Toyota of River Oaks

Erica and Louis went above and beyond to give us excellent service! We didn’t feel pressured and they did their best to find us the best deal possible. They were very knowledgeable of the different features of the vehicles we looked at. We love our new Toyota Tacoma and plan on purchasing another car with them in the future.

Maintenance staff is rude and disorganized. I will not do any future business with this dealership because of it. Unfortunately for them I have bought 2 cars in last five years and I drive a lot for work so need to update frequently.

I’ve purchased a few cars from here and I really enjoy the dealership and the people there. I highly recommend the dealership if you’re looking for a low pressure solid car buying or car servicing experience.

One and done with the service here. I was told by two people, first on the phone for an appt that actually is first come first served and the by the writer that dx was 115 that would be applied to the repair if I had the work done there. I had to bring it back because they had to order parts. At the end they added the repair and the dx together. After talking to too many people they took it off the bill. Don’t lie to me, I will not return for service or anything else.

Maintenance takes a ridiculously long time. 3 times in a row, I went in for JUST an oil change. The first two times I went in, I was there for 2 hours. The third and last time I went in, I was there for 2 hours and 50 minutes. All times I have gotten my oil changed here, I have made an appointment. If I made an appointment to take my car in at a certain time for just an oil change, I should only be in there for about 20, 30 minutes. This is just stupidity.

If you’re into Toyota, I definitely recommend this location to get our new car. Very nice selection of vehicles in the lot in addition to the cool people that work here. Beni, RJ & Claude definitely made my trade in/​purchase here very comfortable and made sure I drove off a happy camper.

Service department is awful. Listen to other Unilocalers and stay away. $ 800 for a brake job. No way. Limping home. No one greets u right away. True. Nice enough once u talk to advisor but once u agree to $ 80 diagnostic and wait 2 hours now they act like they don’t remember u. True. Denied service and waited another 2 hours to get car back same way I brought it in. Then had to search lot for my car. Avoid service department. Leon the salesman is awesome though. Five stars for him only. Almost got that new RAV4!

So sorry to say I did not like the service at this place. I pulled my car in the service center and no one walked over to me so after a few minutes I got out my car to 3 men working at there computer. So to my surprise one of the guys told me hold on a second.
Well to make some of this unhappy Experience short. I had a fit to see a guy with a security hat getting in my car. (was is his uniform ?)And the guys thought it was kind of funny. I came in just to get my tire pressure checked I was there for about 45 mins
And I was just out done when a guy just came in and asked who driving a Camry. ???
Really like Wow. Excuse me what’s the year, make and the model. How about a name would be good.

I will never buy another car from here again and seriously question whether to buy a Toyota. I should have known better. I was in the market for a Sequoia. After checking the internet inventory I called on the SUV. I explained what I had to trade and how much I was looking to spend and since my house was an hour and a half drive I wanted to know if they could do a deal. After several hours I did not hear anything and I called again to speak to a manager. I was put in touch with a manager (that I later found out was just another sales guy). I went thru the info again with him. After finally getting him to understand that I was not driving 1 ½ hours to waste my time the sales guy said he could do the deal. I packed up my wife and 2 young kids. I arrived and was told by the sales «manager» (from the phone) that he needed a couple minutes. 15 minutes later he came back and said he was going to bring the truck up front (which was suppose to already be up front). After waiting 25 minutes for them to bring it up front we discovered this was a «demo» unit which was not told to me on the phone. It was filthy but I was still open minded. After the test drive and trade evaluation the sales games started. «If I can get payments here you will buy the car right?» After an 2 hours I was done. I walked out of the dealer but not before making it known to an «actual» manager before I left.
I got a call the next day by the sales manager. After re-​hashing everything I agreed to buy the SUV. I got back to the dealer a couple of days later to complete the purchase and for them to clean the SUV. Once again something that was told to me to take 45 minutes took 2 ½ hours. Oh wait, it gets better.
So now 35 DAYS GO PAST and I am getting phone calls from my finance company from MY TRADED IN VEHICLE. RIVER OAKS TOYOTA STILL HAS NOT PAID OFF THE TRADE!!!
This dealership is horrible. They lie and tell you whatever it takes to make a sale. I have called multiple times to find out what is going on with my payoff and get no return phone calls or go to voice mail. My salesman told me they «mailed» the check the other day. What business really uses the mail for this type of transaction anymore. My advice, run to another dealer as fast as you can.

Came in 2009 to buy a new car, ended up buying a car that I had no original interest in (a pre-​owned Martix but had a lot more options to offer), drove it around for 20 mins, then fell in love. I’ve been taking it back to this location for service ever since and I am so happy with my decision. From the dealers to service department, this is a fine group of people that love their cars.

