Gina and her team are the best Dentists. My kids and I have been there for over 25 years. Best dentist! Kid & family friendly!

I went to Dr. Gina based on recommendations by two friends who are her patients. My first visit was fine. Her office got me in and out very quickly. They did x-​rays and exam — and then Dr. Gina came in to talk to me. She told me I needed deep cleaning and needed work on two of my teeth (one on each side). Then, she told me she could get everything done in two visits. I though, wow, that’s really great. But, here’s were everything goes bad. She did the work: my deep teeth cleaning on one side. Then did my tooth procedure on the other side. Second visit: Dr. Gina did second half of cleaning and then finished off tooth procedure from last visit and took care of other tooth procedure on other side of mouth. Great. All done with dentist visit. But, I didn’t feel really good. My teeth didn’t really clean. Then, a couple of months later, my primary care doctor recommends a mouthpiece for sleep apnea. I go to the referred dentist. His office does a whole mouth x-​ray on my teeth. What he tells me isn’t good. He asks when was my last cleaning because I have tartar build-​up and gum issues. He also points out two teeth that need serious work done because one tooth was developing an abscess, the other had a root canal failure. He’s shocked to learn I just was at Dr. Gina’s office for deep cleaning less than 3 month ago. He’s also surprised the two problems weren’t detected. He also points out that the work I had done probably should be redone to prevent problem. Bottom line: More work. Stay away from Dr. Gina.
I just got my teeth deep cleaned at another dental practice. And my teeth actually feel clean.

This is definitely a delayed review but one that I think needs to be done.
Both myself and my husband went to see Gina Torgerson about 4 or 5 years ago. We had both not been to the dentist in years and were pretty much expecting a lot of information to be given to us because we were so long overdue. But we were VERY wrong and basically had an extremely uninformative, very quick and lazy cleaning, x-​rays and briefing (like very brief.)
First my appointment. There was fairly no wait being a new patient and i was almost immediately put into a chair. on my way to it Dr Gina was behind that glass wall thing texting on her phone and digging through her purse. The Dental Assistant was very nice and did the X-​rays and cleaning and of course i got the floss talk. Then she went ahead and looked over my x-​rays and discussed them with the Dr and Dr Gina very quickly looked over my teeth.
There really wasn’t any interaction with the Dr and when she asked me if I had questions/​concerns. I let her know I would like to her check on my wisdom teeth because I was highly recommended, as a kid, to have them all removed because they would begin impacting my teeth and causing them to shift and I was never able to get it done. From there she did not mention anything about them. As a professional I would have liked an answer, «yes i see that they should be removed» or «no everything looks fine, no need.» But all I got was something along the lines of we’ll be sure to get you set up for that, nothing else was said and she just left.
The DA finished up with whatever else was left for the cleaning. I was then left to finish taking care of payment and got my toothbrush as an obvious, ok good to go. All this time Dr. Gina was again behind the glass wall just texting and fidgeting with her purse. I asked the receptionist about info regarding my wisdom teeth and she didn’t know anything about it. So i had to directly ask Dr. Gina about it and she seemed frustrated that I was interrupting her precious and apparently extremely important text conversation. The only thing she did was tell the receptionist to give me some information for an oral surgeon. To which I had to contact and schedule and find out if my wisdom teeth even needed to be removed, because she obviously couldn’t waste her time with her patients x-​rays instead of her texts.
Next turn is my husbands at a different time. He was told that he has no cavities and the discoloration on his teeth is just staining from food. Later after refusing to let him go back to Dr. Gina, we find out he has had several cavities and the discoloration is not staining, it is corrosion caused by acid build up from sleep apnea. He had to go to a completely different person to actually get the proper information that should have been looked into and not just disregarded as nothing.
She apparently does no work and doesn’t care to give her patients the time of day to deal with their oral needs. She is unprofessional, unfriendly, and uninformative.
TL;DR Bad dentist, didn’t look into anything and had to go to other professionals that actually took the time to do their job instead of texting for results.

