There’s always a crowd of jovial folks outside Luigi’s. It’s one of the happier street corners in East Cambridge. There’s a very nice traffic cop who is here on school days and she seems to put a smile on everyone’s face. Nothing wrong with that. She makes sure you cross the street safely and always asks how things are in your world. Inside Luigi’s you can find anything you need when you can’t face the sterile, impersonal vibe at Shaw’s three blocks away. It’s packed with items and usually packed with people buying scratch tickets, gossiping, looking at magazines, picking up a Red Bull or taking a few moments to tie their kid’s shoes and brush their hair. There are three chairs lined up side by side facing the street, taking up a decent amount of space in this tiny store, yet they serve an important purpose. Many folks in the neighborhood sit down to bide some time with one another, side by side, just watching the world go by. It’s like one big happy family in here and a favorite with the scratch ticket crew. This place is never empty.

magically, luigi’s has everything you need when you are too lazy to go to the supermarket. its perfect for when, on a saturday morning, you forgot you needed to buy milk for your lucky charms. it’s cheap and has a crapload of stuff packed into a small store! it’s always great people watching, especially because of the old people playing keno and loitering around. you get no judgement if you buy just ketchup, bread, and a lottery card. no weird faces or questions. i actually once got sour milk here by accident, but i didn’t bring it back because i was too lazy and it was only $ 2.00. all in all, luigi’s is super convenient and super close. super 5!

Small but conveniently located, this corner mart has a decent selection of beverages and stocks other things you might need like cat food and litter.
