This is a great lighting store in my neighborhood. The knowledge and friendliness of the proprietor is unsurpassed — I have been in twice for lighting related questions and both times he was very helpful. This past weekend he shared everything he knew about antique reproduction bulbs — unfortunately he didn’t have any to sell to me, or I would have bought them here.

I second the recommendation for City Lights. His lights are expensive, but if you are looking for period lighting, this is THE place to go. Chris(the owner/restorer) is super nice, extremely knowledgeable and is fantastic to work with. We wanted a few authentic lights for our home and Chris came over, had a look around, and talked with us about what we were looking for. He then returned the next time with several lights — almost all of which, we loved. He really knows his stuff, as the pieces did not look alike at all, but had certain design elements that were similar, so they all looked right together. He also was full of great advice — for example, we couldn’t afford to outfit the whole house in antiques, so he suggested having period lights in more common spaces(ie. the kitchen, entryway, dining room) so you’d get to see them/appreciate them more than if they were in rooms you seldom used.

Damn… this guy has NICE antique lights, and he’s super nice and helpful. His lights are really expensive, I’ll warn you, but lights are unless you buy them are Target. If you are looking for beautiful antique lamps, this is the place.
