If I could have awarded zero stars I would have. Jana Ellerman is a poor choice if you are looking for an effective attorney, especially at an hourly rate of $ 350!!! The opposing attorney charged $ 250. Aside from rolling over like a kitty for the opposing side she has a tendency to «fudge» her billing. Jana Ellerman literally surrendered my children’s inheritance to the opposing party putting up no defense whatsoever. She billed me for a letter she wrote and didn’t send, then pulled it out and tried to bill me later for composing a «new» letter when she merely rearranged the original letter. On a separate incident, she sat on a response to the opposing side for 5 weeks causing the opposing side to have to contact me directly! She had been paid with monies in her trust account, lest it be claimed that lack of funds was the reason. When I diplomatically raised my concerns with Ms. Ellerman regarding her less than honest behavior she, with only a couple of weeks to finish the matter, decided to quit the case. Yes, she still had my money in her bank account! She drug her feet in reconciling the matter. Bottom line, my children were to receive one quarter each of the estate. At the end of the day she allowed the opposing party to come in and have loans repaid in the form of assets prior to fairly dividing the assets to the heirs without any such stipulation in the trust whatever for any such repayment. Jana Ellerman is dishonest, sloppy, careless and if you want to waste time, money and an infinite amount of patience she is the gal for you; if not, hire almost anyone else or do it yourself.
As a side note, I find it interesting that the previous reviewer stated they were charged $ 250/​hr and I was charged $ 350/​hr from April 2013-​February 2014. Is it possible she lowered her rates by $ 100? A question begging to be answered no doubt!

Jana Ellerman does not do what is in the best interest of her minor clients, many with special needs. She goes against their wishes, and the wishes of their family. On several occasions she did what was NOT in the best interest of the children, but what would create the most billing for herself, as she charges $ 250 hr. She relays information to the judge with regard to arrest records and criminal history, incorrectly, bringing up an event that was 2 years prior than what she said it was in court, and it was unaffiliated with the case. On one occasion she wore a pair of slacks to court approximately 6 inches too long that covered her feet and caused her to appear clumsy and unprofessional.

Jana Ellerman handled my trust and was very professional and reasonably priced. Everything went smoothy and I would recommend this firm for their professionalism and competence.
