Cafe Salad Works

Salad is standard. Smoothie a must. Very nice people. I want one of those tshirts they display. I think this place is called Camden Fruit & Vegetables.

anyone who is actually scared to walk to lunch here is a serious wuss. it’s in the middle of downtown camden between the crappy tourist-​filled waterfront and the police and fire stations. jeez. if you’re scared to walk here, i guess you must be a total idiot. and you must have never been to actual camden, which is also totally safe if you’re not a scaredy cat white person.
anyway, that being said… This is a lovely lunch spot with healthy made-​to-​order salads. theyre not like mind-​blowing or gourmet… but theyre fresh and healthy. very good alternative to bodega-​made processed chicken hoagies that are readily available in Camden.
the people who own the restaurant are really nice and friendly. i really like going here!

I think this is the place that is actually on Market Street in Camden, just past the train tracks.
I come here for takeout sometimes on my lunch break, now that I work in Camden. It’s not bad for a quick lunch, seems clean on the inside and I feel relatively (for Camden) safe on the way over. I wouldn’t walk too far beyond it, or in the other direction.
UPDATE: I read the comment below and feel compelled to clarify the safety comments. Seriously people, this is not a joke. Camden is not a safe place to be. Not wanting to walk around there by yourself does not make you a «total idiot» or a «scaredy cat white person.» I never felt unsafe inside this restaurant, or next to the police station, but there is more to consider than that. There is a methadone clinic right on the corner, and it is not too far from the transportation center which is one of the most dangerous spots in the city. I have known many people in law enforcement, IN CAMDEN. Being vigilant is important when walking around any area in the city, including the Rutgers campus. There is nothing touristy about this area when there is no concert or baseball game happening, even during normal business hours. That area is desolate I have nothing against Camden, but some common sense is needed here. Enjoy some of their decent dining options but be safe.
