? » This conversation was the second to last one I had with Coventry. They never reached out to us to tell us what they had done to improve communications and put plans in place so this does not happen again.
The last conversation we had was because Coventry charged us for my sons less than two week stay, a week and a half earlier and at a higher rate than they were supposed to.
Thankfully my sons former school (El Quito) was more than happy to have him back (he is still there and we all still love it)

The school and staff at Conventry are amazing. I’m so glad to be part of their team.

I can’t speak to experiences at this school for infants or toddlers, but I can tell you that it’s great for pre-​school aged kids. We love this school. Our daughter has been going here for the past year. She started when she 4 years old in the pre-​K class with Ms. Angel, and now she is in Jr. Kindergarten with Ms. Amy. Both teachers are amazing, as are the other pre-​K and Jr. K teachers.
Our daughter only attended 2 days a week from January 2011 through August 2011, but by the end of the first week every teacher knew her name and knew both me and my husband. She started the Jr. K program the end of August, and now attends 5 days/​week.
She was in a home daycare prior to Coventry. We loved the daycare (it was grandma’s daycare, so of course we loved it), but at 4 years old it was time to get exposure to other kids and get some additional education. Even going just 2 days a week, I couldn’t believe how much she was learning just in the first few weeks.
I love that the classes are small (12 students per teacher), and the office staff is spectacular. I think we got lucky because the new director had just started a few months before our daughter was enrolled. From the other reviews, it sounds like there were some staff issues previously. They did have one helper (not a teacher) that started working at the school last Spring. She was the most unfriendly person I’d ever met. She never smiled and always just complained about wishing the day was over so she could go home. My daughter seemed to like her, so I guess her sourness was reserved for the parents. She is no longer with the school, so that’s an improvement for sure! I always thought she stuck out like a sore thumb because everyone was always so friendly. Maybe that’s why she’s gone.
They have an excellent Summer program with all sorts of activites that vary each day. Some days they have a bounce house or pony rides, they make special food treats, have field trips, water play days, etc. Also, each week has a special theme. For example, one week is holidays where they focus on a different holiday each day: Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, St. Patricks, Halloween, etc. Or they have pirate week, etc. Last summer they had a visit from Peter Pan and Tinker Bell for the kids. I can’t say enough about their Summer program.
I really can’t say enough great things about this school.

Things have changed since many of the reviews prior to 2012. New office staff and a few new teachers. There is a real sense of community, social gatherings that allow my child to have fun while I meet other parents. My child started here as a 2 year old and will be soon going into Junior/​Transitional Kindergarten. The teachers are great, the two year olds have a lower ratio than most schools and the Junior K program offers Spanish and Music which I love. A ton of fun action in the summer, extra things for the kids to do and field trips for the older kid. Many of the teachers have been here a long time, and the new ones are a great addition and add some new ideas. I would hands down reccomend this school to family and friends, they have great promotions and discounts for several companies, teachers and community workers!

I started my son here at Coventry when he was 3 years old. I heard about Action day because my niece has been a student there since 4 years old and is now in the 6^th grade attending Action day. Anyways, I am very happy with the school. My son was in a home daycare before with a close family friend. Omg the difference I saw in such a short period of time. His knowledge, social skills, attitude, etc. He really enjoys his time here at school. He is always very happy to go to school and very happy when I pick him up. Knowing that my child is safe at school and I never worry about him while I am working does not have a price tag. The staff is also very great and we LOVE his teacher! I honestly have no negative thoughts on the school and plan to keep him in Action Day as long as possible. ;)

My daughter really enjoys her time at Action Day. I too am a first time mommy and was afraid of leaving her at 2 years old. She has only been with family for the past two years. I felt the need to share how loving and caring Miss Esther and Miss Tuha are. I love how they will share details with me about her day including a written report on the # of diaper changes and her food intake. The ladies were wonderful at soothing her during that first week when she had a little separation anxiety as well. The office staff is also great! They would provide updates when I started to miss my daughter and call to check in. I believe there have been changes to upper management since the last reviews were written. We have had nothing but a positive experience here. Thank you Action Day.

This is not a facility that encourages healthy social, emotional and intellectual development in a growing mind, but is rather a place to keep your child out of harms-​way, diapered, and fed.
The organization looks good on the surface with the décor, swings, website and staged kids structures in the front, but I was disturbed with the care she received there & transferred her to another daycare. My daughters behavior at home has changed in many negative ways after she began attending here with fits of rage & tantrums that are not her normal personality. I’ve noted that she now cries each time she see’s one of the specific caretakers there and that alone is concerning to me & she still cries when I leave her. Prior to this daycare she loved her babysitter and so much so that my daughter would run to her with open arms and couldn’t wait for me to leave so she could play.
The ladies who tend to the children are constantly chastising the kids and I get a sense that it’s just a job for them. The girls at the front desk appear kind, but it’s not sincere or genuine. The women who directly care for the children lack degrees in child development as is obvious from the behavior & comments they exhibit. I was helping my daughter put away her lunch one day after we arrived and I heard one of the caretakers screaming at one of the toddlers in a manner that frightened even me. Whatever the reason, there was absolutely nothing a toddler might have done to deserve such a response. I’ve noted comments made to the children which are not appropriate and seen a caretaker holding down a screaming child so she could put her hair in pigtails (because she claims the little girl asked her to do it but then decided otherwise so she cried as she attempted to wiggle free). Perhaps is that they’re put in so tight that in order to remove them they must be cut out. Nonetheless, the woman held her down to finish the hair job even though the girl was screaming and wanting her to stop. Shortly after this episode, a little boy came to her to imply he wanted his hair done and she responded, «What is this about little boys wanting their hair done? Little boys don’t have their hair done. It’s only for little girls. I just don’t know what is going on in the world anymore.» This same caretaker told me that my daughter once told her ‘no’ when she said it was time for a nap so the woman responded by telling her, «Don’t you tell me ‘no’. If you tell me ‘no’ again then I’m going to take your blanket away !». (Her blanket never leaves her arms and goes with her everywhere). After telling me this, she seemed quite impressed with herself in regards to her behavior management tactics. Go figure that this is the same woman who elicits a cry each time my daughter catches sight of her.
The room the kids are kept in always smells of urine & feces. All things considered, this is not the place I want my daughter to spend extended time at and after discovering other reviews that echo my same concerns, I’m wise to seek alternatives for childcare. Only 3 months of being here was far too long. I’ve moved her to the Bucknall location and I could not be happier.

My infant son was here for only a month before we started looking elsewhere for day care.
I see plenty of other lengthy posts here so I’ll keep this short.
While picking up my son one day, my wife noticed another baby sitting in a swing by herself with a bottle in her mouth, and a towel stuffed under the bottle to hold it in her mouth.
This a major child safety issue! When we originally took the tour of the facility, they went out of their way to point out that when your baby is fed, they will receive individual attention and are fed by a staff member for safety reasons.
So much for that being true! We moved my son to a home daycare and have been much happier ever since.

Had my son go here for the potty-​training class for a few months. He got potty trained. Very pricey $ 105 a week for twice a week, for HALF DAYS
Then when I had him switch to the potty trained class, they made me pay monthly cause it was «easier» for bookkeeping and it was hardly a difference.
The only pro: about 12 – 16 students with a teacher and a helper, makes for a great ratio. Maybe that’s why it’s so pricey. I pulled him out cause he kept getting sick from the other kids.
