Roger’s Tire Pros & Auto Care Center

i have had rogers tire work on my vehicles for many years, back when they were in old caldwell. they have always done a great job on our vehicles at an honest price. now in their current location, the two sons, brad & ryan have taken over the business. the sons are very polite & accommodating, just like their father. the problem is the sons do not have the honesty or integrity of their father! while having my truck serviced at rogers i asked them to check my transmission because i was going on a long trip. their report was that i urgently needed a new transmission. we agreed on a price for the new trans. & installation. this done i went back to rogers for a final check of the new trans. at this time rogers told me the sending device for the new trans. had failed. this was another big price item & all this work was starting to smell real fishey… i asked rogers to put my truck back together & i would think about it. the next day i took my truck to the dealership in nampa & asked them to check my transmission. the dealership said there was nothing wrong with my trans, just a wire to the sending unit had been unpluged! wow! i went back to rogers & asked brad for an explanation. he yelled, «what do you expect me to do, i’m no mechanic». the end, he just turned around & went back into his office to play on his computer. we did not put a 1,000 miles on the new trans, when it completely came apart in the middle of the nevada high desert. we called rogers and they said, «it’s not our problem, you have to deal with the trans. manufacturer in seattle wa.» rogers offered no help whatever. zip, nada. my advice, stay away from rogers tire and always get a second openion, always…

Hate to do this but I have to revise my rating. I always had good luck here in the past, but my last few times in have not been good. Also I have sent my wife in a few times and we feel they have tried to take advantage of her lack of knowledge on cars.
We recently took a BMW 3 series in to have it aligned after I put new suspension components on it. They checked it out and determined that the front control arm bushings were bad and the car would not hold an alignment due to the play in the bushings. Fair enough, I had a feeling they were bad and were appreciative that they informed me before doing the work and charging me. However the problems started here. My wife was the one who went in to pick up the car. They quoted her over $ 1,000 to replace the front control arms and bushings. Now I know they would probably prefer to use genuine BMW parts but even then the parts were $ 500. They tried to charge her $ 500 for labor to install these things. When she questioned them about why the labor was so high they insisted that it was an «all day job», that one of their guys would have to «spend an entire day on the car». This is a total load of crap. She called me and even when I challenged them on this they insisted that was the case.
I knew better so I told her to bring the car home. I ordered high quality OEM replacement parts from Germany for $ 325. It took me less than 1 hour to remove the old arms and install the new arms, in my garage, with hand tools. It took longer to get the car on jack stands than it did to replace the arms. So somehow a job that took me 1 hour is an «all day» job for Roger’s.
I know they have to make a profit, and I don’t expect a shop to do the work as cheap as I can at home. But a job I can do for $ 325 in parts should not be $ 1,000 at a shop with a hyper inflated labor premium.
I won’t say to stay away at all costs, but be sure to educate yourself on your car and have a good idea of what something should cost before you go in. I hope this was just a fluke on their part, but they were pretty insistent. If I hadn’t known better my wife would have seriously overpaid for a very simple job.
My tire work goes to Bruneel Tire in Nampa now. Only been in a few times so far but the service has been good and quick.
