Clinton Cycles

I recently was looking to buy a new bike and visited Clinton Cycles to see what they had. I was interested in a Honda CB500X with ABS and asked for a quote. The salesperson quoted me full MSRP and added fees and taxes. When I asked if I could see what the individual fees were he told me that would be «illegal» (I’ve never heard a more ridiculous lie from a salesperson). All my further interactions with the salespeople were similar.
In general, they have a good selection of bikes and their pre-​owned stock is particularly extensive.

This place gives you the «WORST SERVICE EVER»! They put you on hold for the longest time, & when ordering apart good luck in trying to get it because they never tell you how long you really have to wait for it since it goes through a 3^rd party! I will NEVER deal with this so call shop ever again! Need to work on ppl skills as well as customer service!

I’ve only used this dealer for service so I can’t comment on sales or parts, but I’d stay away from their service department. Generally speaking, their service department suffers from a lack of professionalism. Each time I visit the service department, one of the techs usually has to get on the phone to track down the service manager/​writer, who apparently loves to be anywhere but in the service dept. Forget about reaching the service department by phone, and if you do manage to reach them by phone you can’t trust what they tell you. I dropped off my CRF250R for some minor service and when I called 5 days later I was told that the tech would get to it in a few minutes and that someone would call me within an hour or so. No one called and each time I called over the next two days I was given excuse after excuse why nothing had been done. It would appear that they are chronically understaffed and are constantly scrambling to stay afloat. Go elsewhere and save yourself the potential troubles.

This place is great for proximity, other than that not a huge a fan. There is a moderate quantity of accessories from boots to helmets and gloves.
There is a parts section which seems to be pretty well stocked.
there is a service department and i know few folks who use them even for winter storage.

I was in the market for a Triumph about 6 months ago and bought a Bonneville from Clinton. The process couldn’t have been smoother and Doug the sales guy was great. He has always remembered me when I came back for my 500 mile service or other random visits. The other employees are very knowledgable and love to talk bikes. Its fun to go to Clinton, where high pressure selling doesn’t exist, I’m always very comfortable no matter what my purpose for stopping by.

If I could give this place a 0 star I would, but in order to do a review I’ve gotta put something in. Parts staff didn’t know their foot from their @$$ and I couldn’t help but feel like I could potentially get swindled on the price of repairs. I’m not knocking the service, as I haven’t had my bike worked on there, but due to the retail experience and initial inquiry into repairs I never will.
The first time I walked into this shop was back In February of 2011 to get a quote for some parts on my Daytona due to damage accrued during a move. I don’t know who the guy was, nor do I remember names, but he said that he could not give me a quote unless he had the bike there in the shop due to liability. I could get the price on parts, but no solid estimate on labor, which is understandable, but if you’ve been working on bikes for a while you should have a good idea as to how long putting on a cockpit fairing would take, plus shops that I’ve gone to in past experience would hold a bike for a few days to a week with labor taking only about 1 – 3 hrs. Changing the cockpit fairing would take two hrs, tops. You want to pad the budget? Add an extra hour, if it’s less than the insurance co pays out less in the end or you take some extra money and how in the hell was I supposed to transport my bike in the dead of winter? Well, they would, of course, for a fee.
Unfortunately, this was the closest Triumph shop in the area, and although I could’ve gone elsewhere for the quote, the better shops were far away and couldn’t do much for me over the phone. Eventually, I found someone at Clinton that would give me an actual quote while the short guy with the Napoleon complex wasn’t around. That’s where this place gets the star.
The second time I came in was with a buddy who was interested in getting a bike. After spending 20 min’s trying to get someones attention we didn’t get any customer service. As I own a Daytona I had my buddy go ahead and get on the bike and I tried to sell him the bike. Still, no customer service.
My last visit, and let me emphasize LAST, involved the guy in parts trying to tell me that the battery with a corroded negative charge was brand new even though it had stains along the side of it and the bottom of it looked dusty as if sitting in the battery housing on a bike, but I was told it was just the debris from the box it was in… right. Nonetheless, I had him get me another battery. I purchased the battery and went on my merry way only to find it was the wrong battery. I should’ve known better than to trust the guy at parts and just pulled the number on the battery myself. I wasn’t going to be able to make it back the same day so I let someone know of the dilemma and they told me to come in for a replacement. I came in the next day to find they didn’t have the battery and had to order it, but I wanted it now so I requested a refund, which is against their written policy. Policy being what it is, they gave me the wrong product with no immediate replacement available. The guy in parts patronized and told the cashier to give me a refund. Then someone came out of their office to tell me I could only get store credit. After explaining the scenario she told me, «Well, then we’re going to charge you a restocking fee,» to which I refused to accept. She pointed to her policy and explained they would do it because of the fee the transaction company charges for returns. «It’s not my fault your company sold me the wrong battery and it’s wrong of you to charge me the fee that your organization pays to that company. I’m not liable for what they charge you.» In a nutshell I refused to take anything less than a full refund. After a few minutes in the back she came out to tell me the chart was wrong, not them and I will get a full refund.
I’ve actually been to this place multiple times and the customer service all around was bad. Their parts don’t know… well, parts, their sales staff didn’t even approach you when you were looking at bikes, and I never got any follow up on purchasing a Daytona 675R. Take your business elsewhere if you’re thinking about parts or a bike here. I wish I were in California where I had Monroe Motors in San Francisco, or back in Manhattan, Kansas where I always got help from the staff and owner at Motorcycle Supply.

Don’t try and call. I was on hold for over 30 min before I gave up. The parts department had the parts that I needed. The staff checked against my Vin number to assure the parts match. The store front is very street rider centric. Not many jacket choices but they have many sizes of the jackets. I never used there new or used sales. Over all I’m happy stoping here for what I don’t want to wait to order online

Only Triumph dealer in area and LOVE MY BIKE!
Bought a 2008 Triumph Sprint ST ABS and the purchase experience was much better than my purchase and subsequent return of bike to Coleman PowerSports.
However, considering it was a cash purchase it took too long. I purchased my Chev. Avalanche and was in and out in 2.5 hrs with the truck and for the motorcycle it took nearly 4 hrs to close with no negotiating and had to wait for delivery until next day.
The Parts dept is not very friendly or helpful and twice has given me wrong information/​prices or said they were unsure.
I went to buy an accessory with a 20% birthday coupon they gave me and found that the price on the product was jacked up 20% over MSRP so final price was MSRP. Got same product on line with free shipping for 15% below MSRP.
