Specialties

Does your dog LOVE the woods, but you just don’t have the time or the energy to take them as often or as long as they would like? Do they enjoy playing with, or even simply being around other dogs? Are they high energy, or would you just like to give them the chance to get out of the house during the day? If you’ve been thinking about dog daycare or traditional dog walking, Intrepid Tails is a more personalized alternative.

We will pick up your dog during the day, take them on a 90 minute hike with a small social group of dogs, and then bring them home! They can get some exercise and enjoy playtime with no hassle whatsoever to you!

We also offer dog sitting! If you are going away and cannot take your dog with you, we’re happy to stay at your place with them and take care of things while you’re gone!

History

Established in 2014.

Intrepid Tails was inspired by an enduring love for hiking, adventure, the kind of companionship that can only be found in dogs, and a thorough appreciation for the bonds that form between dogs who walk together. Claire, the company founder, was working in dog daycare when she adopted a 2 ½ year old Rottweiler named Bayna who had never once met another dog. Needing much slower introduction at first than a busy and crowded dog daycare could provide, Claire began the task of socializing her new four-legged fuzz-child by taking her on long hikes with other patient, well-socialized dogs. It worked so well and they loved hiking so much, they decided never again could they bear to work indoors. Now every day their work is their play. No stress, just fun, happy, contentedly tired dogs at the end of every day.

Business Owner

Claire has 2 years of professional dog daycare experience, but has owned and worked informally with dogs for about 5 years, and has traveled the country studying the relationships between homeless travelers and their dogs. She rescued, rehabbed, and re-homed a puppy found wandering in the woods during her travels, and spends large portions of her spare time which is not already spent working with her own dog, learning as much as she can about dogs. Some say she’s part dog herself ;)