When I went to River Oaks, my salesperson JB was actually decent at getting me financing with my close to fair credit. However, I was only shown two cars. 1 new, and a 2010 which I now own. I really like my car but after the «purchase» is where the problems came in.
I had problems with the financing, after almost 3 weeks of me having my car. The company that was supposed to finance me never received any of the info that the dealership so called sent. When the financing company called me, they needed the info all over again. The finance guy Kevin Chew, is the worst at getting back with people. He always said he would call back and that happened maybe 3 times out of the 20 times I called him and left messages.
After the financing went through because of my high efforts to keep calling the finance team, I had more problems.
River Oaks put a check through that they werent supposed to. It was a check that shouldve been voided by Kevin, but because he didnt call to communicate with me why he had two checks, he just put them both through. I was overdrafted and they took forever! I kept calling and even had to go in to show where the check came out. The next day, I didnt hear anything from them. I was livid and talked to one of the sales managers in the evening, Claude. He told me he would call me back and when he did is when it hit the fan. He said I needed to show where it says the check isnt pending anymore. Why did I even come in to print it out in the first place if I had to screen shot it the next day. This man acted like he didnt even know where they banked. Huh? This man even raised his voice at me. Sorry, but not cool. After my FATHER spoke to him and went up there the following day is when I received my check. It took them almost 5 days to give me my check. Thanks be to Chase who took off the charges. Worst Dealoeship ever!

BUYERS BEWARE!!!
My experience at this dealership is almost indescribable. Initially, my perception of Edward, aka Eddie, one of the Sales Manager, appeared to be bright, energetic, friendly, honest and hard-​working.
On Saturday, September 14, 2013, my husband, brother-​in-​law/​attorney and I traveled to the dealership in search of a 2013 Toyota Highlander Limited. Upon entering the dealership, Eddie, greeted us and asked what we were looking for. We informed him that we were only interested in a new 2013 Toyota Highlander Limited (preferably with black interior) and were prepared to pay cash. Eddie checked their inventory and advised he would drive the vehicle around for us to see, inspect and test drive.
After inspecting it, we informed Eddie that we liked it and was prepared to pay cash. We completed a Customer Worksheet which asked for our names, address and telephone numbers. Eddie walked away and spoke to his manager, and came back with several offers that were well above our price range. After we denied the third offer, we left the dealership on amicable terms.
On Monday, September 16, 2013, Eddie called my husband and left a voicemail message stating that he was able to lower the out the door price to a dollar amount that was close to our original offer. My husband called and advised me of this recorded offer. When I called Eddie to confirm, I specifically asked if that was the out the door price which included taxes and fees and he adamantly answered yes. I informed him that I would need to confer with my husband and brother in law and would let him know.
About an hour later, I called my husband who conferenced in his brother and we discussed the price. My brother in law informed me that he too had called Eddie to confirm the out the door price. After a brief discussion, we all agreed that it was a good deal and that we should move forward. I called Eddie and informed him of our decision and told him we would be in around 7 pm to complete the paperwork and pick up the vehicle.
At approximately 7 pm, my husband and I arrived at the dealership with a check in hand. Eddie greeted us and we began what I thought was a «normal» business transaction. Eddie pulled out a form and asked for our driver’s licenses. He began copying information from our licenses onto the form (name, address, date of birth, DL #, etc.). He then asked us for our social security numbers. Since we were purchasing the vehicle via cash, I asked why he needed it. He stated that the government requires all customers to provide it and fill out the form to ensure we were not involved in «illegal activities». Eddie assured us it was normal and that it would not be used to run a credit check.
Once the form was completed, Eddie took it and our check to his manager and said he would be back with the purchase agreement/​order. When Eddie returned, he provided us with a sheet of paper stating that our out the door price for the vehicle we wanted to purchase suddenly increased by approximately $ 4,000. I asked him what happened to the price we previously agreed upon and he said it was his manager, James, that changed the terms of the agreement. I gathered my documents (check, IDs, etc.) and began to walk out. I informed him that this was bad business and that I would write a review of my experience on
. He asked me to wait and speak to his manager. We spoke to his manager and advised him of our plans. I told them they were unprofessional and unethical. I then asked for the copies of my DL and other worksheets they had with our information. They gave us the documents and we left.
On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, I received an email from Equifax informing me that an inquiry was received on my credit report. I logged in and saw that Toyota of River Oaks ran a credit check on my husband and I without reason (as we were paying cash for the vehicle) or permission.
We previously felt deceived and disgusted by their Monday night’s actions and to add insult to injury, our privacy was subsequently violated. Their illegal and unethical behavior is unacceptable. I have since reported them to the BBB and am seeking other avenues of relief as well.

Don’t know much about the sales department, but I can say without certainity that the service department… Bobby and Matt are the best! I have been taking my car here for years, and they have always been fair and honest when it comes to fixing my car. I would recommend them to anyone.
