Specialties
El Jefe’s Taqueria brings authentic Mexicano street food back to Harvard Square. Taking inspiration from his hometown street vendors, El Jefe transports his hungry customers south of the border with tacos and burritos assembled to the order on the open cook line. Customers choose the heat at the Picante Station featuring hot sauce from across the country and around the globe. El Jefe offers you an invitation to forget what you know and come with him, to his home away from México, in Harvard Square.
History
Established in 2015.
El Jefe is a simple man who believes in simple pricing and putting quality first. Only the best meats and seafood make the cut. Every morning at the break of dawn El Jefe heads down to the local produce market to buy the freshest vegetables for his taquería. Everything is made in house and the only thing that comes in a jar are the 50 different picante sauces — El Jefe believes in bringing the heat to your tastebuds.
El Jefe is also an honorable man and believes in ‘freeing the guac’… and the roasted veggies, and plantains and queso — all of the adiciones — that means extras are never extra. Come in and try one of our shrimp, fish, chicken or steak burritos (load it up with all the extras) for only $ 6.99, period.
El Jefe is bringing authentic Mexican to Harvard Square. Come for breakfast, stay for dinner, El Jefe’s is open 8 am ’til 4 am 7 days a week!
