Tried to visit today and learned that the Unilocal hours are not accurate. Hours listed here said it was open but apparently the store is closed on Sunday’s. Frustrating.

My Wife and I are visiting Camden from Tennessee and wanted to get a mocha… We had passed by the shop earlier in the day, so we decided to give them a try. WOW! I’m so glad we did. I’ve had too many mochas to count in my 33 years on this earth, and this was easily, hands down, the best I’ve ever had. To top it all off, the owners were as friendly as it gets, and had a beautiful, clean, store. We will be back.

Amazing pour overs. The barista(owner?) really took his time with every order. The level of attention to detail was very high and that shone through in the quality of the cup. You could tell he loved what he was doing. Bravo! We need more people like this!

Loving the selection of children’s books by maine authors. Also had lots of interesting stuff on display — not just the typical best sellers. Small store but well curated so that you are certain to discover something new and interesting. Good coffee too… Iced coffee is cold brewed.

A legitimate coffee shop tucked inside a cute and cozy bookstore… What more could you ask for? The proprietor knows his stuff and is clearly passionate about his product. The environment is perfect fit chilling out and enjoying a cuppa and a good book. They offer pour over, french press, and a full range of espresso drinks. The beans are local roasted with a choice of both single origin and blends. A great spot!

Best coffee in mid-coast Maine. The coffee shop is small and cozy and, of course, in a bookstore, which is automatic bonus points. Serves a locally roasted bean, Coffee on the Porch. Regular coffee is limited to either a pour over brew or French press, which to my mind is a good thing. There’s little sadder than old coffee that’s been slowly dying on a burner or served lukewarm from a thermos.

Its a REAL bookstore. The owners know the books, the authors, and make excellent recommendations, and they serve really good coffee! Books for your vacation, books on Maine, books on the sea, beach reads, long reads, quick reads. Its the real deal, the kind of bookstore you rarely find nowadays.

Excellent cup of coffee! Walked into the bookstore and café just looking for a «regular» cup of coffee and quickly found that they did not have any… what they did have was a great cup of pour-over really fresh coffee! The barista(and owner) was very knowledgeable and passionate about his coffee and was fun to talk with. Our coffee was so good we returned the next morning for another before leaving town. We will be back next summer.

We were on our way back home from Bar Harbor and wanted to check out Camden. Great find! Nice selection and good coffee. You should check this out if you are nearby.

A great break from the Summer hear for the kids and adults. Excellent selection of children books and especially the Local Authors section. Many of the local books were signed by the author. Café has reasonable prices and delicious espresso. If you are looking for a nice break from gift shops this is the place!

My wife and I sat in the café for a couple hours reading and catching up on a few online chores. Great little shop. Comfortable atmosphere. Could have spent all day there.

Charming little place. Perfect for a cuppa and a read. Staff were friendly and latte was tasty. Selection is on the sparser side — don’t expect Barnes and Noble stacks. However, their children’s section was well stocked and cute as a bug’s ear. They also have good wifi and magazines were quite nice.

The people in Own & Turtle seemed friendly, but I could find no order to the collection of books in the store. It was fun to look around and I hope it comes together. I’m sure that if I had a question or was looking for a particular book, they would be able to help. But I like to browse and explore and I thought this was a difficult store in which to do that effectively. Quick edit(6÷4÷14): I appreciate the owner comment and look forward to returning to the Owl & Turtle on my next trip to Camden. I can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the place!

Fantastic little shop! New owners are so interested and caring about their customers! Can’t wait for the new coffe bar to open. Already visited twice in a week. They ordered books for me and were there in 2 days. Great children’s section and also a small selection of gently used books as well. One of my new favorite spots!

The Owl & Turtle was once a fine bookstore, carrying not only a large selection of nautical titles but a complete catalog of nautical charts of the area. The store moved from Bay View to Mechanic Street and lost some of the charm(and ties to the sea). It was still an inviting store, but smaller, and it seemed fewer works by Maine and local authors. Now it has moved to an even smaller space on Bay View with far fewer titles and less of a connection to the local area(and the sea). Sherman’s, on Main Street, is certainly a better bet for a good book store in Camden.

Really great local bookstore, now in a new location(but it’s been in Camden for years). They have an especially noteworthy selection of Maine cookbooks and nautical books. They also have a small used book section with some good deals. It’s definitely not a huge bookstore, but very cozy and welcoming. Definitely stop in, you will enjoy.

A locally owned bookstore, Owl & Turtle carries a generous selection of new books in a variety of categories, focusing appropriately on Maine and nautical topics. The wood interior gives it a warmth, but the owners have created wide aisles and added lots of chairs for the convenience of customers. The store has a great choice of local authors including some signed books by one of the locals, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Richard Russo. A good history section and general fiction, too, and you can also pick up some of the latest magazines and newspapers. The store hosts regular visits and signings by authors and seems to play a vital role in this community’s literary life. We like that a lot. And we like the fact that it has some free doggie treats for any four-legged friends who happen to wander in with their masters.
