I am from out of town and we don’t have English tack shops in my area. It’s been several years since I lived somewhere with a nice saddlery (Dover). So on a vacation to SoCal I decided to stop in. I was expecting to find a very snooty, overpriced, and limited selection (high end only) type shop.
I am SO surprised that I was wrong and found the opposite. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, no high pressure sales, name brands I love like Ariat and Tuffrider at competitive prices, and best of all a consignment/​sale area where my boyfriend snagged a pair of Tailored Sportsman Breeches for only $ 50!
We spent a couple of hours trying on breeches and half chaps and decided to buy them since we found exactly what we were looking for. I’d normally buy online from State Line Tack or similar but the value of getting to try things on is worth a little extra money and believe it or not, we actually got 2 pairs of half chaps for less than I can find them online!
Highly recommend this tack store for locals and visitors!

I drive all the way from the South Bay, this place is that good! I do most of my equine shopping online, but when I need to go to a brick and mortar store this is the best place in LA by far. They have a huge selection of tack in store (seriously this place has like 5 rooms!) And a really nice staff to help you find things.
I’ve been making trips here more regularly since I decided to start hunting for a saddle for my new pony. They have a huge selection of consigned saddles (mostly jumping and dressage but also a couple of western) and that’s what prompted me to write this review. Every time I go in no matter who’s on staff they’re soooo patient with me. I think the first time I spent 2 hours sitting on every saddle in the store. I think it’s no secret that some equestrians can be really catty but there’s none of that attitude here. They always do their best to find what I’m looking for even though my neurosis is kind of outside their wheel house (I’m a polo player who doesn’t like polo saddles).
Taking saddles out on trial is painless; they give you about a week to make up your mind and they make returning them easy breezy if it doesn’t fit right (you just bring the saddle back and they return your check to you). I’m about 3 saddles in and I still haven’t found the «the one» but I’ve only had nice experiences so I’ll keep coming back til I do.

Cassie was a huge help with my purchases the other day. Just getting back in the saddle and found the perfect helmet for my nearly child-​sized head that does not look like a feed bucket fell on me. Then we moved on to paddock boots and half/chaps…gorgeous. But, in the helmet trying on expedition, I left a beautiful gold and diamond earring (all right, I don’t wear them riding) and when I called, Cassie kindly mailed it to my home all the way in Santa Monica. Great service and first rate products that the staff has thorough knowledge of.

Best tack shop in Southern California, and well worth the drive up from Orange County. Impeccable customer service makes ordering over the phone or purchasing in person very easy, and the staff is knowledgeable and willing to work with you to ensure you get exactly the product (s) or item (s) you need.
Also, had them sell my 2006 Antares on consignment, and it sold within 6 weeks for asking price! Love everything about Cal-​Sad.

Very small, but I come here to get my horse gear in LA…
Pretty pricy, but being in a premier location in Los Angeles it’s not surprising.
The cool thing is whatever your needs they will get it in a timely manner.
The also sell gift certificates for loved ones that are equestrian inclined.

Cassie was amazing. Great service and assistance. Looking for boots and she was patient and adjusted the fit with socks, insoles, and heel lifts. Tried on a bunch of awesome English boots by Ariat without pressure. Great store with both western and English gear.
Parking was limited but there’s street parking.
Nice business tucked off the freeway.

They are so great about ordering items for you, I just wish they had more items in stock for plus size riders! Womens breeches — great selection up to size 34, and coats up to size 16. Not sure about men’s items. They also carry some cute couture doggy items!

Great service and great selection. If you can’t find what you need, the friendly staff will do their absolute best to help you. When you shop there, they make you feel like family. Calabasas Saddlery is always my first stop for my horse needs.

I love calabasses saddlery. This is the tack shop i ALWAYS go to. I’ve gotten many pairs of breeches, shoes, socks, spurs, gloves, boots, shirts, jackets, treats, and so much more. The staff knows what they are talking about and are very honest. They really want you to walk out with the best stuff that you need. They also have AMAZING consignment (for my size/​market at least). I needed a new hunt coat and I got a Grand Prix one, an in case you are familiar that is a ver nice brand, for $ 70. I have never had a bad experience. thanks so much calabasses saddlery!

