The owners are great– really nice and accommodating. Anytime I’ve had an issue they’ve immediately addressed it. I love the ambiance too. It’s a good place to chill and get some work done or chat with friends. but most of all, I am soooo happy that there are vegan options here. The deserts are nice– avocado toast is great– chili is good(maybe a little too flavorful/salty for my preference though). Can’t wait to see what other plant based recipes they’ll cook up :)

Burrito ordered at 7:05 pm. Burrito received at 7:30. The place was empty. Either this is extreme laziness or improper training. Either way, I won’t be getting food here again.

Beautiful ambiance but, terrible customer service. I felt as if the person taking my order was annoyed that I was asking questions and didn’t know what to choose. My cupcake was really hard and the prices were too much!

Ohhhh Routine. I just love you. Cafes seem to be either ‘regular’ or vegan. So, stumbling across this vegetarian option is amazing. Their food is wonderful and their staff is awesome. Just what I want in a go-to place. Only real negative(for me) is that they do not carry soy milk. If you serve coffee there should be more ‘creamer’ options than dairy or almond. I feel like I can’t take advantage of it as a coffee shop for this reason.

So glad I made the effort to travel all the way out here after seeing an Instagram post of the strawberry + basil avocado toast! I somehow didn’t see it on the menu though, so I ordered the avocado toast with sriracha mayo and radishes instead, and it tasted just as nice as it sounds! Also ordered an almond milk latte, which was solid. Now onto the space itself — it’s huge! I would definitely bring my laptop here and do some work(yep free wifi!) if I lived closer. I will say though — the food service is kind of slow, so don’t expect this to be a quick lunch. But to be fair, the area makes for a nice spot to just relax and just take life slowly so there’s no need to rush!

Hey, I love the coffee and the space! Plus the owners seem really cool; however, the baristas have plenty of attitude. I like my coffee sans B.S., if you know what I mean! Also, the music was definitely on the loud side, clocking in at 60 dB on the dB app. I think if they turned the music(and the tude!) down a bit it could be a great destination coffee spot! Only other thing is that they have no gluten-free stuff and only either almond milk or dairy — no soy, rice, coconut, etc. choices…

Great coffee and food spot in my neighborhood. They support local farms, and the food shows. It’s always fresh and delicious — and huge portions! It’s a great spot to get some work done, or meet with friends. I love a coffee shop that has a couch!

Great spot! Beautiful interior design and a sense of community, though it seems way trendy for the area. The music and food is on point and the space is nice and big with plenty of seating. It’s a bit pricey but the vibes are so worth it!

Very nice café. Lots of sitting. Nice decoration. Lots of delicious pastries and brunch options. Only downside: a bit too pricey.

This is my favorite spot in the neighborhood! As a vegetarian who mostly eats vegan, I am so happy to have found Routine! They have a perfect selection of beverages and food – they’re varied without being overwhelming. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the food is AMAZING. I’ve had a few things so far and everything has been delicious, but I HIGHLY recommend the Routine sandwich(it almost had a falafel vibe but was even BETTER?!?). The baked goods are also giant and A+. Also the lighting and décor make for an awesome vibe. I’m bringing everyone who visits my place here!

So happy to have a great coffee shop just down the street. The coffee is top notch and the food is its perfect companion. This place has great wifi and an amazing environment if you need to set up shop and get some work done, or just read for a while away from home. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.

This place is great! I never come out to Bushwick at all but this was such a great find! I ordered the avocado toast topped with strawberries, basil and fried eggs. Delicious! I loved every bite of it. It has a great combination of salt/sweetness. Very savory! It’s a perfect portion for brunch/lunch. Paired my food with an iced coffee and it was great. Ambience was quiet. It had lots of space and a cool industrial coffee shop vibe. Service was great, staff members were friendly. Will definitely come back when I’m ever in Bushwick again. : *Hi there. If you liked my reviews, please give me a «compliment.» Thank you.”

The customer service is awful. I really felt rushed and awkward waiting my turn to order. The barista didn’t seem to care that I was a paying customer and acted like they were doing me a huge favor by taking my order. It’s a shame they have such good coffee and are close to my apartment. I guess that comedian that says if you get rude service at a restaurant you know the food is going to be excellent is right I can’t even get the iced coffee now so now they just have bad customer service. I hope they go out of business and a better coffee shop comes along

Living here for 5 years we were very excited to finally have a coffee place to walk to! So on a chilly November morning we took a stroll. Here was our impression. Pros: great space, unbelievably kind staff, delicious well prepared food, close proximity to home Cons: price to quality of beverage ratio, outlets, did I say price?! Oh. Sorry. As a crazy person latte expert whatever the fact that we own an espresso machine and I can do my own latte art does not make this place a cool spot to hang. It does NOT make it a place to get artisan coffee with a little flair for your morning cup. And for the prices they charge for a 4 ounce cup in my book is not worth it. There are far better establishments that serve better quality and are cheaper priced. Are they closer? No. Are they worth my money? Yes. I want to spend my hard earned money on something I cannot make at home, and I have no interest in spending a lot of money on something I can make considerably better.(again, only because we have high end espresso maker at home) If you do not have these at your disposal Routine is a great place to go in the morning before you catch your train… If you don’t want to spend as much swing by my place and I’ll make you a cup ;)

