I was visiting in Cambridge and needed a trim, so I went into Capriccio’s and got a terrific haircut. I would highly recommend this place. If you call ahead to make an appointment don’t be put off by the owners’ speech impediment. He is difficult to understand on the phone, but not in person. I will always go back there when I am visiting.

I ventured out to Capriccio today on the advice of a friend who’d just gotten her hair cut here. The salon is a short walk from the Davis Square T, and advertises ‘unisex’ hair cuts. The inside is your basic hairdresser setup, but the real reason why this place is special is due to the owner/hairdresser, an older gentleman from Italy who is fantastic at cutting curly hair! I am always super cautious with new hairdressers, since I’ve had some bad experiences with people who just don’t know how to handle curly hair. But this guy was great. He washed my hair and the advice started flowing. Usually I don’t really like chatting away with hairdressers, but it was very easy to talk. He even apologized that it was taking so long, but explained that it takes longer to cut curly hair properly.(It took under an hour to get my hair cut and dried). The final verdict– a great cut, for a mere $ 45. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that the salon is cash only. Otherwise, if you are looking for a good haircut with no frills, check this place out!
