I was in town and looking for a place near my hotel to get my nails done. I did a little research on Unilocal and found Super Nails. The people there were so nice and there were also some regulars who also made us feel very welcomed. If i travel back to Boston I will go there again!

Finally, a nail place in Cambridge I like! It’s been hard to find. I live right nearby but have avoided this place because I didn’t think a small shop on Cambridge Street in East Cambridge would actually be any good. I was wrong. I got a manicure and pedicure here two weeks ago. I JUST yesterday took off the polish, and I barely needed to do anything to my nails before repolishing myself. The manicure was excellent. The guy did a great job, the shape and polish looked nice, and it lasted and lasted and lasted. The pedicure was just okay; the woman didn’t do quite as good a job, but still acceptable. I was the only one in the place when I went, and they even stayed late(10 min past closing) to let me dry; they didn’t rush me out at all, which I really appreciated. I will happily come back for a manicure, and will come back for a pedicure as well because I haven’t found anywhere better. Maybe the manicure guy does toes???

After a week in the Carribbean sun(jealous? thought so.), i was in serious need of a pedicure to clean up my matte, chipped nails. With a few more days of vacay left, a manicure seemed in order as well. Gorgeous nails, my go-to spot when I’m stuck visiting a salon close to home on Cambridge Street, claimed they were too busy to squeeze me in for a walk-in, so I stormed out and found myself at the door of Super Nails. Good thing I packed cash, since they don’t accept plastic or any other sort of paper. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had my favorite color available, and settled in for a no-wait manicure while I waited on the pedicure. Both services were pleasant and thorough enough– speed was the name of the game here, but I didn’t mind the efficiency. Complaints would be I’m not sure the UV lights on the foot driers still work and there is no discount for a combo mani-pedi(37 for two services that took under an hour is somewhat steep).

I called up Super Nails and asked why the pedicure was $ 25 the last time I went, and the lady said they raised the price to $ 25 since Feb ’09. So I wasn’t getting ripped off afterall. Both times I’ve been there there’s only been one lady and she’s efficient and friendly and did a good job with my pedi. The place is clean too. I would go back again.

THISWASTHEPLACE I’VEBEENLOOKINGFOR. A cheap and awesome nail salon. Forget paying $ 40 for a pedicure, this place only charges $ 20 and they do a great job. Down where I’m from in RI, $ 30 – 35 for a mani-pedi combo seemed standard but up here, it’s almost non-existent. Not only are these guys cheap but they’re very quick. I had both done in like maybe 45 minutes.(including drying) Both have held up pretty well too. Definitely going back!

I’m pretty sure 75% of East Cambridge’s revenue comes from acrylic nails. With a salon on both sides of almost every block, I imagine it would be taxing to try and settle on one. A good rule of thumb is to base your judgment on the intricacy of their mirror-airbrushing scenes(Super Nails has tropical vistas!). A second rule around the way is Gorgeous Nails for eyebrows, Super Nails for everything else. The gals in my family have been going here since they opened! Mostly I like them because they are really nice to my Mom and my Nana. And they have every other place beat x 100 on the cleanliness tip.

I went here last week after reading the Unilocal reviews and I was very very disappointed. All I wanted was a nice pedicure to start off the summer… I got there a little earlier than my appointment time and the first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the smell of all the chemicals. They didn’t even have an exhaust fan. Is this healthy? I’m not too sure. My mom had also accompanied me, so, we got an appointment for her as well. The lady who did my pedicure was really nice, but, incompetent. I’m not sure if they even washed the tub from the lady before… eek! Also, their pedicure chairs face the street, so, if you are wearing a skirt, ladies, all your underthings are quite visible to all the people walking down the street. OK, getting back to the pedicure, she an OK job of scrubbing my feet and even asked me what length I wanted on my toe nails. And then she started painting the toe nails. And, guess what, she painted over my cuticles. SERIOUSLY!!! And, now its peeling near those cuticles… The color is OK. I was hoping for a little darker color, but, they didn’t have it. The only saving grace for the place was that the lady was very nice and friendly. My mom’s pedicure was also OK. No great shakes. And, they don’t accept credit cards. I guess my quest for that perfect pedicure place continues.

It’s a small shop with 2 pedicure chairs(only one was in use the day I went) so it feels a little crowded when you walk in. I was very happy with my $ 20 pedi and the woman who did it made my feet look great! Super Nails doesn’t get 5 stars because they didn’t take me until 20 minutes after my 12:30pm appt. that I had booked the day before.

I am super happy that I listened to Amy’s suggestion and tried out super nails. I am extremely satisfied with the service, flat screen TV showing movies, magazine selection, and the finish on my $ 20 pedicure. I was able to make an appointment on the same day as someone promptly answered the phone. One thing to note, though, is that they do not accept credit cards.

I agree. I only went here once, but after another salon(which shall remain nameless since they do my eyebrows wonderfully!) botched my nails the day before my wedding, i ran into this salon for a redo. My mom and my mother-in-law had already been here earlier in the day so i knew they could fix my nails. With only 1 hour left until closing, they did a wonderful job and calmed a nervous bride with a french manicure for only $ 15! And my mom liked it so much that she went back the next time she was in town. I will definately go here again!
