Personally, despite having a child, I prefer the West side of the campground because it has more lush setting. For me when going camping, more trees, the better. BUT. The East side is great if you have children because it has a playground and parents can definitely watch their children better over there(and yes, barely any trees and the whole campground seems very new-ish as well as more family-friendly or great for group camping). In the West side, while it’s greener, the bush and trees in-between camping site is not fully grown yet(give it time, it’ll grow lush with time). The park has many activities to offer you. It has excellent biking and hiking trail, it is also famous for star gazers beside their disc golf and horse riding(stable rental too). There’s an educational wild life center run by volunteers with very interesting historical items. Speaking of which, all the volunteers, hosts and rangers are helpful. If you’re wondering, the accommodation(restroom and shower) in the West campground is also clean and very private. I’ve heard the East side accommodation is even cleaner and newer. We didn’t check out how busy they are during the weekend because we’re there for a few days during weekdays during one of those 97 degrees day. And yes, the campground was very quiet and it almost felt like you’re all alone(at night). The best part of our camping experience are being able to see up close and personal: a couple deers and does around the campground, eating and basically ‘ignoring’ us. One of them even slept nearby our trailer. They came by twice a day, walking around and eating, many campers took pictures of them.
