Kirsten’s Danish Bakery

One of the best bakeries in the Western Suburbs, hands down. Everything they make is fantastic, and the staff is equally dedicated to providing great service. The Owner is frequently there on Saturday’s, and she’s a total sweetheart.

Their cake donuts are the best I’ve ever had! Didn’t get a chance to try the blueberry muffins because everyone from my office ate them before I got a chance to try one, but they looked amazing. Cute little bakery that has nice pastry and also a good spot for a quick lunch as they make sandwiches.

It’s okay nothing special. A but expensive. Pastries are good but the cakes are nothing to go crazy about better place to get a cake at.

I wanted to find a delicious king cake in Illinois and decided to try Kirsten’s Danish Bakery. I had previously tried their Danish Kringle and it is one of my favorite desserts! I also enjoy their cookies, especially the frosted sugar cookies! I chose their pecan king cake and it did not disappoint. Kirsten’s king cake comes with beads and a plastic baby. This version is similar to a nut roll with its sweet bread and ground pecan filling. It is frosted and covered with colorful, crunchy sugar. It was very sweet, but delicious. I enjoyed Kirsten’s king cake, but I am more likely to return for the kringle or cookies.

Just left here. The counter clerk was rude and acted as if I was an inconvenience to her. She saw me but then continue to work on her duties without acknowledging me. I asked what was good here. She said it was a matter of preference. Frustrated, I decided to make it my preference to leave. I would not recommend coming here until the customer service improves. The woman in question was a chubby brunette in her fifties. The food could be awesome but I would never recommend this place.

This is an excellent bakery and sort of a café too! They serve soup and sandwiches that I haven’t tried yet, but plan to. Every pastry I have had here has been excellent, but you truly haven’t lived until you try the almond Kringle which is one of their signature Danish style pastries. That is to die for delicious and a must try. It feeds about 4 people. Come early or they will sell out!

The best bakery in the area. Every birthday cake comes from Kirsten’s. The family favorite which has now become the neighborhood fav is the white cake with lemon filling and buttercream frosting. It doesn’t get any better, not overly sweet with the right amount of tart. Just celebrated my wife’s big day with a black and white, fudge filling and buttercream frosting. Delicious! Plus you’re not paying crazy prices. Didn’t even mention the fantastic pastries and cookies. If you love a good old fashioned bakery, this is your just dessert.

My husband and I wanted to order a cake for our daughter’s 4^th birthday party. She is very into Frozen (what 4 year old isn’t these days?) and of course wanted to have a Frozen birthday cake. When we called they told us yes we can do this, but come into the store and finalize all the details.
My husband went in and they told him that they could only do the Frozen COLORS, but NOT any of the characters. They suggested we go buy some figurines at the store and put them on ourselves. So we were going to pay $ 60 for a cake that had only Frozen colors? They said that due to copyright laws they couldn’t put the characters on there.
However, what I found out after looking online is all they need is the copyright release (which obviously the nicer bakeries and all of the Jewel Oscos have because don’t we see these cakes all of the time??). So Kirsten’s essentially doesn’t want to pay the money to obtain this to be able to give customers what they are looking for.
In summary, if you are looking for a character themed birthday cake for your child — look elsewhere! We ended up going to a much nicer bakery and paying the extra money to get what we wanted.

This place is amazing!!! Fortunately for me they have the single serving cakes because I was able to try different flavors and not over indulge. Please do yourself a favor and go get a treat. Watch out for Terry she’ll spoil you and indulge your sweet tooth :)

Been going to Kirstin’s for about fifteen years. Very rarely disappointed. Cut out cookies are the best. Breads, excellent, especially the three seed (get it with the egg salad during lunch hours, delicious!). Cakes are phenomenal and they can usually make whatever design you have in mind. They are not on par with the likes of Cake Boss but they will get done what you need. Best cake I ever had there? Chocolate with fudge filling and whipped cream frosting. Just to die for!

First time here and picked up a couple of things.
The velvet cake is superb! The chocolate custard, so pure and amazing! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm
This bakery is definitely a hidden gem and the best in the area. Hands down the best.

