The above-listed 6:00 Monday class at Camb Health Assoc is for experienced yoga students. The 6:15 Tuesday class is slower-paced, suitable for beginners and anyone wishing for a gentler approach. The most gentle class is on Thursdays 11:00 — 12:00 at Art & Soul Yoga, 91 Hampshire St, Cambridge.
Yoga classes focus on stretching, strengthening, balancing, releasing stress, and finding joy.
Classes are taught in Kripalu style with lyengar and many other influences. There is a different focus each week to help students improve in their practice, learn new skills, and more. Sometimes we focus on a commonly tight body part like the shoulders, lower back, or hips; other times we focus on a theme like better posture, relaxation, bolstering the immune system, or yoga for runners.
In the fall and spring we offer classes to ease seasonal allergies and at the holidays classes to build stamina and lower stress levels to keep you going through the busy season.
Taught with humor, creativity, kindness, and lots of experience, classes are fun and personal. Small class sizes allow us to focus on each individual student. You will come away with increased strength, balance, flexibility, and a sense of well-being. All props are provided.
We also teach private yoga classes at any level. Consider us for a lunchtime yoga session at your company!
Drop in any time or call/text for class information, rates, or to book a private class.
History
Established in 1996.
I began teaching at Cambridge Health Associates in 1996 along with two other teachers (one of them my own teacher of 10 years, Danielle Levi Alvares). Over time, those two moved away and I became the sole yoga teacher there. I have a group of wonderful students, and classes have a special feel about them — friendly, serious yet fun, ever-growing. In addition, I teach at companies and have a thriving private yoga class business.

Business Owner
I have been a yoga teacher for 21 years, and have practiced for 31. I teach in the Kripalu style with strong Iyengar influences.
In 1986 I began taking yoga with Danielle Levi Alvares; eventually she trained me to become a yoga teacher and then hired me to teach with her. After a dozen years of teaching, I embarked on an advanced teacher training, studying under the nationally renowned Barbara Benagh, and earned «The Art of Teaching» degree in 2011.
That same year, I began Silver Age Yoga training, which focuses on modifying yoga poses for seniors or anyone with an injury, or who might need a more gentle approach, as well as Chair Yoga. I earned that certificate in 2012, and teach at several senior residences and programs. But most of my classes are in studios, companies and for private students.
