A-1 Pool Removal of San Jose

Finally I got rid of useless swim pool.
First day he came by and explained how work will be done in details and gave me a reasonable estimate which doesn’t need any negotiation.
And some days after he pumped out all of the water to drain. (It was small inside-​water-​pump and took ~20-​hour.)
And then, there was long waiting for my turn and seemed he is quite popular and busy.
And finally my turn was up, he did it everything quickly and nicely.
Bobcat broke the bottom then sidewalls and coping.
Requested him to deeply break down sidewalls and he tried his best to do so.
And then filling the pool with lots of soils and done.
He is very responsive with good communication skill.

Dishonest! Quote a price over the phone and asking for a higher price in person. I needed some dirts removed and spent a lot of time calling around. And finally got a quote over the phone with Terry for $ 500 for clean dirt, no trash (i didnt considered weeds as trash). So I asked whens the earliest he can come. It took a while but its understandable, hes a busy man. When he finally came, i asked him again to confirm the price… And he said $ 550… So i said but i thought we agreed on $ 500 over the phone? He replied, no, i have it in my book as $ 550. What?!? Thats BS! (i thought to myself) i was positive that he said $ 500 over the phone. Cant miss heard $ 550 for $ 500 (they dont even sound the same). So i asked, so you cant do it for $ 500 then? Then he changes his story… He said, for $ 500, i’ll only take some of the dirts and i agreed $ 500 for clean dirt not dirt with trash. I asked him, what trash? He reponded, the weeds… OMFG. Really? I was short on time and just wanted to get it done, so i paid $ 550… Expecting him to do a decent job… but he left my yard looking like a dirt field. Dirts, everywhere! He didnt even attempt to somewhat clean it up. He loaded and drove off. He was rushing to get to another job… That tell me that hes’s all about making that $$$ and not care about his customers. Quanity over quality!

A-​1 Pool Removal and Terry Arrighi just finished our pool removal and we are very satisfied with the result.
Terry gave us the most competitive bid, but not one so low that he would have to cut corners or not do the work to code. He filed for the permit on a Monday and started the job on the next day. He made sure the inspector came out and signed off before he covered the drainage holes in the bottom of the pool.
He explains the process clearly, so there are no surprises. In San Jose, pools can be removed in two ways: 1) open drainage holes in the bottom and crush the coping back and fill with dirt or 2) full removal. If you plan to build over the site, you need to do full removal, which costs twice as much. City of Campbell requires full removal.
He is an expert Bobcat driver and minimized the damage on the 200ish trips back and forth to the front yard.
Terry recommended that I sell my 5-​year old pool equipment on Craigslist, and I got $ 980 for the heater, filter, pump, and sweeper. That helped a lot.
He recommended very high quality weed blocker and a layer of base rock under the finish stone to make it more even. He cleaned up the front and back as promised. He finished in 5 working days. Terry is the most kind and laid back contractor we have ever worked with. He just adopted some babies, so you can tell he is a good guy.
My electric use dropped by 400 kwh a month with the pool gone. Good riddance.
We installed a gas line and will put a fire pit where the diving board used to be.