Living in the neighborhood since 1996, I’ve been really excited to try all the new hotspots around. I was super excited when Routine opened because it’s right across the street from my house. Backstory, as construction started, we see the same man walking in and out, assuming he’s the owner. We’ll call him Mr. Entitlement from here on. Well, Mr. Entitlement is walking around very smug and doesn’t really talk to anyone in the neighborhood except for himself and his peons. Moving on… Routine opens! It took me a while to go because their hours are wonky. Everytime I would attempt to go, chairs were on the table. I finally get the chance! It’s open, I’m hungry, haven’t had coffee, GREAT! I ordered the breakfast burrito and a mocha latte. The friendly barista/cashier asked if it was to stay or to go. I stayed, I grab a table and wait. I made eye contact with Mr. Entitlement and I smiled(because that’s what I do, smile). He looked away. Wow! I mean wow! It’s a good thing your staff is nice. Maybe you should learn from them or stay in your BMW. My latte was served and placed on the counter. Huh? No one’s bringing that to me, ok. Interesting… When I tasted it, it tasted like a hot Guinness. My breakfast burrito arrives and it looks phenomenal. I found it odd that they brought that over but not the latte. Inconsistent. The flavors were pretty kickass too! The rice could’ve been cooked a little longer because it was hard in some bites. All in all, I will not be returning. It’s super pricey for mediocre coffee and the burrito, I can make at home. Plus, the owner’s an a-hole.

This place is so close to work! I was very excited to learn about it from my coworkers. However, I walked their twice and the place was closed both times! What is this? You cannot tease me with your donut pictures, coffee review, and close proximity to work! How cruel! What are your hours??? The ones posted on Unilocal are not true. Until the hours are updated, I will not be attempting to stroll on over.

I have lived in this area for the past 3 years and work from home, and really hoped a nice coffee shop would open near me so I could work there sometimes. I’m very happy they finally opened, though I have a few suggestions for the owners. It is a very spacious place, and they mostly have coffee and a few breakfast type foods in their menu. The staff/owners were very nice and friendly, and the internet worked pretty well, though you can only charge your electronic devices on the plugs that are on the right wall, and there are not many outlets available, so I think adding a couple 4 – 6 outlet surge strips wouldn’t be a bad idea during busy days. I’m not a coffee person so I wish they offered more different types of teas. So far they only have black tea(iced and hot) and black tea with mint(or something like that, I don’t remember exactly what they said), but basically there were only two choices, and no green tea which is my favorite. I hope they start offering more tea varieties in the future, like green tea(sencha, genmaicha, hojicha), herbal teas, and a well made green tea latte would make me go there on a daily basis probably no matter the cost… Speaking of prices, I found the tea was a bit overpriced, $ 2.5 for a cup of simple black tea… It was a big, well brewed cup, but it’s just leaves and water at the end of the day and I can have the same thing at home for free, that price would be more justified for a cup of sencha or genmaicha or maybe a pot. Their iced black tea was pretty good too. Regarding the coffee, my husband had a couple lattes and a espresso, and he said they were«just ok». I think that is not Routine’s fault but the fact that most of the US don’t know how to brew a proper espresso. A good cup of espresso has to be balanced between sour, bitter, and sweet, and most coffee places in NYC just make this dark, extremely sour beverage that has nothing to do with Italian espresso, but maybe that’s how Americans like it? I have no clue, but that’s one of the reasons why I never drink coffee! I asked them if they will add any GF items or pastries in the menu and they said they will have more GF food in the future(they already make a couple things that I think are gluten free, like the scrambled eggs with kale and home fries, but sadly they have no plans for pastries). I would also love to try their toasts on GF bread. Maybe they should sell Larabars or Udi’s cookies or something similar for those of us with gluten allergies and celiac disease who get hungry while being there but there’s not a lot we can eat in terms of snacks? They might not be homemade but they are healthy-ish and don’t expire at the end of the day. They told me they will have vegan pastries soon.

I have been living in bushwick for 5 years and been a brooklyn man all my life. I have been waiting for a place like this for years then one finally opens up around the corner from me… perfect. The avocado toast is phenomenal just like the overnight oatmal. Me and my wife got both the Strawberry toast and Chipotle radish toast and went splitsy on them. Delicious. Will definitely be back the customer service was amazing the chef came and asked us how our food was and did we need anything and had us test new items for the menu. I would give it five stars but I have to save that for when the menu expands.

Great addition to the neighborhood. Set a very high standard for upcoming spots in the area. I would recommend the strawberry avocado toast with basil. Huge amount of flavor. Very friendly staff and beautiful murals opposite exposed brick with functional seating. Highly recommend.