This is the best bakery ever! No matter if you need lunch, pastries, cookies, cakes or just a kind word this is the spot to go! My little ones have been raised on their sprinkle cookies, we’ve ordered many birthday cakes from them and never have been disappointed. They also donate their baked goods to a shelter whatever they don’t sell.
I’ve always had pleasant service and feel good about giving my business to a small business that sells quality baked goods at fair prices and donates to those less fortunate for anything they don’t sell that day.

This is a place I have been wanting to Unilocal about for some time. I stumbled on Kirsten’s just as I was looking for something for breakfast one day many years ago when I was here for business. Flash forward 2 years and the thought of their incredible danishes has never left my mind. What I consider their specialty is something called a Patchkie. I know I totally messed up that spelling but it is kinda how it sounds. It is something like a filled donut that come in three different varieties, Custard, Crème and my favorite, the raspberry. What makes these so special is the chewiness of the exterior and the amazing fresh tasting filling. They are truly unlike any kind of danish I have ever had. I have had several other things there as well including apple fritters and some of their delicious little cookies. Never been disappointed in a visit there.
The customer service has always been wonderful and the prices are very reasonable I love this place and even though I can only get here about once a year, it is a special little treat that I just can’t get enough of. Life Changer! Thank you!

In a shopping mall, so the scenery isn’t great. The selection is not vast, but what we got was delish.

Huge disappointment. Went for their original danish pastries they are writing about on their website. Came to a boring cupcake bakery with rude customer services and only one Danish Type pastry (a Danish with custard). We have experienced better quality at Walmart. Hint, use more butter in the dough.
The worst was the customer service. The two employees made rude faces and looked at the sky, when asked about the Danish specialities. They knew nothing and just wanted us to leave. Very sad. The only Danish in the bakery is the decorations and the name.

Best raised chocolate doughnut ever! I crave these every few months. Good thing I live 15 minutes away. Also love their red velvet cupcakes. Very good bakery but slightly overpriced. Go here for baked goods instead of the grocery store next door.

We used Kirsten’s for our wedding and I could not be happier. Everything was amazing! Kirsten was super easy to work with and extremely accommodating.
We had a traditional wedding cake, which they decorated so cute! We also had the Danish (or in our case, Norwegian) kransakakee. Best almond cake I have ever had (please do not tell my Aunt! LOL) And we even order Polish kolaczki cookies for my husband’s family.
Kirsten’s has it all and it is ALL delicious!

Just thinking about Kirsten’s Bakery brings a tear to my eye. A happy tear. A giant happy tear of happiness. Because this, my friends, is what baking is all about. Thinking of the most delicious baked good anyone could every imagine, and then topping it with icing. It is literally the icing on the cake.
I first started going out to Kirsten’s two years ago on the way to client meetings. I was all business; only swinging by for a quick bite to eat. But being surrounded by pastries and cakes and donuts does something to your will power. It calls to you in a way that not many things can. I broke down and tried my first baked good. That’s when it all started. My addiction I mean. My name is Kyle, and I’m addicted to Kirsten’s.
They have an unbelievable selection of cookies, pastries, donuts, breads, and cakes (coffee, cup, birthday… you name it.) The staff is super friendly and they even have lunch options. The sandwiches are basically just a gateway drug to get you to the really good stuff, but their egg salad really is quite delightful.
Don’t even mention going here on Fat Tuesday. All the Pazckis you can handle. Fuggedaboutit.
Now, I’ve been going back here very month for the past two years and I have zero complaints. Literally none. I would go here every day if I could. I wouldn’t even give a care that I weighed 600 pounds. Not one care.

We had dinner at a friend’s house and they served some Kirsten’s treats for dessert. I couldn’t decide between the brownie or pumpkin pie square, but ultimately decided on the brownie. It was the best brownie I’ve had — not dry and crumbly like boxed mixes and far surpasses any grocery store bakery brownie. It was dense, chocolate-​y and rich. Nice portion size too. I could share. But I didn’t want to.
Since I didn’t actually visit the bakery, I can only comment on the products. But I definitely want to try a pumpkin pie square…
