The shaved ice is a nice treat — something different — to have once in a while. The kids love it. Haven’t tried the food. Service is not that great.

The customer service and quality of food is a joke It’s pretty ridiculous to charge 5.50 for a spam musubi. I should’ve known better walking in at 6:30 pm and there’s no one eating here

I wanted to like this place, but I was not impressed. The service was slow. Our food was so/so. The woman who worked there was very nice and bubbly. The chair I sat in was about to fall apart.

Their shaved ice was stellar… My kids took me there for this treat and it was truly awesome. The place is pretty simple, but don’t judge a book by its cover.

The shave ice is great. The place needs a lot of work indoors. It is super run down looking. Food takes forever to get and it’s not very good in general. Mac salad needs a ton of work.

Went back today and got shave ice, the price is actually $ 4, not $ 4.99. We also ordered some fries and I was quite pleased with them. They were very hot, which personally, I think is the best way fries can be. Overall, was good again!

Restaurant closes at 8. Been turned away for this reason, as well as wait 3 times. Shop can get busy, but it is also painfully understaffed. This could be done really well with some changes, product is good but pricing and quantities are off. I want to see this work but it’s not quite there. I’ll come in if I’m one of the only customers because staff cannot handle doing too much at once.

Came in today for shaved ice with the kids. Asked about the chicken plate but then ordered a spicy burger. Ordered some shaved ice for the kids and then took my seat. 15 minutes pass and I see people after me getting their shaved ice. Walk up to the counter to at least get that while the food is still being prepared. 10 more minutes pass by and finally after asking again they bring the food in a Styrofoam box and tell me that it is cooked fresh. What they actually gave me was a chicken sandwich. So I go ask them if the spicy burger is made out of chicken and they say yes. The guy behind the counter which was older and I assume possibly the owner tells me that the girl told me that when I ordered it. I am a bit flustered at this point because at no time did I ever hear that. I go back to eat this spicy burger«chicken sandwich» and it’s not spicy at all. Like literally they just gave me a chicken sandwich and called it a spicy burger. I take my tray up there and tell them I’m not happy with it and in a rude tone the guy behind the counter shrugs and says, «Sorry.» That was it. He didn’t offer to remake it or refund the price of the sandwich(which cost close to $ 10). I just walked out and will never be coming back here again.

So I have been twice and the food is just OK… Probably 3.5 stars, maybe 4 if it was nicely plated instead of being thrown into Styrofoam containers with plastic utensils… They have large portions and are reasonably priced. The atmosphere is alright… Some surf boards placed around the large space and a few other sort of random decorations. The lighting is really poor and there is a lot of empty space that seems like could be used better. I really would rather not use Styrofoam when I’m eating in… It’s bad enough for takeout, but is really wasteful and unappealing when dining in. There is no menu and you order from a board at the register when you come in. There is no description of the dishes and the woman at the register only half knew how to describe the ones we asked about. So you pay and then sit down and the WAIT begins! The reason for the two stars is the WAIT!!! And wait, and wait some more. The first time I went was about 2 in the afternoon and I figured maybe they were recovering from a lunchtime rush or something, so I decided I would give them another shot. The second time I brought my wife and daughter and we sat for about 15 minutes before my wife asked me what could possibly be taking so long. We ordered huli huli chicken and kalua pork. The pork was on top of white rice and the huli came with a small glob of rice and an equally small glob of macaroni salad. All of these items are obviously already cooked /prepared… So what could possibly take so long? They certainly weren’t washing the dishes or utensils??? There didn’t really appear to be anyone else waiting for food… Mostly teenagers ordering shave ice. The severs bringing out the ices never once looked our direction or apologized about the long wait! After about 25 minutes my wife suggested they may have forgotten us, but I remembered my first experience and said I think they just really aren’t in ANY hurry to get food out to the table. She got up and asked for a refill on ice water. After at least 35 minutes, someone finally brought out our Styrofoam containers and plastic utensils, neatly wrapped in a napkin. And without any mention or apology for the extremely long wait, went back to whatever they do in the kitchen. We decided to take our food home since we didn’t feel like sitting in the restaurant any longer and it was already packaged up in to-go containers. Like I said, the food was just Ok, and the atmosphere could definitely be better… Maybe add a pool table or games to occupy you while you wait? There’s plenty of space! I would definitely call ahead if I was going to go again and just get it to go. If they had beer on tap and games or live music and served food on real dishes without such a long wait, this could be a really nice place to hang out in Washougal, but as it is, I’m afraid we probably won’t be back.

Stopped in to finally check this place out yesterday. Here are my initial thoughts: Pros: portion size, cleanliness, friendly staff, spicy chicken was properly spicy:), kalua pig was nice and smokey. Basically, it’s everything I could want out of a locally owned establishment. Cons: the mac salad:( I potentially would have given this place 2 stars for the sketchy mac, but the generous portion of spicy chicken(and I mean SPICY:) was indeed a redeeming factor. We will be back!

