Holiday Inn Express Washington Dc East-Andrews Afb

It’s a pretty standard Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast is always a nice touch. The lobby’s AC was out or something because it was stifling in there, I know they are doing a reno so maybe that’s why. I hope that’s fixed, even at 7am it was boiling in there.
They do have a shuttle that will take you to the metro stop. Keep in mind the this metro stop is sketchy as hell, not recommended for night travel at all. Take an über, you’ll thank me later.
It’s not in the best neighborhood so be aware of that, and there really isn’t anything around it in way of eating, etc. But, for a night it wasn’t bad, the beds were comfortable, staff was friendly and the breakfast wasn’t half bad.

The staffs are friendly and they have free delicious cinnamon rolls for breakfast. About $ 100 is not bad. Lemon water for breakfast is tasty.
The reasons why i gave 3 stars are… This building is pretty old. The king bed room is much smaller than other Holiday Inn Express. No fan in the bathroom. They don’t have enough tables and seats for breakfast. I went there around 9:30am. Packed with families. Many kids were running around. They don’t have tea. WI-​FI was super slow.
It is close to Air force base and a famous BBQ restaurant;)

My husband and I are platinum rewards members and we found this hotel on our route back from Boston to tampa on our honeymoon. I had called the hotel after reserving online to see if an upgrade was available and Lori answered the phone. I explained it was our honeymoon and that a jacuzzi tub would be great if it was available. She let me know it was and we were locked in for it. We were due to check in around 10 pm. Unfortunately our car broke down in New Jersey. After 3 hours of fixing our car in the cold we were spent and ready to just get to our room and call it a night.
What happened next made our week. Upon checking in the sweet woman behind the desk showed me that our reservation slip had a heart and the word newlyweds written on it. How sweet right? It gets better. Our room key folder had a little «I do» print out on it that was colored with pink highlighter. But what awaited these exaughsted travelers when we entered the room brought tears to my eyes. Lori had decorated our suite for us. There were cards in the bathroom and on our bed with wedding congratulations and warm wishes of love and happiness. On the tub there were two wine glasses and a bottle of sparkling cider and chocolates. To say she made it so we wanted to stay up and enjoy all the work she put in is an understatement. Thank you so much Lori and we will definitely be staying there again!

Very nice place to stay. Nothing to complain about… not perfect, but who is? We thoroughly enjoyed our three night visit. Shuttle was on time and comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly. General Manager visible, friendly and helpful. Free breakfast had large variety and was well stocked even just before it ended. I would suggest a «milk machine» for colder milk… not a complaint, just a suggestion.
Tip the maid!
No worries about location, Metro Police precinct right around the corner. Never once did my wife and I feel unsafe. Heard sirens at night, but not too many… and totally expected staying in any big city…

The actual rooms itself was clean but i found the staff to be unfriendly and the «complimentary shuttle» to the metro was always a hassle due to having to wait on the driver every single time. we even walked to the metro which is a 10 min walk but if you are planning to sight see down town 10 extra minutes makes you very irritated!!! We will stay somewhere closer to dc next time.

We thought it was a great hotel, awesome staff, great location, great value. You could stay in DC and get a lot less for more. Great shuttle service brought us to and from metro stop and National harbor. Great breakfasts too. Now if your the type who wants something and loves to complain about everything you need to go somewhere else

great experience!!! The staff was excellent. Room was very nice, clean, beautiful. The general manager (Melanie Myers), personally asked about our stay. I observe red her interacting with and helping staff members. Very impressive! Will definitely be back.

Poor conditions here… stay away! Mildew on wall, shower wall actually falling off, dirt in gaps in floor, dirty floor in hallway, musty smell. We left after the first night. I felt sorry for staff that had to deal with this. Also, I am suspicious of other reviews that sound so positive and say things like «go here!» — instead, stay away.

We stop by after a long night of driving. It’s not in the best area of dc which maybe explain the non expensive prices. It’s only about 15 minute away from the city also the hotel is right off the expressway. The staff was friendly and the room were clean and made me feel comfortable during my stay.

Stayed on a PointsBreak, so the price was right. Here’s the breakdown of the 3 star rating:
Pros:
— Excellent service. Everyone in the hotel is friendly, and willing to help. This goes a long ways, since you don’t always get this kind of service.
— Platinum Member benefit (you spin a wheel for a prize, including Priority Club reward points).
— Decent continental breakfast (the usual: pancake machine, yogourt, pastries, apples, bananas, toast, hard boiled eggs, sausage) that was constantly refilled so that there was no rush to get there as soon as it opened.
— Close enough to the Metro to walk (though a long walk), or take the free shuttle. You are at one end of the Green Line, and can easily get into the heart of DC within 25 minutes or so.
Negatives:
— Not in the best part of town. You are next to a few other hotels, and some car dealerships.
— Doors were thin. You will be able to hear your neighbors in the next room, or out in the halls.
— Bathroom shower in room (designed as a wheelchair accessible shower) was possibly the worst designed shower I (or my girlfriend) have ever used. There was no way to keep water from spilling onto the floor, creating a lake in the bathroom.
It’s an affordable option in a city that is not always the cheapest to lodge in. As the 3 star rating suggests, it’s not the worst, but it’s also not the best.

Go! If you find yourself in need of a hotel near DC, but don’t want to pay DC prices, this is a great compromise. Clean rooms and a very quick shuttle to a nearby metro station that takes you right into town. B’fast was free and hot. Staff was wonderfully helpful and put me at ease about where to hop on and off the metro for my travels. It’s fine, you’ll love it; go.

I’m wondering if I will ever find a Holiday Inn Express as impressive as the one in Ontario, CA. This Holiday Inn wasn’t terrible, but for the rates they charged, I expected a whole lot more. Here’s a quick run-​down:
Pros:
–Free and fairly plentiful breakfast
–Lots of parking outside and in back
–Fridge, microwave and coffee machine in the room
–Pool seemed OK, but didn’t have time to thoroughly check it out
Cons:
–Really hot and stuffy lobby and breakfast area
–Hard to keep the breakfast area stocked, especially when people take three servings at a time, so there was a wait at times
–We were put in a smoking room in the BASEMENT — don’t be fooled — the 1^st floor is actually the basement
–Room was rather damp, probably due to the fact we were half-​underground
