Distant Drums RV Resort

This is a nice campground, but it has some problems. The sites are unlevel. We needed to put blocks under our front wheels, and noticed that most of the other RVs have blocks or wood under theirs. The laundry is very strange. You need to go to the office and get a card (similar to a credit card). You have them load as much money on it as you think you’ll need. Then you insert that into a slot on the washer or dryer. There is no compartment for your detergent. You have to put it directly on the clothes. There are 5 washers ($ 1.75) and 7 dryers ($ 1.75). Two of the washers and two of the dryers are for light loads only. There were no activities except for a pot luck on Thanksgiving, and they didn’t post any notices about that. The only way I found out about it was when I went to the front desk to load money onto the card for the laundry. In the corner of the desk there was a sign-​up sheet. I asked about it, and was told «Oh, yeah. We’re going to have Thanksgiving dinner here in the activities room.» We’re not really happy with this park. Before we stay here again, we’ll check to see if there is a nicer one near here.

We have traveled all over the country and this is, by far, the worst place we’ve stayed. It looks like it would be wonderful… cement pads, etc. But don’t be fooled! All of the pads are so uneven that wheels have to be off the ground to get the coach level. The staff is the rudest we have run across in all of our travels. There is a huge lighted sign that flashes over the entire park, requiring extra window coverings to sleep. The sites are difficult to get in for 5^th wheels (but may be OK for coaches). The showers have only cold water. The hot tub is luke warm. The nearby roads are noisy. And it’s on the expensive side! But this would have had a slightly higher rating if the staff had not been so extremely rude. They really need to train their workcampers that they are there because of the customer, not the other way around.

Love this park ! We have stayed here twice. Both times were very enjoyable. The spaces are a nice size. The people who work here are friendly & helpful. Very clean, well organized & well maintained! Highly recommend

pretty much a spotless clean sterile rv ‘resort’. About as nice as you can find for a right off the hiway resting spot. Full facilities with exercise room, heated pool etc. We stayed here a week as a base to check out the area. There is a nice large casino across the hiway with shuttle service. Good buffets and bowling alley as well. Don’t try to win at video poker though — its impossible with their programming!
My only complaint is their wifi sucks — speed is ok but it drops all the time. They say there are going to upgrade in 2014. However I was able to get Verizon 4g. They also only wanted to give one wifi access per rv which is ridiculous. I got two coupons after much pleading. The managers are indian gals and not that friendly or accommodating.

This is a beautiful park, but a lot more unkempt than it has been in past years. The WiFi is terrible, and if you can connect, you only get a bar or two. There’s hardly any tv reception, and the picture is fuzzy. For the premium price I paid, I expect a lot more. I won’t be back,

First visit here and will stay again. Traveled here with our motorhome and the location is excellent to use as a base to explore this part of Arizona. Next door to Montezuma’s castle, close to Montezuma’s Well, Jerome, AZ, and Sedona. Most of the time we would drive to Cottonwood to eat as there are SEVERAL good restaurants in Cottonwood. This RV resort has easy access from HWY 17. Each site is good sized and almost all sites have full hookup’s. Each site pad for the RV is cement (although some RV’s were parked on the gravel portion of the site for some reason) but be aware that pad’s were not level. Also a big tip is to be careful as to which site you select. On one corner of the RV resort the Casino across the highway has a video bill board. Not a problem during the day but at night unless you like to have the effect of someone shining a bright light in your RV don’t take a site near the bill board. The RV resort staff was helpful and friendly. The restrooms were clean. The pool is very small and not much use. If you are looking for site trash can’s forget it. But, what the resort does (which was nice) was that during the day you place your trash in bag on your site and the staff collects the trash. If you are going to the Grand Canyon find a location closer to the Grand Canyon unless you like a very long drive to reach the Grand Canyon.

We always enjoy staying here. Very helpful and friendly people. Easy on and off the Interstate.

My husband and I are first time travel trailer campers for our Arizona trip. Distant Drums was our last resort we would be stopping by before our trip back to San Diego. The place was extremely well kept and clean. A bit of a senior based demographic but it made it extremely quiet and peaceful at night– which I love. The staff was friendly, we even pulled in at 9:30am and they still let us check in despite it being so early. Montezuma Castle is literally down the road which is definitely worth checking out, and the casino was always an option if my husband and I got bored-​which we didnt. Sedona is a quick 30 minute trip up and on the way back was the Animal Safari Park. Needless to say everything is very close. Maybe its an Arizona thing, but none of our campsites had firepits. Distant Drums have very open pull thrus and also they have deluxe back ins. We’d definitely come back if we were in the Arizona area again.

Would get much higher rating if their wifi was set up to work with more than one device and was actually fast. We can’t get any online work done here, which makes it so we wish we were parked elsewhere. Otherwise it’s a nice place to park… A bit of highway noise prevents us from leaving windows open at night when we’d rather be sleeping. Hot tub was a bonus… And I haven’t seen a single kid around, which means adults can actually enjoy the pool and hot tub!

SO we are on the road. First ever family road trip. We are on a whirlwind trip Starting from San Diego then on our way to the Grand Canyon, then Las Vegas. Once we lose our family fortune in Vegas we will be heading to Yosemite and then finally San Fransisco.
On our way to the Grand Canyon we figure we would stop at an RV Park somewhere along the way. I’m stoked we stumbled into this RV Resort… If you are ever heading to the Grand Canyon and you need a break, you must stop by here! This place rocks. We found them by searching on my iPhone when we were driving through Phoenix. The staff is extremely friendly and the park is amazing! It is so clean and Nice. The jacuzzi is huge and the pool is heated. They have free WiFi, Showers, a general store, shoot they even have a community computer free of charge if your laptop dies or something.
When we arrived it took me like 5 mins to set up our rig. The spaces are very nice. They have and extremely large level pads for your rig and a spot for a a car or two. They have power (20,30,50ampservice) water, sewage, cable TV (with a bunch of channels), and phone connection. The grounds are kept very well. The only thing i noticed was a little freeway noise while we were in the pool but it wasn’t a big deal.
All in all i recommend this place to the anyone who travels. As a side note I didn’t see a single tweaker in a 1962 dodge motor home anywhere in the park. :)
