Mr. Kay’s Fashion

I was in River Oaks shopping mall picking up items for an upcoming wedding I’m attending. I was trying to find a cute clutch purse and my attempts were unsuccessful. Upon leaving what I thought was the last store, I noticed Mr. Kay’s across the mall. It is primarily a shoe store, but I noticed there were purses lining the wall. I decided to check them out.
When I entered the store, I noticed the sole employee sitting on the bench talking on her cell phone. That was no problem, I was just going to peruse anyway and I didn’t think I’d need help.
While glancing at the purses, the employee told the person on her line «Un un… hold on a minute… what [is] she trying to do…» (I guess by the «she», she meant me?) Anyway, while holding the cell phone to her ear and remaining seated on the bench, she shouted, «What size shoe [do] you wear?» Ummm… «A six, «I said. «See…un un… these shoes start at an 8. I can’t help you here,» she said.
Blank Stare…
I turned to look at the shoe selection which displayed a large, very visible «size 7» on the lower rack. So, a size 8 is clearly not the starting point.
Had she paid just a wee bit more attention, she would have noticed that I was viewing the purses. Or, if she were so inclined to ask me what I was looking for, I could have related to her that assistance was not necessary.
But none of those things happened. I told her «Ok.» And, I left the store vowing never, ever to return for anything.
