My bf and I went on the Kayaking tour on the Verde River and it was amazing! We had so much fun. The tour guides were very nice, helpful, and patient. They did not get annoyed when an older lady and her adult daughter in the back kept falling very far behind the rest of the group. They just helped catch them up and encourage them. Everyone was also equipped with a water cannon, which was unexpected and a lot of fun! The tour guides even participated in the water fights. The river was very calm and easy to navigate for first time kayakers like my bf and I. We went last summer, but I would recommend to go in the spring when the water level is higher.

My wife and I did the water to wine kayak expedition that starts and finishes at the Alcantara Vineyard. The kayak trip lasted about an hour and a half and was the perfect length of time for how hot it was that day(106). Our guide was attentive to our needs and the duckies were easy to operate. It was a nice workout, the scenery was beautiful, the squirt guns were a great touch. Thank you for a fun trip Cody! The vineyard had changing rooms to get cleaned up afterwards. Staff at winery was fun and friendly. The wine was excellent, try the confluence, it was one of my favs.

This is the best group to tour with At a reasonable price to do it but they do wide spread of touring and they have very kind staff and you wouldn’t regret it!!!

Used a Deal Chicken for this turned out to be a great deal and a heck of a lot of fun, highly recommend it to anyone who can. There are spots where you need to paddle to keep moving down the river so you will need to really use those arms. No real danger of falling out these ducky style kayaks are pretty much full proof but it is still possible. I took my digital camera down the river in a zip lock no issues. the crew supplied snacks at the start and finish and also drinking water just bring your own bottle. I’d recommend going in either March, April or late to mid Oct.

So glad we booked this kayaking tour down the Verde River. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable. My husband and I find it hard to find things for our kids to do without fighting.(13yr old girl, 16yr old boy) We took the early trip and were on the river by 8:30am. One day out of 365 we had a great time together. We had a tour guide and we could go at our own pace. Saw so much wild life. The type of kayak’s they have are single person«ducky’s» and they were much more comfortable than the traditional kayak’s I was use to. We have been going to Sedona for 5 years and we never knew about this. Wish I had known sooner.

My family is «local». We live in Phoenix, but we are always looking for active activities to do with our family or when guests are in town. This past weekend(last week of June 2012), we had a friend in town and so we decided to book a Kayaking tour along the Verde River. We had hoped that traveling north it would have been a little cooler than the typical 108 – 112 we see in June but it was still 99 degrees in Camp Verde(an hour and half north of Phoenix). The tour is a two hour 2 ½ hour and 4 – 5 miles of paddling on the river. It’s not as tiring as it sounds because you are going with the current and it was actually quite relaxing. There were 12 total participants(including the four of us) on the tour — to one guide(who always stayed back with the slowest kayak-er). The tour provides the shuttle ride from the office, rubber kayaks(which were comfortable for anyone under 6 foot tall) and provided everyone bottled water. They also equipped everyone with squirt guns which in addition to fun, also kept us refreshed out on the river. My 11 year old son had to ride tandem with my husband and this worked to their advantage since my husband could steer the kayak in and out of attack zones for squirting the rest of us poor sods who had to drive while shooting. We saw sorts of birds, including a Red-tailed Hawks, and some beavers. We experienced a few rapids, but the water was low. The guide informed us that the best time of year to go would be March/April, late July/August(when AZ monsoon’s hit), and December. I have friends who have done the Paddle to Wine tour, which sounds great for adults without kids :) Check out the website for all the different tours, which aren’t cheap, but definitely provide an out-of-the-box adventure(sans any real danger) for families and adults. I recommend for a quick day trip or as part of a long weekend up north.
