Maranatha Boarding & Grooming Kennels

I researched a long time for my next dog. I chose Maranatha Kennels because they had a wonderful reputation for Search and Rescue dogs, and Master Hunter dogs.
My husband and I chose our litter, and made the 4 hour trip (one way) to pick our puppy .
At three months of age, I noticed a limp from the front legs of our girl.
Having previously had a yellow lab with frontal dysplasia I recognized the possibility.
Immediately I contacted June, the breeder. She reassured me that if it turned out something was genetically wrong with the dog, proven by medical data, she would back her stated guarantee, and REFUND our purchase price, or exchange the pup for another.
So far, so good…
As the months went by, it became more and more evident that surgery was necessary for this dog, to alleviate the pain, and increase the range of elbow motion.
The dog was examined by 2 orthopedic specialist veterinary hospitals. Both of the diagnosis and prognosis were the same ! The medical evidence was forwarded to both Marantha Kennels and June’s personal veterinarian .
June offered me a dog from an upcoming litter, and said that I could KEEP my lame pup, as she had no use for the dog, and would just have to find a free home for her anyway…
We considered this suggestion, and we were open to it…, but my sister had just been diagnosed with kidney cancer, and facing immediate surgery, therefore I could not bring another puppy into my household at that time .
so we elected a REFUND. (I needed to help my sister recuperate, and as a good dog owner, knew I would not have the time to devote to a young pup.)
Our dog was 7 months by now, and we were attached.
So I kept MY PUP .And spent the $$$$ on the surgery …(improved, but she will always limp and have some pain, as she was rated at level 3 !)
Now here comes the reason I write this review…
It took me over 2 years to get ¾ths of my refund! It came in dribbles and drabs… A check maybe every 6 months… WITH LOTS OF RESISTANCE from June, and oodles of e mail correspondences… an incredibly frustrating ordeal.
June owes us $ 500.00 of our purchase price! I am resigned I’ll never see the remainder what is still OWED to us!
However, I was willing to let that go. until out of curiosity this spring I returned to the website .
In HORROR I discovered June BRED THE BITCH THAT IS THE CARRIER OF ELBOW DYSPLASIA !!!
(our sire, a National Master Hunter Champion, was cleared by x Ray)

for motivation of sheer personal profit, would breed a bitch PROVEN to be the carrier, and SELL these pups to others …
MARANANTHA is selling heartache to the purchasers, and perpetuating a genetic flaw!