Dr. Gina Torgersen is the worst and most unethical dentist in the Conejo Valley. Run, don’t walk, away.

We Love Dr. Torgerson! I’ve been taking my family of 6 to Dr. Torgerson for about nearly 7 years and have found her to be the best dentist we’ve ever had. The office staff is very friendly and I’ve never had to wait for more then a few minutes for my scheduled appointment. I love that they call me the day before to remind me about my appointment time for the next day and also remind me to take any necessary medicines an hour before my appointment too. It’s a nice added service because it’s easy to forget appointments made so far in advance. Dr Torgerson is very gentle with her cleaning techniques and my kids have always looked forward to going to the dentist — which is nice since I’ve heard many stories of kids with fears and anxieties about going to the dentist. She is absolutely the dentist of choice in our house. I gladly travel from Thousand Oaks to her office in Camarillo and we would never even think about changing dentists, ever!

Love Dr Gina and her staff. They are always very friendly. Very trustworthy dentists! Our Dental insurance changed so we have to find a new dentist and we are truly devastated!

I had the most horrible experience with this Dentist today. I have never come across a Dentist that is unprofessional and is not willing to take constructive feedback. I was referred to this Dentist by another Dentist due to my insurance not been able to take my prior Dentist. So today, I decided to make an appointment and I was told to arrive at 2:00pm, thirty minutes before my appointment to fill out paper work. I was there at 2:00pm and the office was closed. I waited about 20 minutes and I see the Dentist walking in along with her assistance so I went right behind them. The moment I walked in, I was not greeted at all by the Dentist or her assistant, instead she start bitching at me for not having filled out my paper work. I explain to her that I wasn’t told to fill out any paper work and I was told instead to come early and fill out at her office. She continues to keep bring it up and tell me that her receptionist made me aware to bring this so called paper work. I was pretty much being called at this point a liar. So I proceeded to have a conversation with the Dentist and provided her with feedback on how she should approach her new patients, about having some manners at least and most importantly to take the feedback and use it to her advantage. I let her know that her demeanor was not OK and the way she talked to me was beyond rude. I also, let her know that I was willing to move past the issue and for the both us to move on. So she decides to tell me that because things got off wrong foot and she feels at this point that my comments were unnecessary that she is not interested in having an additional patient and that she has tons of patients and that she didn’t not need to hear any feedback. At that point, I got up and left freaking unbelievable. Don’t ever go to this place or use her as a Dentist, with that kind of attitude and cockiness you might as well find another Dentist that is professional and willing to hear your concerns!!!

I have been seeing Gina since I was nine years old (I’m 24). I don’t know what better compliment I can give her than to say I refused to find another dentist when I lived across the country, and I refuse to find another one now, when I live 2 hours away. She is worth the travel.

Several of my family had bad experiences with unexplained charges and re-​fitting crowns that did not fit — ouch!

Dr Torgersen is the best dentist I have ever had. Even my wife like seeing her and she has had a mortal fear of dentists since childhood. My son goes to her, and I highly recommend her. I never wait long to be seen and her staff are always friendly, happy people. I know you can’t please everyone, but anyone who is not satisfied with her has greater issues. I have been going to her for at least six years. She has never recommended unnecessary work, even reexamining teeth I told her two other dentist want me to have filled. Her diagnosis was that fillings were not needed and I have had not trouble with those teeth.

My 10 and 8 year old always demand to come here to get their teeth checked and cavities filled even though Dr Torgersen is outside of my current network. This is where they feel most comfortable. They have refused to go anywhere else. That should tell you something. In my opinion, Dr Torgersen is straight forward and honest and I appreciate that. It amazes me how this industry can rob people blind. I had several 2^nd opinions with my son and the out of network charges were ridiculous. Dr Torgersen rates in my opinion were extremely fair. We have been coming to her now for a couple of years and will continue to do so. Thanks for seeing my kids and being patient with them when others either refused to treat them and or charged outrageous fees to cause me to leave.

