History

Established in 1986.

Starting with a small pool route in South Florida, Darren Merlob grew his company to become one of the largest swimming pool renovation companies in Florida. Moving to texas on 2007 He started Austech pools, a pool leak detection and repair company. The company expanded rapidly and the business was sold in the middle of 2011. Darren relocated to the Los Angeles area to start Caltech pools.

Darren is a contractor who has been in the swimming pool industry for more than 20 years. In 1989, starting with a few pools on a service route in Florida, he grew he grew his resurfacing company to become one of the largest pool renovation companies in South Florida. In 2004, frustrated with traditional crack repair methods (epoxy injection, re-​bar, etc.), he developed a technique for repairing structural cracks. The Torque-​Lock™ staple is used world wide to repair and stabilize cracks in cement, gunite, shotcrete and concrete. In 2007, he left the family business and moved to Austin, Texas to start Austech Pools, a company specializing in leak detection and repair. In less than 4 years Austech became one of the most relied upon leak detection businesses in the Austin area. While building Austech, Darren developed LeakTronics, state of the art sonar and video equipment to pinpoint leaks. in 2011, Darren decided to set up shop in California, the swimming pool capital of the world.
