I am giving this store 1 star bc it is a very beautiful store. Full of unique items. The owner has good taste. The staff was very polite. We bought a hand blown glass pen. I would give this store 5 stars except one thing really bothered me. I asked the employees who the artist were for a couple items. They did not know. No employee knew in the store about any artist. They only said they were local. Maybe from the coast was one vague answer. Funny was one of the artists I knew and they were from Arcata. Is that local? I guess. I wanted something but I wanted to know who the artist was… I felt like the employees should know bc they should take interest in their work. The artists should be acknowledged out of respect for the work. The owner should teach the employees as a part of the job. It was unbelievable. I liked the quaint, cuteness of Calistoga but found it snobby and elitist. Actually I was informed the owner knows the names of the owner but will only tell you once you buy a piece. What a disgusting store owner. She fears of you know the artist you won’t buy from her and she won’t get the business. As an artist and a curator this is a foul practice. The people who sell this person their art should be furious. I’ve never known a curator in my life and lived in the arts my entire life who would hide the names of the artist from the public. That basically makes her a misrepresentative of the items in her store. Taking the claim of their art instead of giving it to the artist. Gross.

The store is lovely with interesting and wonderful items BUT the sales lady with the long gray hair, who was in the back by the counter, has a horrific cough and kept it up throughout the time I were there. About two months earlier, I wanted to browse and the same thing happened. I go in, hear this extremely loud cough that doesn’t quit, and turn around in fear of getting her illness and it’s so annoying! I do realize she’s ill but either she should stay home or wear a mask. I do, however, hope that she gets the help she needs but I think she’s scaring customers away!!!

This was one of the coolest stores in Calistoga in downtown. Carrying a wide selection of southwest Native American jewelry, art, weave and bead work, clothing, and more. Just a great place in town that brings a part of the southwest to California. I’ve traded with Stix and Stones for many years, and always found great original Native American jewelry and art work at fair prices. You have to travel to the high desert yourself to do better. The owners who travel to the southwest regularly to acquire items for their store, have been a part of the downtown Calistoga landscape for decades, and it’s always fun and interesting to shop, look and buy from them. I can’t speak of the employees as I always deal with the owners. Whenever you find yourself in downtown and you’re looking for a little fun place to shop that’s got some great native American jewelry, art and other things, this is the place. It won’t break your bank, the owners make you feel at home and welcome, and you will almost surely find something special to remember your last trip to the wine country. 113

I had the same experience as ellie g. I really liked their pieces but no one could tell me anything about the artists, except that they are«local». Which really is sad for the artists who have their work there. I would give more stars if they represented their artists and craftsmen better because it is a great place otherwise.

Stix and Stones won’t break your wallet… Feeling impregnated by a buffalo… burger, we left the near by local restaurant Sarafornia and Michiru and I desperately needed to walk off a great meal. Calistoga is the place to do it. Just right next door is the Stix & Stones Gallery. Under the sign it says«The Down to Earth Gallery» and it was just that. Unpretentious, they had a whole bunch of really cool stuff worth taking a look at. Thus far on this trip I had little time to pick up any souvenirs out side of t-shirts and sweatshirts. I by t-shirts and sweatshirts from just about everywhere I go. I keep thinking some on will say«Oh I see you have been to Pismo Beach,» or wherever the t-shirt advertises. Nobody ever does. It is kinda of sad. I think they are just jealous, or lack the courage to say«Oh, I see you have been to Pismo Beach, how did you like the clams?» They are probably fearful I could come back with, «The only friken thing I did not see in Pismo Friken Beach is a friken Clam»…but I am just not that type of person. I would not even think of something like that. I would probably thank them for revitalizing my belief that wearing a t-shirt from a place I enjoyed and visited made a difference in this world. Come to think of it I am going to make a t-shirt up that says simply«I have really never been to any place you would give a damn about so there!» Stix & Stones had just about everything else but t-shirts so I compromised and bought the closest thing I could find, a handcrafted thingy to hold my various and artful chopsticks. Michiru bought one because she like the way I displayed my chopsticks at home… in a wooden bamboo thingy. However she bought a handcrafted thingy at Stix & Stones for her chopsticks so I felt the necessity to upgrade my chopstick thingy to one similar to hers. So we now both have matching, handcrafted thingies for our chopsticks. Just got the larger one and they only had one left and it was about half the size of Michiru’s. So her Chopstick thingy was bigger than mine. Oh well, I can always cut my chopsticks in half or perhaps shorten my fingers its all relative. Stix and Stones is a must. Hard to find anything other than a bottle of wine or wedge of cheese in the other gift shops. It really is a great and very different place.

Great items, great stuff. They have a really interesting collection of things for sale. The artists they work with are generally local, everything is high quality, and the owners are super nice. We have bought two items, and have been very happy with the very distinctive wine rack and chairs. The store is quite fun just to browse as well.

What a neat place. All their art is American made. They have everything from cute little inexpensive stuff to really beautiful pricey pieces. I wanted so much more than we bought! The help was perfect, offered to take the pieces I was interested in out of the case then she moved away and let us discuss. If you’re in Calistoga stop by and browse this unique store.

What a wonderful place to shop! My husband and I were in Calistoga last week and happened to stroll into Stix and Stones Gallery. We were wonderfully surprised by the efficient, polite service from the young female clerk. We had the opportunity to meet one of the displaying artisans. Everything in this shop is of high quality and artistry. We recommend this shop to all who are interested in the beauty and uniqueness of top quality American Artisans’ work.

I can’t believe there are not other reviews on here! My husband and I are in town(we think Calistoga is an adorable romantic getaway) staying at the Solage. We took our bikes downtown and just happened to walk into this gallery. We purchased gorgeous original wall art… although I seriously wanted to buy half of the store. The owner has VERY reasonable prices and even offered us a small discount for purchasing two! We are really excited to bring our little treasures home to hang. Highly recommend checking Stix and Stones out… amazing stuff in there!