I’ll admit that I came in because I didn’t realize that Twilight Pizza had moved away. Tired and hangry, Unilocal suggested Local Girls as a solution. Nearby Hawaiian food? Done and done! Walked in around 7pm and pondered the menu. The young man at the ordering station was friendly and helped make our orders. Two lunch plates: one with medium-rare beef and huli huli chicken, another with pork ribs. «Everything is cooked fresh!» he promised us. «Have a seat and we’ll bring it to you!» We headed across the empty dance floor(truly, was it a dance floor? Why so much open space??) over to the empty tables. First one we sat at was wet and sticky, so moved to a cleaner one. And we waited. And waited. It was a good 20 – 25 minutes? Now I’m fine with waiting for and paying for good food. But already I knew it wasn’t going to be a «decent place to grab a quick bite,» as mentioned by another Unilocaler. Our styrofoam boxes were brought out by who I’m guessing was the man in charge of the shop. He set them on our table, and then said, «I think I forgot the ribs. Be right back,» and walked back to the kitchen. We open the boxes, and sure enough, a scoop of rice and mac salad in each, one with grilled meats, one with a big empty section. Fine, we said, and started in on what we did have. What did we have? Mushy rice(I’m Japanese. I like sticky rice, but this was gluey) and mac salad with sugar? What on earth? I’m fine with maybe a little bit of sugar to balance out the taste, but this tasted like dessert. It was painfully sweet. The BF’s meat was slightly better, but not by much. Huli huli chicken was well-grilled, tasty sauce and not dried out. But the med-rare beef? That was completely cooked through, not a shred of pink left. That wouldn’t have been a deal-killer, but gristle! And fat! And so much of both! I don’t think a single piece of the beef was without chunks of both. Disappointing. So a good 10 – 15 has passed since I didn’t get my ribs. The one table after us did get their water and was wondering aloud where their food was as well. I hope my missed order of ribs wasn’t delaying theirs, but it’s hardly my fault. Pork ribs finally came in a smaller styro box and a nice-sized order at that. We ate a few(edible, but unremarkable), but at that point BF was done with his meal, and I was over it. Dropped the two larger boxes in the trash and left. Probably won’t be back.

We recently moved in around the corner from Local Girls and finally got around to trying it. Having had plate lunches in Hawaii and loving the other Hawaiian restaurants in the area, my husband and I were excited to have something nearby. Pros: — Kalua Pig: my husband had this and really enjoyed it, especially the sauce — Spam musubi: hard to mess this up! — Portions: as with most plate lunches, you get a lot of food Cons: — Wait time: went inside to order for takeout where there was one table seated(4-top). Be warned that 10 minutes actually means 30. — Rice: something in the texture was just a little off — Loco Moco: where do I start? The burger patties were underseasoned, and the«gravy» was NOT gravy(it couldn’t even be called a pan sauce). It basically tasted like the bits from the bottom of the burger pan reduced down with some water. The worst thing though? The cheese! I have never in my life seen cheese(Kraft singles, no less) on a loco moco patty. So gross. All in all, very«meh.» Maybe we will come back and try the shave ice this summer, but I think for food we will spend a little extra money and drive the extra 20 minutes to go to Patrick’s.

Finally a decent place to grab a quick bite in Washougal. Love their food and service is friendly. Only complaint would be that they could be more earth friendly. We dined in and they served their food in styrofoam boxes with plastic utensils. I would even settle for old school cafeteria lunch plates but styrofoam?! Aren’t we enough of laughing stock in Portlandia already? ;)

I read all the reviews on here, and they were all good, so I had to check this place out. Was looking for another good local place to eat. I grew up around the Chamorro community, so I know what good island food should taste like, and this place is great! I got a beef plate with the rice and side macaroni, and all of it was phenomenally well done! Very tasty. I would say a couple things about this place. 1, needs more promotion. It’s behind another building with a really small sign, so hard to notice if you are just passing by. 2, lot of empty space. Not enough tables, but that’s probably because they are not getting a lot of business. Also, would be good to have little menues, they only have the menu on the board type thing behind the counter. More extensive/expanded menu as well! With all that being said, please eat here if your looking for good Hawaiian food in Camas. You won’t be disappointed!

Their ice machine broke while we were here, so we ended up getting our shaved ice for free. …but we left the money in the tip jar because we want to see them stay in business. Love this place.

This place has the most amazing steak! We drive from the other side of Vancouver just to eat here sometimes. Definitely worth a try! We’ve had the chicken and pulled pork as well. Very yummy.

The shaved ice is so tasty! Fairly priced and good eats as well. The kids liked the atmosphere but it does still look like a work in progress! There’s lots of space they could use for small games or something which would be very neat. Regardless, I’ll be back!