I’ve been going to Dr. G about a year now after having a bad experience at another local dentist. I must say that she’s helped me get over that experience.
Dr. G has an excellent doctor-​patient communication skills. She tells you honestly what you need and helps put together a manageable treatment plan. After not having been to the dentist in a while, there were a few urgent items on my plan.
The office staff is excellent. They handle insurance billing and appointments effortlessly. I have been to other dentists whose front office staff are not as competent.
Dr. G shares this office with her husband Dr. T, but Dr. T comes in perhaps once or twice a week. (he works mostly out of their Simi Valley office). Dr. T has done work on my teeth as well and is very skilled. They seem to divide up the work, with more complicated restorative stuff being handled by Dr. T.
The dental assistants are kind and well skilled. I have been to other dentists where the dental assistants are brutal, Nurse Ratchet types.
Appointments are done in a timely efficient manor. I have never had to wait past my appointment time before being seen. Once work begins, it continues in an efficient manor until it is completed. This keeps a normal appointment from being an all day event.
The only downside is that I’d like to see them have 8am appointment times. I don’t think they get started here much before 9am.
Overall Dr. G is the dentist for me. She has excellent patient relationship skills. The tag-​team approach with Dr. T helps to get complicated stuff done in the best manor. If you’re in the Rillo and you need a dentist Dr. G is a good choice.

Dr. «T» and her staff provide excellent dental care, with a warmth and caring that allowed even someone like me, with horrible dental experiences, to relax, and be a patient for 12 years. I can not recommend this outstanding dentist and her staff highly enough — they really do deserve a ‘6 Star Rating’. I will miss the family atmosphere of going into her office for an exam and treatment. Only a move from the area would have caused me to find another dentist.

My Wife and I both see Dr. Gina Torgersen and we are both very pleased with her. She has been our dentist for years. She is very professional and has always been on time and involved in the appointment from the start to finish. She and her staff are very friendly and courteous. Her cleanings are thorough and I have never felt she was rough. She shows genuine concern for us. We do not have dental insurance, so we appreciate her honesty and the fact that she doesn’t push unnecessary or little needed services.

I have been going to Gina for 2 years now. I had previously had a very bad experience in the San Fernando Valley with a dentist that had done a crown without properly anesthetizing me. And so after having let some poor excuses keep me away from the dentist for about 3 years. I went to Gina on the recommendation of a friend after I moved to Camarillo. I have been nothing but delighted with Gina. She is very gentle and always very kind and friendly. I have never been in a situation where I was in pain with her. She has been my daughter’s dentist since my daughter turned 4 years old (she is now 5). She has performed fillings on my daughter, and my daughter really likes both Gina and Trent, which I think is probably the best recommendation a dentist can have. I can’t speak to others experience but my husband, my 5 year old daughter, and I have all had only good experiences with Gina and at her office.

Gina Torgersen is a butcher, not a dentist. I went to her one time, years ago, and one time only.
I had an 8:30 AM appointment. I showed up a little earlier, filled out my paperwork and waited. 8:30 rolled around and I still waited. 8:45 came and went and I still waited. Closer to 9 AM, Dr. Torgersen strolled in with her Starbucks and chatted idly with the front desk person while I waited.
I didn’t know she was the dentist because I had never seen her before. When I was called back a few minutes later and saw that she was the dentist and that she hadn’t even been here for my appointment. I was pretty mad. She never even apologized for her tardiness.
Then, she brutalized my gums for an hour with what she called a «cleaning.» My gums were so swollen and actively bleeding when she was done that I had to call in sick to work that day.
DO NOT USE GINA TORGERSEN AS YOUR DENTIST

A fellow Unilocaler messaged me and accused me of being an unhappy person who wrote this review out of spitefulness and was just talking sh1t for sh1t’s sake. In case anyone else thinks the same thing, let me be clear: this review is deserved.
1. If it was a simple appointment mix-​up, an apology from her about the mix-​up would have immediately cleared it up and I would have left with no hard feelings.
2. I have had cleanings before and since and I have never been brutalized the way that she brutalized me.
