History
Established in 1989.
Kirsten’s Danish Bakery was a vision of Kirsten’s in 1989. Upon moving to the Chicago area from Los Angeles, Kirsten wanted to do something to keep her growing family in touch with the rich Danish heritage she grew up with. Kirsten, not a baker by trade, did know good bakery products from her many trips to Denmark and from her uncle who owned and operated a bakery in Odense, Denmark.
After placing ads in Danish newspapers, Kirsten traveled to Denmark and returned with an experienced Danish Baker to start her new business.
Kirsten’s boasts a loyal staff with many having over 10 years with the bakery.
Kirsten’s Danish Bakery is recommended by various Scandinavian organizations as having some of the finest authentic Danish products and was voted the best Danish Kringle in the USA. Kirsten’s has also evolved into one of the best full-line bakeries in the Chicago area with a customer base throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

Business Owner
Kirsten started her business over 20 years ago in October of 1989. A first generation Dane, Kirsten knew good bakery from her numerous trips back to Denmark and her uncle’s bakery in Odense, Denmark.
Kirsten takes pride in every aspect of the bakery as well as her staff.