Can’t say I am too much of an expert on horses and saddler but this place is very seems to have all you could want if you did have a horse, staff are very friendly and welcoming and know all the horse riding trails around.
If they do not have what you are specifically looking for in stock then it will be ordered in or they will point you in the direction of someone who does carry it — very helpful!
Won’t be going back anytime soon as I do not have a horse however if I do it will be here!

Love this store. Most helpful and sweetest staff ever! The girls there are patient, especially when brining in your kids. They are so so so knowledgeable. If you aren’t sure what fit of helmet, boot, chaps, anything, they will spend all the time in the world helping you, or your child get the right fit! It is so important!
They have an annual swap meet, where you can come and get some great deals on second hand items from other equestrians in the community. I would also highly suggest signing up on their mailing list so you do not miss any sales or coupons.
Whether you are a novice, or an expert, you truly can’t go wrong at Calabasas Saddlery!

I am brand, brand new to riding and they were so nice and helpful to this newbie.
I did not want to invest a ton of money in riding gear until I know this is going to be a lifetime endevour, and they were so good about finding me affordable gear. They were not stuck-​up or patronizing at all, as I was worried horse-​pros might be.
They even made sure I got a discount for people on the mailing list by signing me up right away, and I got $ 15 off!
I got some really nice paddock boots and half chaps for a great price, and some riding tights/​leggings for an amazing price! I can’t believe I’ve been buying «fashion» riding pants at Bloomies for all that money, when I could’ve gotten cool riding pants for a song, here!
I am def making this my one stop-​shop for riding gear, horsie treats, etc. They have it all.

I am new to the wonderful world of horses, only about a year into them, but now own three so spend a lot of time there. The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful, able to answer all my questions. They give great advice and insight and have a great selection of everything to choose from. If something I want is not in stock the will order it for you.

Have to agree with the other reviews — this place is DIVINE! I have bought just about everything equine here and last year when I bought my first saddle, bridle and girth they were absolutely gracious when I had to take them back a day later because of an unexpected IRS audit (which later was dismissed!) This place is clean, comprehensive in supply and the staff are great. Having visited three other tack stores in LA, Calabasas Saddlery is my favorite.

I’ve been going here since I first learned to ride, and I would love to give them a great review. However, I was in the market to buy a new saddle. They didn’t have what I was looking for, so one of the sales associates ordered me the make/​model I wanted. She had told me that they put it on a special order so that it would be in, in about a week and that they would call me. A week went by… nothing. Two weeks… nothing. Every time I called to check the status, I’d be put on hold for so long, the call would drop. When I called again to reconnect, I was told they didn’t know where the saddle was, and didn’t have any tracking information. When a month of waiting had rolled around I decided to buy a different saddle from someone else. It’s too bad for Calabasas Saddlery considering I went way over my budget and they could have had a great sale.

SERVICE:
Man these chicks know a lot about horses and their gear. All your questions can be answered. They are equally skilled in Western and English equipment. The prices are horsey-​expensive but every once in while they will offer a great deal that’s worth taking advantage of. They can order just about anything you need. The clothes are cute here and there is usually a sale rack going. I’ve bought most of my riding clothes for a deep discount off this rack.
They even sell used saddles on commission and are great about letting you try it out on your horse for a few days before committing to it.
They also FIX SADDLES and REPAIR TACK. This can be a real life-​saver when your $ 2000 saddle snaps a girth strap.
They have a great selection of supplements and occasionally #25 lbs of carrots but no feed or grain.
They sell Cavallo Simple Boots which are the best barefoot horse boot I’ve tried and I’ve tried A LOT of them.
Other than feed, all my horse needs seem to come from here.

I was in the market for a saddle and visited just about every tack shop in the Southern California area to check out their inventories. I live in south Orange County, so Calabasas Saddlery is quite a drive for me but it was so worth it!
They have a huge selection of high quality consignment saddles, as well a new saddles. I ended up scoring the best deal ever on a used but still in great condition Antares saddle that fits me and my horse great. I couldn’t be happier with it. They allow a 7 day trial on saddles which is very nice.
The girls that work there really know their stuff and were very friendly. I also was in need of some other barn necessities and they had everything I was looking for. Best of all weren’t overpriced like a lot of tack stores are.
Really I think this might be my new favorite tack store, I just wish I lived closer to the place. They did tell me they could always ship to me so I might just have to take them up on, but I am sure there will be trips up there in the future as well.
