Ladies who work there are RUDE, then if you ask too many questions, they giggle and talk about you in Spanish. Yuck. Food tastes like it was cooked with Mrs. Dash or some other salt substitute. Gross. BEWARE! ALL food here is PRICED per OUNCE, NOTPERPOUND. BECAREFUL on that salad bar and hot food bar! Do you realize how little food an OUNCE is? At .48cents per OUNCE? Can you say sticker shock at the register?!

I love having Damon’s nearby. The food is pretty good and is always fresh. They have a section of hot food which varies everyday(corned beef, mac and cheese, salmon, meatballs, tacos), sandwich bar, soups, fruit bar, frozen yogurt and the salad bar stocked with fresh and healthy ingredients(plus potato salad). There is also a large fridge with drinks and plenty of sweets and chips on the counter. Only gripe is that the hot food can be salty and a salad, hot food and drink can get expensive. Don’t forget breakfast– eggs, toast, bacon, sausage, cereal.

I go to this place every single morning on my way to work to construct my delicious ½ pound o’ fruit salad.(Seriously, I am probably solely responsible for depleting the grape and watermelon supply in Cambridge.) The same guy rings me up every single morning and barely acknowledges me, but that’s ok. The fruit always looks fresh and juicy and I’m always in and out quickly, which is just what I need in my perpetual lateness in the mornings. They do accept credit cards which is also good when I am already in line sometimes before I realize I am out of cash.

Not a review of me, but of Damon’s, the salad/sandwich/soup/frozen yogurt bar tucked into the MIT food court. Well actually, maybe it is a review of me since I’m the creative force behind the construction of my meal when it involves tonging food into plastic containers Salad bars creep me out a little(all those hands touching things). OCD aside, Damon’s feels clean and has a variety of fresh, healthy ingredients. The salad was not bad. I should have been more liberal with the cukes and used a richer dressing. The enjoyment of my sandwich ebbed and flowed as more layers came together at the center but tapered off again in the waning bites. Apparently, I need to spread sandwich ingredients more evenly. When presented with a plethora of prepared, buffet items, I make a decent salad and an uneven sandwich. Lessons were learned. The next time at Damon’s the sandwich errors will be corrected.

salad bar, hot food bar, sandwich bar — nothing to write home about. nestled in the land of nerds and dorks sits my afternoon respite from the gruel of being a code monkey. now that it’s gotten nice out, a day isn’t a day without some old world chocolate fro-yo. and that’s why this place gets the stars. as much or as little fro-yo as you can consume — w/fixins you can pile on yourself. until tomorrow, damon’s. until tomorrow.
